"A nice place to stay"
16th February 2013, Southpaw5019, Wellington, New Zealand
We enjoyed our stay the hotel was one of the only ones with a swimming pool. The food was excellent value $42 for a 3 course a la carte menu. A little bit out of town up a steep hill so a car or bus would be necessary. Fabulous views from the hotel of the lake. The decor was a bit tired but the staff were very friendly and provided excellent service.

"Great service and amazing views"
7th February 2013, Gore
We recently had 3 nights in the hotel and found great service from moment we went through the door. Great to have a carpark at the hotel, although there is a bus service to the shopping area for those without a car.We had a problem with the door one time but it was quickly sorted and the staff were very helpful.Found the choice good for buffet breakfast and great views of the lake out the window while eating.Pool was cold/refreshing on the hot days and deep.Fabulous gym, easy to access and very clean.

"Highly recommended"
7th February 2013, moonsister812, Auckland Region, New Zealand
We stayed at Mercure Resort Queenstown for 2 days as a family (2 adults & 2 children). Great value in money. Kids under 16 year old free of charge at breakfast. Staffs are very friendly & helpful, room is spacious. Although it's not in walk distance to town centre they do have shuttle bus running every 30 mins between hotel & town centre. Will definitely stay again

7th February 2013, Netmay, Cromwell, New Zealand
Although the hotel is old it was great to stay in and the staff were very welcoming. Great location and rooms were well equiped. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as it is value for money and one has a choice of paying less for a night stay.

"couldn't make an online booking yet charged the full amount..."
6th February 2013, minnienumber2, Glasgow, United Kingdom
Booked online through the mecure website. Gave credit card details and clicked 'next'....the next page revealed that unfortunately the last room of this type had been sold and no payment would be taken....'please click the back button and chose a different room type'...bla bla bla. I ended up booking a different hotel as I wasn't so keen on paying extra. Got a phone call while fast asleep in the other hotel at 9 in the morning from the mecure saying that I didn't turn up for my room and the full amount for the stay had been credited from my account. Pretty darn annoyed!! Gave them a ring....the lady seemed to question me and said this had never happened before. I told her that I wouldn't book a room and not turn up...what would be the point in that???? Received a full refund 5 days later.

"Mercure Resort Queenstown"
5th February 2013, TripperNZ, Christchurch, New Zealand
Great service from the hotel staff, clean spacious rooms. In house restaurant menu is of reasonable quality. Location of the hotel affords superb views of lake Wakatipu and the hotel is situated far enough from the centre of Queenstown to provide a peaceful and relaxing environment.

"average stay"
4th February 2013, catherine_chan_99, Adelaide, Australia
Excellent view of Lake Wakatipu. However, the room rate was slightly above average with only average room service. Distance to the room from the reception was too far and considering the evening sun shining right onto the room wall/ door, the room was pretty stuffy at night - fans were only available upon request. Breakfast menu were also over priced. There are way better hotels/ motels quality than this one in Queenstown...

Management responseThank you for your feedback. We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us.Our value for money rooms are situated to make the most of the fantastic views and sunshine hours in an Alpine environment which is part of the wonder of Queenstown. As you mention fans are readily avaliable and we did experience higher than normal temperatures in January. We do apologise this made for an uncomfortable stay for you. Kind regards,Michelle DentSales and Marketing Manager

"Disappointing accommodation"
4th February 2013, john_f_nidd, Dunedin, New Zealand
This was not a memorable stay with your hotel. The whole place was far too hot and is definitely lacking because of no air conditioning. We will not stay there again. We went down to have breakfast, but the given the heat abd smaell of body odour in the dining room, we went down town for a very pleaseant breakfast elsewhere.

Management responseThank you for your review. Unfortunately we did experience higher than normal levels of temperatures in January 2013 placing huge pressure on our air conditioning units. As you can appreciate during this very busy holiday time the restaurant was busy with lots of "Bodies", however we cannot recall and did not have any other reports of having body odor issues in our restaurant. We will certainly be diligent in looking out for this potential issue in the future!Kind regards,Michelle DentSales and Marketing Manager

"Pleasantly surprised"
31st January 2013, kiwikurt
Reviews were mixed but being a Le Club Accorhotels Gold member I got a good deal so decided to give it a go, glad I did.I've often found the Mercure brand a bit confused, seemingly boxed in by Ibis at one end and Novotel at the other but the Queenstown hotel seems to have found the right balance. The rooms are quite large although the bathroom is a bit on the small side. The view out to Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables is predictably stunning from the lake-side rooms. The general layout of the hotel seems to work quite well and it felt a comfortable place to be even in Summer (although the high of 11 C on the first day was pretty rough for someone who lives near the equator!).Walking down to the town is certainly doable, walking up is too but quite sporting going uphill. That said a bus seems to come to the hotel quite regularly.Lastly as is the norm in Queenstown the staff were from all over but all were very genuine, friendly and helpful.

"Our Stay at the Mercure"
31st January 2013, Aupaire, Christchurch, New Zealand
I found the hotel beautifully situated above Lake Wakitipu, easy to drive to and adequate parking. Well greeted on arrival, spacious room. Great heat pump for winter time but no air conditioning which I have recommended to the staff as temperatures had sored during out stay. Fine staff in the dining room, and excellent quick service on checkout. I would recommend friends stay in the Mercure, Queenstown.

Management responseThank you for your review. We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay with us and enjoyed our special location. As you know Queenstown is situated in a mountain alpine area and thus doesn’t usually experience such high temperatures. We are happy you experienced such great weather during your stay to enjoy the outdoors pursuits, but we sincerely apologise you were uncomfortable with the heat in your room.We do hope you will return to us again soon,Kind Regards,Michelle Dent Sales and Marketing Manager
