Our first time in this hotel. Very nice historic building and grounds. Room quite small but dependent on the original building dimensions and well appointed. Breakfast was not up to usual Mercure standards, but assume that was a one-off.
Dear J-N-London, We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Hôtel de Bourbon Mercure Bourges. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback. I will share your comments with our team. I am sure that this feedback will serve as an encouragement to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope your next visit will be as pleasant as the previous one. Sincerely,
Hotel very nice, breakfast very good but avoid the restaurant as the quality is poor. The menu was limited and unchanged from 15 months before, the butcher's cut was rubbish, badly butchered and dreadfully cooked. I gave mine to the dog. The potatoes were uncooked, my wife's chips were raw and blanched in a tainted oil. Burnt lettuce as the other vegetable shows what a novice this chef is, Go elsewhere to eat.
Dear 12223tripadv, First, thank you for leaving your comments about your recent stay in our hotel. Regarding your experience in the restaurant, I need to inform you that the restauarnt is not a part of the hotel. The hotel and the restaurant are 2 differents societies. We just work together for the comfort of our guest. But i will transfer to the restaurant the different points you have mentionned ! I apologizes for your bad experience you have met during your dinner at the restaurant. We hope to see you soon in Bourges for a future stay in our hotel. Sincerely
The staff were lovely and really tried but the room and especially the bathroom are not really suitable for the wheelchair dependent. The door to the bathroom wasn't wide enough given the angle needed to get to it. there was a bath rather than a wet room.
We have two special rooms adapted for wheelchairs. The one you got was not. We are preparing a renovation of every rooms and bathrooms and will create a third room adapted. We did not get the information about the need of adapted room for you and then couldn't manage for you during your stay. sorry for that. Thierry PUYFAGES
Room, guest areas and garden were excellent. However, the restaurant is not under the hotel's control and is shut every Monday, plus we stayed there on 14th July, and it was shut agin then... two days in a row! Having to leave the hotel to find dinner did not please us!
Thank you very much for having chosen our hotel. We are sorry about the fact that the restaurant would be closed. This is a discussion we often have with the owner of the restaurant. Best regards Thierry PUYFAGES
This was our second stay at this hotel and we are planning our third visit. The hotel is very convenient for the railway station ( a level 300 metre walk) and also convenient for the central area shopping and restaurant/café facilities/sightseeing. Arranged an early check-in at time of booking and, on arrival at the hotel just after 11 am, the room was ready. On our first visit, we noted that the hotel's restaurant menu was only in French and commented that it would have been helpful to be in English as well. We were delighted to see on this visit that the menu is now in both French and English. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
This place is exactly half way through our journey so very convenient. We've stayed a number of times in the hotel, it's in a great location in a beautiful building with parking and a good restaurant. BUT the rooms are getting a little tired now and need updating. The staff are generally good but the bar could do with better attention.
I confirm you that the rooms need to be refreshed. We are preparing the action for next year in order to give this beautiful hotel the rooms corresponding to the building. Regarding the bar, I will also have a barman exclusive for the bar and with the attention needed by our guests. Waiting for welcoming you soon
We loved this hotel. It is in a beautiful setting yet close into town to visit the sights. Wonderful breakfast too in an amazing restaurant. We did not have dinner because it was Sunday . Staff were very friendly and helpful. we would recommend to others.
Very comfortable and impressive location in fantastic old building . Lovely spacious room. Good for restaurants, bars and shops. Free on site parking. Excellent breakfast in room at no extra cost. Staff professional but a little officious.
This is a lovely hotel part of which is an old abbey, although we had rooms in the new wing. The rooms are clean and spacious, bathrooms equally so, with nice touches like toiletries, robes and slippers. It is a short walk into the town which is interesting and full of bars and restaurants. All the staff were very helpful and friendly and speak excellent English. Another nice touch is the ability to sit outside and enjoy the gardens. There is also excellent free parking. We did not use the restaurant in the hotel but it looked lovely especially for an occasion. I will definitely stay again.
Good hotel, well located, excellent food both at dinner and breakfast. Was disappointed that the white wine was served tepid as was the water at dinner. Reception staff were most helpful and parking facilities are excellent.
