"Nice Hotel"

We liked the hotel very much :location with easy access to public transportation ; Clean, modern rooms ; good service.One remark : the airconditioning was still set on wintermode until June, they said. So we could not cool the room...outside temperature was 28 degrees, inside the room 31 degrees Celsius!

Loved the open space in the lobby so that kids can play and parents can have a drink. Great outside space (with swings!) which is enclosed, so safe. The room was decent size.

"Very good althoug not in down town"

Hotel located in the former industrial area of Zurich. About 8 tram stops (20 min.) from the main station. Modern business area. Room was clean. Service a bit slow sometimes. Pricing / quality of the service a little bit too expensive. For 7 nights stay below 200.00 Swiss Francs/night would have been more adequate in my eyes.....

"GOOD HOTEL !"

Not being downtown, it is not an issue, very accessible from the airport 10 minutes by train, Very easy access to the downtown or lake by tramway 15 Minutes. with swimming pool, kids love it. Nice Hotel, Friendly personnel.

"Business Travel"

Normally, when traveling to Zurich I stay at the Novetel, and have have been satisfied with the room and service. This time however, my trip was not so pleasant. My first night I experienced bed bugs - my room was changed but I was still concerned with this problem in another bed. I was not pleased with the hotel management as no one apologized for this - they only seemed embarrassed for the hotel. Not one manager took me aside to offer anything for my inconvenience - ONLY when I asked - did someone respond.

"Loved the pool"

Modern & clean hotel.Loved the pool, except I suspect they had forgotten to switch on the pool's heating on day 2 to 4 when i stayed in the hotel. Day 1 was warm & super lovely. Very refreshing to take a dip in the pool after a long day!I had free internet in the Executive room, but unfortunately it was not working on day 2 to 4. Reception said the internet for the entire hotel was down, but yet there was no technician on hand to rectify the problem.Luckily they had computers on the ground floor lobby for guests to use, tho those computers were also being used by non-guests as i had witnessed.

"Nice Hotel"

This hotel is well situated for both tram and railway. It is what you would expect from any Novotel across the world - it's just a shame that our air con unit was argumentative! The staff were friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our stay.

I liked: central, being at the heart of Zurich-West, breathtakingly clean, neat and tidy, everywhere. I did not like: all the extras for car park, breakfast etc. and when you pile these up, it is not that cheap, even for Zurich. The air conditioning was not efficient at all.

"Novotel West Zurich"

We stayed in Zurich for two nights over a weekend after taking the Glacier Express. This hotel was a tram ride from the downtown train station. Their web site says to take trams 4 or 13 to Escher-Wyss platz, but it is considerably closer to the hotel to just take tram 4to its next stop, Forrlibuckstrasse, particularly if you have luggage. The Novotel shares a building with an Ibis, but the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the check-in was fast and friendly. We had booked a 2 nights-for-the-price-of-one special; not sure if they are just for weekends or a limited time. The breakfast seemed too expensive, but there was a fruit basket in our room; not sure why, we don't have great status in A-club, just a normal member. The internet is free by cable, and worked 80% of the time. You have to pay for wireless, except in the lobby. I didn't have a Swiss plug, but they lent us one at the desk. It was a good experience.

As of December 2011 Tram line 4 will stop directly in front of the hotel so no more walks will be needed. To optimize our service we are negotiating a free WIFI solution in the future with our provider. "Alternate to central Zurich"

Easy walk to tram to downtown. Neighborhood has restaurants and a Migros as well as a great gym within Puls5 just across the square. If you are picking up or dropping a Hertz rental car, the Hertz office is just two tram stops away - and it is located at a gas station! Just be aware that the gas station is self-serve and USA issued credit cards may not work. However, you can use cash (bills only, no change). Business hotel with patio for drinks or dining.

"Not bad but not very helpful"

Reasonably cheap for Zurich. Quite a nice hotel, clean and stylish, particularly the communal areas - lobby and restaurant etc. The room was basic but fine. It was however small and cramped. We had a double bed and a double sofa bed, leaving almost no room for a cot so it was a bit of a squeeze. I asked the staff if there was a different room with a double and single to give us more space but they would not, or could not help. In this and in all other respects, the staff were somewhat officious. They were unhelpful and often rude. I'm afraid we had no positive contact with any member of staff.The breakfast was very good, the pool was small and the outdoor play area was simply a few swings.The location appears poor as it is industrial and there is a lot of building work but it is only a few minutes to the city and having lived in Zurich previously, I know that this is also a trendy clubbing area and quite alive on a Saturday night. First impressions can be a bit daunting though.All in all, I would recommend it, it is just a pity about the staff.

"Poor Service and bad breakfast"

The new guy of the room service do not speak english and that is very annoying... The girl that usually works there is very good...The dinner carte of the room service is very poor... The eggs at breakfast are really disgusting...It is a shame because the rest is perfect.

"Would recommend"

Second visit to this property in 3 trips to Zurich. Hotel is nicely maintained with all the necessary amenities. Not chic but nice. In a slightly "off beat" part of city but once you get to know the area...safe, good restaurants nearby, clubs for young people and not far from the tram to get you to heart of Zurich and beyond. If you are looking for elegance, this is not it but a good value if that is possible in a major city in Switzerland...good business hotel and for younger couples who want a nice place to stay.

"poor value"

I've stayed at the Novotel on previous business trips and found it good value. However on this business trip, I had reservations at Novotel for 2 days (Sunday and Friday) and found the value was extremely poor. Due to ongoing hotel renovations, the gym was closed, there was dust/mess in the reception area, however the prices were the same (actually higher than previously)! When your guests are inconvenienced or have fewer amenities, the price should be temporarily LOWER to reflect the actual situation.

"Standard hotel, but under construction (as of Jan 2011)"

When I arrived I found the lobby under construction, smelling a little bit of paint. The room was OK. Wired Internet connection is available in the room. Located kind of out of the way of the main pedestrian areas of Zurich, but nothing is ever very far in Zurich anyway.
