"Far from 4*"

Tired, dated hotel.Should be a 3* at most.7 floors and 1 old lift = nightmare. Sent a pre check in email to 'speed things up' but did not reply to my anwers and did not action any services before arrival.Breakfast overpriced, average food.
"Great place to stay"
9th May 2012, Eastleigh, United Kingdom
Good location on the southbank. Comfortable beds and a good breakfast. The Nespresso machine in the bedroom was a bonus as the instant coffee was not the best and the decaffeinated coffee at breakfast was almost undrinkable. Despite the coffee I would recommend this hotel for a stay in London, next door to the Tate Modern and the globe, a short walk from the tube and surrounded by good eateries.

"No attention to detail"
16th April 2012, Neil H, Merseyside, UK
Management at the hotel is sloppy at best. Drains on the sink not working in the rooms, no dressing gowns or slippers (not a real worry but they were offered) in the upgraded privilege room, failed to delivery newspapers all but one day. TV channel selection appalling and two of those did not work. Even after complaining the only thing fixed were the drains...It really does need a big management rethink otherwise its 4-star star status is really stretching the imagination.

"Pleasant and friendly staff. Central Location"
12th March 2012, HolidayingInEurope, LONDON
If you have a meeting in the City, this is a very convenient hotel to stay in. Staff are helpful and friendly. The room is perfectly adequate and although there was some road noise, we had a pleasant stay. The hotel is also conveniently located for the nearby Marks and Spencer, so its easy to get necessities later in the evening too.

"Mercure Bankside"
6th March 2012, bob h, Basingstoke, United Kingdom
I stay very regularly att his hotel as it is a convenient location for my work. The rooms are adequate, always clean and to a uniform standard. The premier rooms are considerably better but not worth the additional premium. Currently there is construction work behind the hotel so the quiter rooms are the ones overlooking Southwark St, but generally the rear rooms are the quiter and I would ask for those once the work has finished. The breakfast is very good, often using local produce, and is better value when booked with the room. Best prices are usually obtained directly through the Accor site, but occasionally there will be a good deal on late rooms so always worth checking. I usually pay between £110-150 B&B. Bar is usual overpriced hotel fare, not eaten in the restaurant so can't comment.

"Quiet and relative close to city center"
1st March 2012, Paris
Very pleasant crew and stay in this hotel. The room was quite wide, and we did not hear any street noise. The hotel is close to tower bridge and st paul, where you can go by feet in less than 30' for tower bridge. Close to a nice market (Saturday morning) and southwark station. Will come back for sure.

"Bankside stay"
26th September 2011, CarolnBerkshire, UK
The hotel staff couldn't do enough for us during our stay. Requests were dealt with efficiently and cheerfully. We were very impressed with the service offered by the hotel staff. We had a comfortable bed and a pleasant room on the 6th floor. The hotel was chosen for its location to our event in the City. Will certainly choose this hotel again in similar circumstances.

Nice pleasant helpful staff; Clean room with comfortable beds, Breakfast buffet was good (I did not try the hot buffet). The bar/restuarant staff were attentive and helpful. Food in the bar was good.

"Good clean hotel with friendly staff"
4th September 2011, Gainsborough, United Kingdom
Nice hotel, in a quiet location. Was a few minutes walk from the 2 nearest tube stations (which wasn't a problem for us). Being located on the south of the river probably attributed to the quietness. Only a 10 minute or so walk across to the river to the normal sights.Only (very minor) issue was some random noise at night from the air conditioning units on the roof (I guess), since we were on the top (6th floor).I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

"Pretty good but NOT worth the £175"
14th July 2011, W0rcesterW0man, Bromsgrove, UK
As per previous reviews, this hotel was very good. Comfortable, well placed just over Blackfriars bridge, has parking (yay), and all pretty much as described. However, as a country hick paying London prices, I had to take issue with four particular items as they were sadly deficient. The hotel are already aware of these things, so if you stay there please make sure (1) the hot water is piping hot, (2) ditto the breakfast, (3) the minibar is full and (4) you get newspapers delivered to your room instead of having to ask at Reception. I have been reassured that all these items would be addressed......

"A superb weekend in London"
7th July 2011, Birmingham UK
My weekend in London was fun.My hotel The Mercure was more than comfortable and relaxing.Visiting my family was rewarding and memorable.I found my London visit to be both busy and exciting and I shall definately be returning to the Capital City again very soon.Well worth the effort to drive down the M1 from the West Midlands myself and my journey was congestion free.I traveled at midday Saturday and continued through without one unnecessary traffic holdup.Convenient parking had been pre- arranged for me in The Mercure Hotels rear car park and access to the hotel was secure and easy.In my opinion I would say that The Mercure Hotel and my visit to London was definately worth my money!Joan AllanSee you again soon London!
"Great stay in a good area of London"
15th May 2011
The location of this hotel is excellent being in the Southwark area where there is much to see along the Southbank of the river including the Tate Modern and the Golden Hind to name but two. It's an easy walk across the Millenium bridge into central London. Our hotel room was quite spacious with a very comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and helpful.Overall, a good hotel in a good area.

"Pleasant stay"
28th April 2011, Edinburgh
I stayed here with my husband and young son whilst we enjoyed a weekend in London. The postion is great, you're very central and have two tube stations nearby which gives you travel options. This is a serious bonus with the amount of work currently being undertaken on the Tubes at the weekend! The front desk staff are freindly and helpful and the rooms are a good size and clean. Whilst there we ate at the restaurant where the food was reasonably priced (for a major city) and very good quality. The service was attentive whilst not intrusive. One of the other guests wasn't very happy that there only appeared to be 1 lift and so at busy times if you were on one of the lower floors it is faster to take the stairs. Since all our party were mobile, it wasn't an issue for us.My husband and I regularly stay in hotels on work trips and so when we stay on a leisure break we always tend to compare the hotels against business standards. We both agreed that we would be happy to return to this hotel.
