"Good enough for one night, but not the best value for money"
12th April 2012, xxxBarcelona_Spain, Barcelona, Spain
The hotel is huge, but rather run down. Carpets are old, furniture and bathrooms are shabby and in urgent need of a makeover. The hotel is not in the city centre, but central enough. You can walk to the centre in 15min or use the complimentary hotel shuttle service. The hotel is charging for the WIFI access code which is quite surprising for most guest houses and cafes in Laos offer free WIFI access. When we arrived the TV was not working so we asked to have the WIFI fee waived as a compensation. This was declined which I found not too customer friendly. The room was rather big, but again rather run down and the bathroom quite dirty and dusty. Breakfast was good though and they have a nice bar/restaurant by the pool on the ground floor.
"Nice hotel, good meals, good rooms, comfortable"
3rd March 2012, royvince, Melbourne, Australia
Basicly its want you want in a hotel in a far away country, giving good service with comfort and cleanliness. I did notice in the comments book at the hotel from one guest that the front rooms are noisey but having a room overlooking the pool at the rear we had no problem in that regard. I thought it was unusual following my recent stays several Accor hotels that a charge to use the internet and wifi systems in the hotel was levied, which also had a time limit on it and was difficult to end you session and keep a time credit. However the charge is somewhat low so it is a minor point. Did have a minor maintenance problem in that the room sink plug fitting would not hold water, reported it for repair twice, but not repaired. In saying all that I can state that our stay was enjoyable, the staff good, and the hotel added to our enjoyment of Vientianne
"Very dissapointed"

I made a reservation in advance by accor website. But the hotel did not recognise it. They inform me that it is my problem!

"30 years too early"
2nd February 2012, bangkok
This hotel is for old people. When I checked in the lobby was full of elderly French travellers - I told the check-in staff that I had a reservation but I thought I was 30 years too early :) Vientiane is a lovely place and this hotel is on the edge of town - a 15 minute walk to the centre of the city - not too far but honestly this hotel exemplifies blandness. I'm sure at one time it was THE hotel to stay at in Vientiane but now its just dull... and full of old people...
"one lousy night"
14th September 2011, Bangkok, Thailand
Old hotel with dirty carpets and air con which is not working too well. 3 star at it's best. Needs upgrading and renovation ! Walls are paper thin and did not enjoy the party in the next room. Warm water was OK early in the morning , but luke warm coming back from breakfast.

"Very friendly Staff"
24th March 2011, gold coast
We had never been to Vientiane before so decided to stay at The Novotel to be safe. The first thing we noticed on arrival was the friendliness of the staff. Then we were pleasantly surprised when we got to the room.It was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. The hotel is not right in the centre of town but it is only a short walk to get there. If you dont want to walk there are plenty of tuk tuks available for 10,000 kip per person ($1.30)
"Good option"
25th January 2011, abu dhabi
The Hotel is not perfectly located but still within a walking area of most attractions in Vientiane. The free WiFi in the hotel lobby was great. Service by staff was always friendly. Service by the Executive Assistant Manager, Mr Salim and the Front Office Officer Ms Shirly was excellent. Food at the buffet could use some improvements.
"disappointing service"
11th January 2011, Singapore
The hotel restaurant and pool were renovated. The promised upgrading of the room and free cocktail was not given to us. Free tennis court was a plus. However, our room was not cleaned during our two days stay and no apology given! We did not taste the meals, but ate outside in town with plenty good restaurants. Dangerous noisy road in front of the hotel, difficult crossing. Noise from the road disturbs sleeping.
