Novotel Canberra hotel

"Good location, good value"

As Accor members we have stayed at this motel several times before. Happened to fluke a 50% off deal running when we booked this time - excellent value ! ! Rooms are getting a little bit dated, but always clean. Car parking can be a bit of a pain when the motel full, but was OK on this occasion. Top floor room spacious and a bit of a mountain view (or at least there used to be, before neighbouring building construction blocked a lot of it out) Didn't have the buffet breakfast on this occasion, but that's always good value. Very central location - only a short walk to the central shopping/dining areas of Canberra, which are getting better every year.

We were delighted with the service we received! We needed to book in early to be at an event starting before midday and Novatel Canberra were able to oblige letting us have an early check in. Knowing our luggage was in our room and check in was taken care of meant we could enjoy our event even more otherwise we would have had to take care of it close to midnight when we returned. The Bed was super comfortable and cosy so much so my husband even commented what a great night sleep he had. The included breakfast was the icing on the cake! We would definately stay here again, in fact it may be our new first choice when visiting Canberra.

"Hit and Miss"

Ultra convenient location? Check.Functional, comfortable room? Check. Super helpful staff? Check.This would almost be a rave review bar a couple of oversights directly related to customer comfort, such as:Room service food needs to be hot not tepid and the correct cutlery provided. It is a little awkward trying to butter a bread roll with a soup spoon. Cleaning staff should finish the job. Returning to my room to find the rubbish bagged but left on the desk - erk. Then to discover no bath mat, hand towel or soap and tissue refill, inconvenient. The staff did come around to rooms asking if anything was needed so this was rectified however it is always best to do the job right in the first instance. A note on the bathroom - the shower needs re siliconing as the line of sealant around the bottom of the shower is very mouldy in room 511.Then having to listen to the seemingly incessant cries of 'Mini bar!' as a staff member went around restocking mini bars was just plain irritating when I was trying to work. Having had my whinge, I would definitely return though as the staff were so very happy, pleasant, helpful and efficient. This far outweighs any negatives.

Check in was quick and efficient (although there were two people with the same surname due to check in on the same night and my first name was not confirmed and I was sent to the wrong room - issue dealt with quickly and with no inconvenience to me), room clean and well serviced with a comfortable bed. Breakfast in the morning was the usual high Novotel standard and very enjoyable. All in all a good experience and I will return to the property if I am in Canberra again.

Good size room. The view of the ventilation ducts wasn't brilliant.The breakfast was good, though the poached eggs were undercooked and runny...need to fix that.

"Canberra weekend"

We had a great time at this hotel, the beds were great, and the two different types of pillows you had to choose from kept all four of us happy. The breakfast was amazing and we really enjoyed the hospitality of the staff.The only one annoying thing was the keys stopped working at 10am - but we had a late check out at 11, but it was fixed up pretty quickly with a visit to reception, the lack check out was worth the minor inconvenience.

"Nicely renovated, overall a good place to stay."

This Novotel was nicely renovated, the bed was very very comfortable with great choice of pillows - we got the best deep sleep here! The bottom of the shower screen was a bit cloudy and had some rust spots (although only very minor) everything else about the room was otherwise excellent. The check-in and check-out was efficient and friendly as was the doorman/concierge.

"Convenient & comfortable"

We booked here as Accor members & received both an excellent rate, and an upgrade to an executive room. Our room was well appointed and the service was excellent. A minor criticism relates to A/C heating which warmed up during the night and affected our sleeping.

"Family Get-away in Canberra"

The price of $160.00 under the Silk Road Exhibition deal with breakfast was a good value for money. I will definitely recommend the the hotel to our family friends. Please let me know when you have deals like this in the future.

"Sleepless in Canberra"

My partner and I enjoyed our stay with the exception of the the first two nights. A noisy air filter in the ceiling became loose and rattled through out our first two nights.It gradually became worse until the second night it was unbearable and I lost much of the whole night. It was fixed the next day.A disappointing situation.

"Canberra Novotel"

The Novotel is excellently positioned for access to the shopping and eating area of Canberra. Access to the local attractions is easy by bus or taxi from the Hotel. We had a room overlooking the main street and were not aware of any traffic noise even on Saturday night.

It's hard to find good value accommodation in Canberra when Parliament is sitting...unless you stay at the Novotel. It's well positioned in the centre of town and staffed by hospitality professionals. The in-room dining was surprisingly good, too.

"Novotel Canberra"

The hotel was in a perfect location for our needs. The valet service was fantastic. The spa, pool and sauna are also lovely to use when you are after a relaxing afternoon. I would recommend this hotel to other people and I will be more then happy to stay again.
