I am a regular user of Formule 1 Hotels, due to the no frills value for money , on a par with a Bed and Breakfast guest house, but cheaper. The lay out of the hotels are identical irrespective of country visited. There is internet access in every hotel. The proprietors are always friendly and helpful. They are invariably based not far from a motorway which is superb when arriving late at night as they are easier to find and acess, as opposed to entering a major town and negociating one way systems etc. If you are attempting to find your Formule 1 hotel for the first time, my tip is look for a MacDonalds in the area, where their signs are quite large and seen from a distance Aim for that premises and you will find the hotel nearby.If you do not speak the language of the country in which you are staying for the night, for the breakfast the following morning the receptionist will require your room number before you can sit down to eat, so you just provide the number of your bedroom.Kettles , tea/coffee are not provided in the rooms, so a mini travelling kettle may be useful should you wish hot drinks in the evening , though they do have a hot drinks dispenser in the foyer.Many people rely upon the bedroom door to close by itself once they have enterd their room, this does make a slightly intrusive noise if you are trying to sleep and someone arrives very late. My advice is to push the door closed gently to the latch so that the noise of the closing of the door is eliminated and will not risk disturbing others.Finally, these hotels I believe operate as a franchise, there are high overheads with the laundry, heating,water and electricity bills not to mention the food and drink supplied for breakfast. The familys that operate them work hard and long hours and make a living but it will not make them rich, the hotel tarif is very fair in the current financial climate but it irritates me when I see people place a large quantity of food on their breakfast tray that they do not consume and thus a half of the food is wasted, eating into their small profit. My advice is eat /drink what you believe will break your fast and if you are still hungary go back for more which is permitted. The other pet irritation of mine is if you have the heater on and you become too hot turn the heater down, do not keep the heater on full and then open the window to cool down wasting the heating and incurring an additional unnecessary cost to the proprietor.
