Mercure Wellington: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Wellington Trip"

10th May 2012, Tuhoe1, Hamilton, New Zealand

The Hotel seemed a bit out of the way in terms of shopping but the view from the restaurant is magnificent so there is a compromise. Service was excellent - the staff very friendly and very helpful - amongst the best I have ever experienced. Food at the restaurant for dinner was superb. Beds were comfortable and room quiet. Made for a very enjoyable stay. Will return.

Mercure Wellington: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Wellington Escape"

13th April 2012, nmnnir, Tauranga

Hotel is close to many attractions and still in quiet and peaceful locality. We managed to walk with our boys (aged 6 & 9 year) to City Centre, Museums, Parliament, Cuba street, Cable Car etc. Hotel reception provided us with map with all the details of key attractions.Recommended to carry jacket and head gear(for kids) while walking even during day time. Wellington can be windy and chilly at a time.

Mercure Wellington: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Very Average"

11th April 2012, San Diego, California, USA

We would not recommend this specific hotel due to the quality of the rooms. But on the trip we did stay at the Mecure in Auckland and would recommend that one.

Mercure Wellington: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Opportunities for Improvements"

11th April 2012, TempleofPeace, Hong Kong

This is a nice Mercure in a good location on the quieter end of The Terrace. But while Mercure is a French-themed, global brand, there isn't much French about this place. I asked the staff about this and they were bemused! Compared to other Mercures in Australasia, it is OK; compared with Mercures globally it is a little less delightful. The carpets are a little worn, the breakfast is pricy - but the views across the city are nice.

Management responseDear TempleofPeace Accor traveler Hong KongThank you for choosing to stay with us recently and for taking the time to post your feedback.I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and found that our location was convenient to your requirements. We are currently replacing some of our guest room’s carpets and the room you stayed in is due to have new carpet installed during May.I have noted your comments about the Mercure Brand. Accor hospitality is a French based Hotel company who own and manage hotels. The Mercure Brand is a non standardised global mid scale brand. Hence the variation of hotels as it is based on the individuality of the hotel, while the Mercure branding is standardised.Thank you for your continued loyalty and we look forward to welcoming you back to an Accor hotel in the near future.Kind regards,Rob PooleMercure Wellington

Mercure Wellington: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Mecure Accommodation"

31st March 2012, Whangarei, New Zealand

The service was excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly. I ate in the restaurant and the food was fresh and tasty. My room was quiet and clean. The laundry room was a bonus after a biking trip in the south island.

Mercure Wellington: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Comfortable Hotel in a Great little City"

30th March 2012, Sydney, Australia

Stayed for a weekend this stay (and have stayed three or four times each year for the last ten years).Beds are comfortable with rooms quite roomy and windows that open enough to allow fresh air to circulate. Many rooms have a view out to the harbour. Management helpful.Best floors 7,8 and 9.While not right in the centre of the city it is close enough and quiet.

Mercure Wellington: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Happy visitor"

28th March 2012, Kaitaia

Hey its not a new hotel but a good sized, clean and tidy room and friendly helpful staff made for a very pleasant stay.

Mercure Wellington: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Overcharge for parking"

20th March 2012, Palmerston North, New Zealand

I've always enjoyed this hotel for quiet location and consistent good service and value for money. However, I was extremely disappointed on my most recent visit to find that they have quadrupled their charge for overnight parking of your vehicle from $5 to $20. Considering I can get a while day's parking in Wellington for $9 this does seem a bit steep. Come on Mercure- dont shoot yourself in the foot with this kind of gouging- It leaves a bad impression with your customers even if the amount seems relatively small.

View management response »

Management responseDear Accor Traveler Palmerston NorthThank you for you recent feedback about your stay at Mercure Wellington. I would like to thank you for you loyalty and comments about the location and service you experience when you stay. The hotel recently increased its car parking from $18.00 to $20.00, these prices are less than other Hotel car parking charges which are $25.00 plus and also public parking buildings who charge more. Living in a major New Zealand City parking is becoming more expensive. Thanks for your feedback.Kind regards,Rob PooleGeneral ManagerMercure Wellington

Mercure Wellington: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Birthday evening"

15th March 2012, Picton, New Zealand

I was very disappointed with our room. It was extremely expensive $243, I only booked a Queen Bed room. We were put in what they called a suite, old, noisy, cleanliness not bad, reasonable view. but not what I wanted for that price. I think we could have been put in a much nicer room for that rate. I have just been on the web and the most expensive Queen Bed room for Saturday night at Easter is $150 Member Rate NOT $243 - outrageous. Staff were very friendly and breakfast great! I didn't want to join Accor again but got a very pushy sales lady so decided I would give them one more chance as I was a founding member of the other Accor Group for Members Rates. I gave up because I always got put in below average rooms which I can't be bothered with any more. I don't go away to stay in below average rooms. Sort it out. By the way I am actually staying at this hotel in a group of 6 in September for WOW so hope I get a far better room then:)ThanksDonna

Mercure Wellington: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Old World Charm"

8th March 2012, fourofuss66, Ohakune, New Zealand

The Mecure on the Terrace.is the hotel we always stay in when we visit Wellington We find the staff helpful and friendly. We've always had excellent service.. This time even though we'd booked a standard room we found we'd been upgraded to a suite . Thankyou .Although some rooms could do with a revamp ,as they are showing their age ,we enjoy the Old World Charm it offers and will continue to stay at this hotel

Mercure Wellington: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great hotel"

7th March 2012, Pukekohe, New Zealand

My husband and I had a lovely two nights in this great hotel,. We found the staff very friendly and the service was excellent. We had an, awesome breakfast. Unfortunately we did not have time to use the swimming pool, maybe next time.

Mercure Wellington: 4.0 out of 5 stars "When in Wellington"

1st March 2012, wiredforsoundnz, Waikato

Like this Mecure and usually stay here when in Wellington, (has been booked out at times) the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast in house and the food was lovely, The dinner staff were pleasant but could of been a bit more clued up on the menu and wine list. The only issues I could find fault with was the cheese platter, it was truely sad, and the salt pool, we had a lovely swim but our eyes were so sore afterwards, maybe the levels need to be checked more often. All in all a good place to stay

The Chef is also reviewing the cheese platter with his team. The swimming pool is not a salt pool. We have had no other reported problems with the level of chlorine and the pool is checked each day on a regular bases. Mercure Wellington: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Upper Wellington NZ"

28th February 2012, 288anne_Australia, Sydney, Australia

A good comfortable hotel located high up on the Terrace with good views over the town and harbour. Service good, food at Dinner was excellent-superb lamb and fish . This is an older hotel which has been refurbished well and offers all modern technology options and pleasant common areas. There is an indoor pool and spa in the basement . You will need good walking shoes to get into town which is a pleasant but steep 15 min walk . Plenty of taxis available if needed.

Mercure Wellington: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Nice place but stuffed up my booking"

23rd February 2012, Wellington, New Zealand

This place is nice but i booked a room with 2 beds and was given just one bed, when i asked them to check what records they had they said oh yes i had booked that room but had paid for a suite, was not impressed and no offer to fix the problem was offered

Mercure Wellington: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Family weekend"

18th February 2012, Auckland Central, New Zealand

We received friendly efficient service that met our needs. The adjoining rooms were just what we needed for a family traveling with two teenagers and two 21 year olds. The location enabled us to walk to wherever we wanted to go during the day.We only used the restaurant, for breakfast was great. We liked least the lack of power points in the rooms and bathrooms for phone chargers, iron, and hair styling tools.
