"24 Hours in Perigueux"

After arriving in Perigueux at the station we found the hotel about a 10 miunte walk away. My first impressions were that this is a slightly more modern Etap than most. The receptionist spoke fluent English and welcomed us with a smile. Rather than a key, the room had a lock activated by a code. As usual, for an Etap it was clean and I felt that we got what we paid for. It is located favourably for the Vesunna Museum and also the magnificent St Front cathedral. Perfect for an overnight stay.

We were visiting a place called Riberac and needed to bed down for the night, and Etap was what came up on the web search engine. The night passed quickly and we had booked Breakfast, which was functional. (The kids were hoping for Cooked Breakfast & secretively so were we). My disappointment was when I got home I had been billed twice, and I had explained that we had booked in online and already paid. So if I recover this second payment I will say that altogether it was a pleasant experience.
"Average hotel, not good for non-smokers"

The hotel is very conveniently located downtown Perigueux. It is and feels like the fast-food equivalent of a restaurant: non-descript and unpretentious. The staff is friendly enough but does not get out of its way to help. All this belongs in the category of what Etap Hotel is. Particularly disappointing though were the rooms: it is as if someone had come in to smoke cigarettes after they had been cleaned, impregnating the bed linens with the smell of smoke and burning the top sheets while they were at it. I am not 100% (but almost) sure that I would have been able to reserve non-smoking rooms from the Accor Hotel website, and the hotel was too full to request non-smoking rooms on the spot. Also, while cleverly arranged, the rooms were in need of some maintenance and cleaning: there was mold and rust in the bathroom. Finally, we were on the top floor and the rain tapped very noisily on the roof. All mixed, we did not sleep well. Breakfast was adequate but not particularly good, as again should be expected in this type of hotels. I am sure it makes budget-conscious (and smoking) business travelers happy. For a family on a vacation, it is simply not the best choice.
"Stay in perigueux"

Well located near to the heart of the old town with restaurants and attractions nearby. So much better than being stuck in an industrial estate on the outskirts of town. Easy to find with the aid of Google Maps, I would recommend this hotel to anybody. Selection of TV chnannle included English / German / Italian, room comfortable, good wifi reception, excellent value breakfast.
