I enjoy to stay in this hotel from time time because it offers quite, comfortable and of course clean rooms. In summer I enjoy the breakfast (from a good sorted breakfast buffet) in the courtyard. U2 station is very near which is convenient for my business trips. Car parking might be tricky, but they offer a garage. The price value depends on the actual rate, which differs, depending on events in Vienna etc.... Traveling for business means I need to safe money and I select the hotel only when the rate fits to my budget. But don't worry, I will come back.
We arrived at 12 noon, we had to take the bags to our room as they don't have a concierge to take the bags, we had to pay also an early checkin!!! The breakfast the same everyday, and the staff is the worst. I don't recommend this hotel.
Dear michelk195, we are very sorry that you were not satisfied with your stay at the Mercure Josefshof Wien. We would like to explain the following: With your reservation confirmation you got the information about the check in time at 14:00! Our frontoffice team informed you about the possibilities to check in earlier as in the superior category, which you have booked was no room at that time clean because our guests can check out till 12:00. I don´t understand why you did not talk to one of our Managers during your stay to solve the problem. They offered you a higher category, which was available and they did their best and informed the housekeeping that your room should be cleaned immediately. The receptionist made the check in for your room at 11:40 am. For your next stay please let us know that you arrive earlier and we will arrange it in time. It would have been great if you would have asked for a manager to discuss your negative impressions directly during your 4 nights stay. Maybe we could have made up some of them. We are a 4 star hotel and it is not usual that we have a porter. A Concierge is the person who gives you informations about the city, concerts,.. We are always willing to help with the luggage when requested as far as the receptionist have enough time. You were not satisfied with our breakfast: Our breakfast is daily from 07:00 to 12:00. It is an all you can eat buffet. We have 135 items on it. For example: 24 different sorts of tea, 6 different coffees, 9 different cold drinks, 1 Austrian sparkling wine, 13 different breads, 4 different cakes, 4 joghurts, 5 cereals, 6 jams, 4 different vegetables, 3 hams, 4 sausages, scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled sausages, 6 fruits, 7 cheeses and many more. Why did you not speak with one of the Service or with the Manager about what you are missing? Let us please know what you missed on the buffet, to improve our service. Most of our clients praise the friendlyness and the helpfull service of our staff. So I am very sorry that we did not meet your expectations at our Mercure Josefshof Wien. Best Regards Elisabeth Neubauer General Manager
Favourite hotel just behind the Rathaus in a quiet street near the English theatre. Many attractions within walking distance but the metro, trams and the Ringstrasse very nearby. No open restaurant and only a tiny bar but who is going to spend hours in a hotel in Vienna?
Very well located near Rathaus and Ring, and only a few steps from tram (line 2) and underground (line U2) stops. Comfortable. Good service. Good advice on what to see and where to go. Cafés and restaurants available locally.
Dear user Anthony P, thank you very much for your rating of our hotel on tripadvisor. We would be very pleased to welcome you again at the Josefshof during a future stay in Vienna. Best regards from sunny Vienna Markus Schmid Resident Manager
At first a little tricky to find the hotel. After finding it the staff were helpful and I stayed in a Privilege room. Upon checkout one girl did seem somewhat clueless but there was another fella there who knew what to do to check out guests. The room had a really upmarket feel, the bathroom was nice (albeit the mural thing which was the bathroom door with a lady on it was a tad perturbing) the bed was nice, good set of tv channels and the room contained a pod coffee machine too. Really nice. Definitely stay there again if in Vienna. Quick note about the bar mind, very small by reception. There were 3 people (guests) in there when I went to get a drink and it was a case of no more room really.
Stayed here for three nights with my sister. Public transportation is right around the corner and museum quarter is within short walking distance. Its tucked away on a smaller side street but by no means difficult to find. Breakfast buffet is good. Value is very good with discount but probably only average if you're paying full price- still a good hotel that wed recommend.
Dear user T L, thank you very much for your review on tripadvisor.com It was a pleasure to read that you liked your stay with us. Hope to welcome you again if you should be back in Vienna. Best regards to Canada. Markus Schmid Resident Manager
In the hotel "Mercure Josefshof Wien" I spent three days in early December and principally I was satisfied, but the truth is that among so many Viennese hotels this one can be ranked as good, but rather only average. The location is really good: in the city center and yet in a quiet street, moreover there is a practical hotel garage. However, staff, breakfast and my single room acted rather the impression of a three star hotel: I cannot complain about anything, but it was not a special experience. Considering next stays at this hotel will therefore probably depend a lot on the price offered or the improvement realised.
Dear user Stanislav, thank you very much for your comments on your recent stay with us. We regret that you were not completely satisfied and need to assure you that all necessary steps will be taken to convince you about the quality of our services next time. We currently change the carpets in all the floors and most of our rooms. Additionally we will change the matresses and give many rooms a paint fresh-up. Our staff will be trained again shortly and so we hope to get back your confidence in our hotel. Hope to welcome you back soon and send best regards from Vienna. Markus Schmid Resident Manager
The hotel is located near the Rathaus (Townhall), very close to the the metro (line 2) and various tram lines. Great breakfast is served until midday, the rooms are clean and comfortable. Smoking rooms are located on the 1st floor which means you can get some faint smoke smells in the hallways above.
Dear Bob, thank you for your comments about the stay in Vienna. We are sorry about the little smell of the smokers. But in 2015 we will Change to a completely non Smoking Hotel. Best Regards Elisabeth Neubauer General Manager
We were wery happy to stay in this hotel. Beautifull Klimt design was looking at us from every corner :-). The breakfast options were mainly appreciated by my daughter. It was very easy to get to Kunsthistorische Museum Wien to enjoy Diego Velasquez exhibition. And the staff at the reception desk, especially Kristian Lopez and his female colleague were really very helpfull and supportive. Thank You !
Good location- clean rooms- privilege room on top floor with nice views and modern decor - good working rain shower - very friendly staff - easy to reach by subway - internet for free and working fast
The hotel is located near the metro station Rathaus. The old part of Vienna is also quite nearby. The hotel is rather old, dark and lacking daylight (lower levels). The bathroom is quite modern but the room is out of date. The breakfast is too expensive for what you get. The menu is the same every day. The breakfast room cramped and on two levels where the stap between was not marked. This hotel should be rated as three stars hotel! The airconditioning was not working and the room was stale. The hotel staff tried to make me belive that the goverment forbids the use of airco in that time of year.
