"Why stay in the city?"
1st May 2012, RecruiterBrisbane, Brisbane
Just a short trip from the Adelaide CBD is Mt Lofy House and I will hesitate before staying in the CBD again. The service is excellent. The food is excellent. The view and the atmosphere is simply stunning. I finished business for the day and headed up to Mount Lofty House in the dark and rain. I was greeted by a sophisticated but warm atmosphere, a beautiful restaurant and an excellent bed and shower. Took a champagne up to my room and ordered room service. Booked a late checkout. Had a great sleep, an early breakfast and back to bed for a couple of hours. Drove next door for a walk through the Botanical Gardens before heading out to the airport and home. And that made this business trip feel like a treat. Mid week rate was $134. A bargain.
"the weddings we didnt attend"

Great place to stay with great service and food. The downside is the number of weddings and resulting noise levels in evening.

"Would love a glass of wine by an open fire!"
24th July 2011, Melbourne
We loved our stay great views and charming buildings but were rather disappointed that there was not a lounge area with a bar and an open fire. So we went to our room and put on the aircon (no ambiance) and had a drink from the mini bar, not our idea of a drink to unwind after a day of travel. Our friends in Adelaide were also surprised that there wasn't an open fire especially when the weather was sooooo cold. Hope you find this helpfulRegards Jane Sheffield
"not what we expected"
6th July 2011, Sydney
Hotel was not what we expected. The photos we saw on the internet of the aspect and rooms were not a true reflection of the hotel and aspect that you get from the rooms. We booked a deluxe spa room and requested on the online booking to have a vineyard lookout. When we arrived we were given a very dark room under one of the restaurants with no natural light and outlook. When we requested to change room we were given a room that was not clean - had hair and dust all over the back of the couch, bottle caps not collected, floor not vacuumed. We ended up leaving the hotel earlier than expected as we couldn't stay another night. This hotel is in need of refurbishment and a good clean. I would also recommend that they refresh the photos on their website to provide people a truer reflection of what they will experience.Hotel staff were generally friendly but were lacking in customer service.
"Lovely Getaway from the city"
23rd June 2011, Adelaide
Beautiful location and morning views were gorgeous. Restaurant food was delicious and the service was friendly and accommodating. Favourite part was in the morning enjoying yummy breakfast with views! The manor style hotel was lovely to explore but aside from the reception and restaurant, the building was very cold......our room also remained cool even with the air conditioner cranked up (the system seemed old). The tv was too far away to watch in bed and on a cold winter's evening that was the best place to be. Tasteful decor albeit a little tired. We were told that new carpet/renovations were afoot. Would go back just for the friendly service and views !
"Peaceful and Romantic Getaway"
21st June 2011, Adelaide
Mount Lofty House is nestled on top of Mt. Lofty in the Adelaide Hills and even though it is very handy to local towns, feels a very secluded hideaway. We really enjoyed the position of our room, overlooking the Piccadilly Valley, and the 'old' heritage feeling and comfort of Hotel/House. A great getaway :)
"Comfort out of the city"
27th May 2011, sydney
Old style charm, with fantastic views. Great location and hotel had all necessary as a launching spot for the vineyards in Barossa and McLaren Value, and beyond. Breakfast was terrific, but disappointed about value for money for meals in restaurant otherwise.
"HIstorical and interesting"
7th May 2011, lwcarden, Queensland
A beautiful heritage hotel, in the process of remedying some neglect re maintenance. The area is full of great places to visit. Most interesting aspect was that the Disabled bay was unattainable having been enclosed by a patio built out from the old stables. Staff were absolutely fantastic and the service was second to none. Food was above average and wine list was extensive.Major problem was that the bathroom was mouldy on tiles and on ceiling. This is a total regrouting issue which is in hand according to the manager.
"Adelaide Hills"
9th February 2011, Canberra
We had a fabulous time at Mount Lofty House. We stayed in the heritage wing and absolutely loved it. The views every morning and evening were fantastic. The closeness to the vineyards made it a great location for daily excursions around some interesting town and villages. Have already recommended this motel to friends.
"Great Getaway Venue"
5th February 2011, Brisbane
This was the first night of a 5 day 'getaway' break and we found it a great place to unwind and relax with friendly and courteous staff with great food and wines. From what we saw, it would also be an ideal place to hold small functions and celebrations.
"Half price deals compromise room allocation"
25th January 2011, melbourne
Excellent location, we weren't happy with our room location, with booking 10 weeks in advance you'd think a room overlooking the gardens or a view of something would have been available for our two night stay. Our view of the garden shed wasn't ideal, especially given the alternatives. We would return but specify a garden view room off the verandah.
