ibis Sheffield City: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great Front Desk Staff"

16th May 2012, ManxBarry, Douglas Isle of Man

During a recent stay in the IBIS in Sheffield our party of 18 were VERY impressed with the friendly and helpful desk staff. we had a few instances where we needed to get things sorted and they were most helpful and patient. We had a few noise problems with guests returning after a night out but you get this in any hotel!!

This is a real good value for money. The location is central and I would recommend it if you go for one night stay.

ibis Sheffield City: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great location"

23rd April 2012, 3acl8, Wolverhampton, United Kingdom

A good budget option for staying in the centre of Sheffield. Very near a tram stop (Fitzalen Square), which was very handy for the university, where I was working. About 7 minutes walk from the train station. The staff were very helpful and managed to check me into my room early (just before midday) which was very handy.

Perfect for our purpose, very comfortable yet basic and excellent value for money. It was very clean and had a spacious shower/washbasin area. No frills but all we needed.

ibis Sheffield City: 3.0 out of 5 stars "The Room Card That Failed"

31st March 2012, London

I've stayed at this hotel before, without either incident or complaint. On this occasion, my room card failed! Over the two nights of my stay I must have had 5 cards none of which worked for long.It was clear from the comments of two members of staff that it was known that there were problems with the locks on first floor rooms. Indeed I was advised by both that, for future stays, I should request a room on an upper floor. The staff were courteous throughout, but none the less I do expect a room that works.

ibis Sheffield City: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Ibis Sheffield"

15th March 2012, WaleScot, Wales

Our group (4 male friends) were allocated on arrival 2 double rooms which was not what we required - we wanted 2 twin rooms. The hotel's own booking system does not appear to allow you to choose double or twin - just a 'room for 2 people'.We were told that there were no twins available but after a bit of a hunt the pleasant receptionist found a family room (with a double bed and a low single bed) and a twin which should have been unavailable due to the bathroom door being unable to be closed.Apart from that the rooms themselves were fine - very clean and everything in working order. Rooms on the ground floor or at the front might get a bit of noise at night from people going past but it is not a particularly noisy area in that respect.Breakfast was reasonable but the area was a bit cramped at busy times. The choice of food was as described on the website so no real complaints.Good location - about 5 mins from bus interchange, 10 from railway station and about 3 from a tram stop.Overall I would have no hesitation in staying again but would contact them first to ensure the required room type was allocated beforehand.

ibis Sheffield City: 5.0 out of 5 stars "A nice and pleasant hotel near the city centre"

8th February 2012, London

A very good value hotel, staff are courteous. The location of the hotel is 10 mins walking from the bus and train station, 5 mins walk from the city centre. Rooms are spacious, clean, bathroom are well equip with a very powerful shower - though the towels could be larger so maybe its better to bring your own. Morning breakfasts are OK but there are plenty of places around to eat out. Overall it is a good choice for lone travellers or a couple with a budget.

ibis Sheffield City: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Hard Beds at Ibis"

7th February 2012, Margaret D, Elgin, Scotland, United Kingdom

I stayed for 7 nights at this hotel. In most ways we were well looked after and it was in a very convenient location. However I found the bed rock hard. I ended up sleeping with two large sleeping bags underneath me which we just happened to have in the car!If you don't like hard beds don't book this hotel!

ibis Sheffield City: 5.0 out of 5 stars "6 nights for European ice skating champs"

4th February 2012, ballingarry

This hotel is well located for the supertram for the Motorpoint Arena and adjoining sports venues (Don Valley) and is within walking distance of station and city centre.Staff were at all times welcoming, friendly and helpful. We slept well and enjoyed a good breakfast each morning that had variety and was good value.Had some late evening meals as well which were tasty and also good value - much better than we thought they might be.One slight issue was that the key cards to the rooms were not that reliable and required re-programming a number of times - but this was the only issue in what was otherwise a very good stay. All in all this is a very well run hotel that provides a high quality service to those travelling on a budget and I would stay there again if returning to Sheffield.

ibis Sheffield City: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Basic, Convenient but uncomfortable"

29th January 2012, DrPThomas, Wales

Its an IBIS, but why do they have such uncomfortable beds and pillows? Its a really nice hotel for an overnight stay on a business trip or where you won't be spending long in the room. Its all quite basic and plastic, but then thats what you expect....Its just a shame with the beds and pillows..... so damn uncomfortable....

ibis Sheffield City: 3.0 out of 5 stars "GOOD LACATION, NOTHING MORE"

20th October 2011, Warsaw, Poland

good location, close to the city center, pretty noisy, very scuzzy , the carpet in the room hasn't been cleaned during all our 4 day long stay ( I think even for the last few years..) the walls in the room are dirty, plenty of hairs ( unoftunatelly not ours ) in the bathroom, quite nice personnel, if you looking for a cheap hotel and you are ready to spend no more than few hours daily you can stand it !

ibis Sheffield City: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Mid week stay."

14th August 2011, York

We enjoyed our three night stay very much. Very convenient for town facilities, and the Peak District. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had breakfast each morning, very good value for money.Had to have window closed at night due to some traffic noise, and the cool air controller didn't seem to operate during the night and we found it rather warm, and didn't sleep too well. Apart from that it was fine and we are returning for another visit before the end of the month.

ibis Sheffield City: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Basic and cheap-as you would expect from Ibis-but great value for money!"

14th August 2011, Chesterfield

We got an amazing offer of just £25 for an over night stay with breakfast being half price too so all in, arounf £32!! Can't really grumble for that. However, the hotel is situated in the centre of Sheffield but I would say not in the nicest part of town. There was a black out blind covering the window which is great and it wasn't too noisy from the traffic. Not sure I like the bathroom 'tardis' which was very hot. I have never stayed in Ibis hotels before but was expecting something like Travlelodge which they are. I think they are ideal for a cheap overnight stay. I certainly wouldn't 'holiday' in one though. We had no shower gel in our shower despite there being a box. Typically, the one hotel I stay in where I forget to pack my own shower gel happens to have none!
