Mercure Hotel Schwerin Altstadt: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Perfect Location"

20th February 2012, Fredericia

It would be impossible to find a better located hotel in Schwerin. Everything was within walking distance - the castle, Marstall, the theater, town museum, the towncenter, shopping and restaurants. The hotel is small but well equipped with very friendly and helpful staff. Rich breakfast buffet that lacked nothing.Only downside was an irritating bed on wheels.

my 14 year old daughter and I had a 1 night stop over on our return trip to Berlin. The location was perfect - central to the attractions of this beautiful city, all very easily accesible on foot. our room was small, but sufficient, 2 single beds pushed together. Hotel staff helpful, spoke good english. Our room was street level, which being a Satuday night was a liilt noisy, but not enough to bother us once asleep(exhausted on retiring!) My only issue with Schwerin, like most of Germany, is try and avoid a Sunday - no shops open, and hence the main area is significantly quieter than the atmosphere of the Saturday afternoon when we arrived. Would highly recommend for all else, just don't do a Sunday in Germany as a tourist wanting a relaxing end to a 3 week visit to this country. Bec & Samantha, Australia

Mercure Hotel Schwerin Altstadt: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Location good, rest not!"

9th August 2011, Cambourne

We booked at this hotel because they said that a roll away bed would be free, and we were traveling with our 5 and 2 year old (also the great location). We even upgraded to what was supposed to be a larger room and breakfast. The location was perfect, right downtown. The room was awful, small, and noone had cleaned behind the beds in months (it seemed). Worse yet, they had no roll away bed for us, and gave us a mattress to sleep on the floor - the hard floor. Plus our window faced the back courtyard and people were partying until midnight, with no air conditioning we weren't able to close the windows. Ended up with a crummy night of sleep and feeling awful. Breakfast was wonderful though and we did get free parking (5 Euro) because of the mattress mess up. Next time I'd stay somewhere else.

All over a very nice hotel. Jet a little noisy n the morning, from the street (garbage) and from the cleaning
