The hotel was in the middle of a refurbishment, but most of the staff were trying to ensure the smooth running of the establishment. We couldn't have the evening meal when we wanted due to a large party booking early on; however, when we arrived at the dining room, it seemed that most other people had been accommodated without a problem. The evening meal was good and good value. We didn't book breakfast as we were not sure whether we wanted it and at what time we would be getting up. So the next morning we went to the dining room and were refered to the reception area to book in; there was an older man there, who took the booking from the breakfast lady and pointed us back to the dining room without really acknowledging us. The full breakfast was very good and the breakfast lady was very helpful. On checking out of our room and returning to reception, there was some confusion about whether we had had breakfast, although we told the lady that we had. The older man came through and made a comment to the lady that, of course, it was our fault that he hadn't booked it in to the system, again without acknowledging us in any proper way (he certainly didn't realise that my wife is a fluent French speaker and understood what he was saying). Overall his manner was discourteous and abrasive and has put us off staying at Ibis Laon again. Being a fairly regular user and member of Accor hotels, our experience at Ibis Laon was poor, in particular as we have found staff in other Accor hotels respectful and welcoming.

Unfortunately my wife and I were very disappointed in our stay, though we appreciate there are ongoing upgrades going on in the hotel, our room had a damp smell to it, which must be noticed by in house staff!!! Had it not been for our late arrival travelling back home, we certainly would have chosen another hotel!! So I feel what we paid certainly did meet my expectations and left us feeling disappointed in our stay!!!

Really tiny family room, hotel being renovated and restaurant closed. No information when booking and tried phoning reception with no answer. We booked this hotel specifically for the restaurant as it was a late booking in the evening. Very disappointing when turning up that plastic was on the floor covering carpets and workmen coming in and out.

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. On our website it is indicated that we are under construction. We provide breakfast service but on weekends our restaurant is closed because we do not have many customers, however you can take snacks or walk to the nearest restaurant because it is a few minutes from the property. Since the work has not yet been completed, it is normal for the carpet already laid to be protected so as not to be soiled by the workers.
