"Practical room - Impractical Wi-Fi"
7th August 2013
Although the room was fairly small, it was very well designed - a single bunk-style bed over the top of a double makes it easy to use as a twin (in our case) or double with little fuss. The lighting is very well designed and positioned, for reading in bed etc. Space is well used with hanging storage under the TV and lower storage under a desk fitted into the corner. It is the first time I have come across the need to enter a six digit code into a keypad to enter a hotel room. Ours had a fault, so I would advise guests to be absolutely sure all is well before going out for the evening - there are no staff after 9pm to assist if things go wrong! We stayed "room only" so I cannot comment on the breakfast set up.One area I do take issue with Ibis on is the provision of free Wi-Fi. Technically it is free, and it is provided... but the deal was for 6 hours in any 30 hour period - not very practical! We selected this hotel as a cheap base for visiting three of the Alpine stages of the Tour de France. I had wanted to log on in the morning to plan our journey, then again in the evening to see how the race had panned out. Unfortunately, the 6 hour countdown started upon logging on in the morning, but did not stop when the session was terminated, thus when we tried to access in the evening we were denied. Worse, the fact that it is 6 hours in 30 meant that we could not log on again until the following afternoon!I found this particularly ironic when I noticed that Ibis were one of the sponsors of the 100th Tour de France! Hopefully Ibis will take this onboard and provide the 24 hour coverage we have come to expect these days. If not, at least those of you reading this will be aware when making your hotel choice. All things considered though, for a budget hotel it did what it needed to do (Wi-Fi excepted).
"Warm, Friendly and convenient"
7th January 2013, BaldyonaBike, York, United Kingdom
We used this hotel as a stopover for a skiing holiday between Lyon and La Plagne. We have used Etap Hotels as a convenient stopover for some time and although they are reliable for being clean and efficient, the managers can be occasionally a little clinical. The couple at this hotel were extremely warm and friendly and ensured we had a brilliant start to our holiday. It is slightly off the motorway and not well served for local restaurants, but I would thoroughly recommend this as a convenient place to stay.
"Ideal overnight stop"
18th June 2012, Eggwall, Teignmouth, United Kingdom
Stayed here for one night only en route to Italy. It looks like the hotel is being completely renovated - so our room had been recently decorated. Although the hotel is located on the southern edge of the town, there are supermarkets on a nearby industrial estate and a few restaurants within a reasonable distance. Good value for money
"Great stay and friendly staff"
20th April 2011, Leiden
Great stay and friendly staff about 100 km from ski resort like Val Thorens, Meribel, Courchevel. Located close to shopping area and close to Chambery city center. Very friendly and helpful staff as well.
