ibis Styles Ouistreham (anciennement Mercure): 3.0 out of 5 stars "The problems of twin rooms"

10th May 2012, Gallois-_12, Carcassonne, France

I stayed in room 207 which is supposed to be a twin room, with the beds separated by a reasonable distance - as per the illustration on the internet. Because of the complicated layout of this room, it is too small to allow any real separation of the beds and is really only suitable to be used as a room with a double bed - which I did not want as I was travelling with my son.

ibis Styles Ouistreham (anciennement Mercure): 4.0 out of 5 stars "Cute Theme, small room"

11th April 2012, Greenville, South Carolina, USA

First there was the difficulty finding / identifying the hotel. I had booked a stay at a Mercure only a few weeks earlier, and there was no visible indication that this Ibis had ever been a Mercure - but it was, and they had my reservation. The nautical theme was cute: rooms are called "cabines" and they have round portholes and wave themes here and there. Everything was very clean. The location is great. The quality of the bed was very good. The breakfast was decent, typical of French hotels with breads, pastries, ham, cheese, fruits, yogurt, etc. (no hot food).Negatives: the room was very small. Ibis seems to specialize in minimal guest supplies for the bathroom - just one multi-purpose liquid cleaner instead of the separate soap, shampoo and conditioner found in most other hotels. While we were there there was no one on staff who was fluent in English. They have gated (surface) parking that's a bit inconvenient because although there is a visible stairway from the parking lot into the hotel, it's not usable; you have to walk around the hotel to or from the reception area.
