"disappointed with breakfast"

we have stayed in f1 hotels all across europe and find them very satisfactory for the price. we were disappointed with the breakfast at gent as there were no cereals or sweetbread/croissants.i think the content of the breakfast should be shown when booking the hotel so that a decision can be made before ordering a breakfast as they appear to differ widely where ever you are

This is the Formule 1 in Ghent. The first time I was not impressed and alas I was not disappointed the second time. The Formule 1 hotels in general seem to be in a desperate need of an overhaul and no more so than Ghent. While I received a very nice welcome from the man at reception who was more than helpful, the hotel itself seems to be nothing more than a transit hotel for foreign workers. We were woken at six by the noise made by these people getting ready for work and there was no consideration for other guests. The room itself was very tired and in need of a coat of paint. The toilet and shower facilities were not exactly clean even though there is a self cleaning system in place it obviously does not work very well. I only stayed here for one night but that was more than enough

Poitives; Staff never less than helpful, no language problems, pleasant. Distance to centre less than 5min car, 30min brisk walk. Budget motel, budget price,BUT shared fascillities and indifferent users. Some congregate outside ground rooms, noisy into early hours; rear rooms extremely noisy all early hours, heavy rail freight & preceding warning bells; poor noisy location, mixed guests, many dock/freight workers? Have stayed at better hostels. Would not criticise staff, but run on shoestring, and they work hard through the morning to service site.

During the night there were noisy people and the receptionist did not do anything. Room was OK for one night sleeping but I could not sleep after 5am because of the noise. Besides, I could not recommend this hotel because of its location (unless you have a car).

Pleasant welcome; car park partly filled with cars with no registration plate - ready to re-sell, and NOT hotel customers - and no security; room OK except for tobacco smell (non-smoking room); no basin plug as usual; few channels on TV; breakfast very poor value compared with France (just orande drink, bread and spread and coffee for 5 euros).

I had an asigned room after registration and we had to look for a room where you can breath because of the smoke.Every single room had a horrible smell. Fortunately, the receptionist girl understood the problem and tried to help us by allowing us choosing a room. She opened the window and used some flower spray to minimize the smell.

We have stayed in various Formule in the past and know exactly what to expect. Room was clean the staff could not have been more helpful. All things considered we enjoyed our stay in this lovely city.

A few things which i thought may be worth mentioning as to why i rated this hotel so low:For the price i paid, which was only a fiver short of the previous hotel i stayed at, this was abysmal,Location was the middle of nowhere, had to drive to town,No toilet/shower in the room, had to share a communal toilet/shower (i don't remember this being listed on the site when i booked).Hotel guests were generally noisy outside,Breakfast was toast, with a bit of Jam or Chocolate spread, tea machine was even broken, so couldn't even have a cup of tea.Overall i would not recommend this 'hotel', i know it's at the budget end of the spectrum, but similar priced places i have stayed at in the past were plenty better than this.Staff were nice though
