"VALUE FOR MONEY!"
1st September 2013, Maniroyal
This hotel is 10 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the night market..They have a free shuttle to the night market and charge only 100THB for an airport drop.It is an old hotel. so don't expectanything fancy, even a flat screen tv.. However, the rooms are spacious and clean.I can't comment much on F&B as I ordered only a pizza, as a promotion was going on and I rate the pizza at the most average and ended up not ordering any more meal.View management response »

"Nice hotel, cheap but you should certainly upgrade rooms"
20th August 2013, jssokolo, Madrid
I think a lot of people have reviewed about this and I didn't take their advice until I got there, but you should definitely request the 5th floor where all the rooms have been renovated. Little did I know upon checking in that we were on the 3rd floor, which is a smoking floor. I'm allergic to smoke, so pretty quick I can tell something is wrong and then I check the hotel floor map and notice that there are different smoking and non smoking floors. We were offered an upgrade using a cashback offer we had when we checked in, but we had plans on using the cash back for food and beverage in the hotel. It didn't take long for us to reconsider. We upgraded rooms and I couldn't have been happier. Where the old room was just that, old. The new room was modern and what you would expect out of the hotel room in 2013. The old room with it's stained carpets looks like something from the 70s and the new rooms gorgeous tile work gave it a look of clean, freshness that allowed me to breath easy again. The beds at this place are huge. Probably the largest beds I've ever seen. Enough to sleep the Walton's, Brady Bunch or the Cosby's! The pool at this place is the center piece. It's located on the 3rd floors, it's been recently renovated and it's stunning. We stayed there 3 days and made it a point to schedule our plans around pool sessions. The hotel offers an evening shuttle to the night market, which makes leaving very convenient but coming back you'll probably need a taxi, red truck or tuk tuk, none of which have a problem finding the hotel. All in all, I would stay again if ever in Chiang Mai, but you better believe I'll be booking the mid price room.View management response »

"Clean and nice bed"
14th August 2013, Nenee7, Bangkok
I was staying in superior room which has a very large bed, no carpet and clean. The hotel is in the same area as tops supermarket so it's very convenient. The breakfast is not as fancy but it was ok. I would recommend if you stay for business but not with family as the swimming pool is quite small and not many things for childrenView management response »

Excellent hotel down town but still quite area. Need transport to animated areas. There is free shuttle service to night bazar and night markets. "Another great Mercure Chaing Mai stay"
8th July 2013, hastings
I've stayed at this property each year for the past 5 to 6 years and each time I return it's like your coming back home, a very freindly and warm welcome, the rooms are of excellent size, the bed is the largest i've every seen. This hotel offers a free shuttle service to the night market, a welcome addition to the shopping. Great value for money in this northern Thailand location, would recommend this hotel everytime. It looks like they've renovated the outside and lobby area; time to hit the rooms! Poor bathrooms and old carpeting, I like almost all the Accor properties I've stayed in, but this one needs a facelift.View management response »

"Mercure Chiang Mai"
3rd March 2013, Walterjandrew, Hanoi, Vietnam
We stayed for four nights. Room was in very good condition, marble tile floor, up to standard of Mercure. Located next to a large Tops grocery with great selection of breads, cheese, beer etc. catering to expat crowd. About a 10-15 minute walk to walled old city. There is a bus station 5 minutes away - you can ride the small red vans for 20 baht, shared ride. Sometimes you pay more if you are going alone. There was a few odors in the bathroom drain in the morning, but it went away after running water. Good value if you get a good deal.
"ok but a bit aside"
1st March 2013, Roland-Samui, Koh Samui, Thailand
A very welcoming reception staff with very good english skills. The rooms are nice and clean with enough of space. Same the bathroom. The hotel is a bit away of the shopping and restaurant area of C.M. and Tuk Tuk's or taxis are just available at the street next to the hotel. They do not pass by at the hotel entrance, so take a short walk to the street. The prices at the hotel restaurant are to high.View management response »

"Very nice hotel"
22nd February 2013, aySydney_Australia, Sydney, Australia
When I go to Chiang Mai, I always stat at this hotel. It is 10minutes away from town centre, but you can get transport easily and does not cost much. The rooms are very spacious, clean, usually quiet. Rooms are always kept clean, although carpet needs the update in standard room, deluxe room floor is renovated to tile, so feels much cleaner. Staff are nice and friendly. Very good value for the price you pay.

The hotel was disappointing for the advertised 4star rating, more like 2.5. We had booked and requested an early check in but had to wait one hour despite confirmation. The room was large enough but very sterile, no hotel directory for their services (numbers to ring, facilities etc.). Contacted reception told "just ring us if you want something”, laundry bag was delivered etc. but no new one left so had to ask every day. Towels were very grey and well used, would be ok for three stars or less. Breakfast facilities were disappointing, the bacon was behind the counter we did not find bacon until we saw a piece on someone plate. It was not kept warm/hot. Not a good western cooked breakfast, coffee would run out, no salt and pepper on tables had to search for this every day. Location was a real pain, would have been ok if there were taxi's readily available but when we asked for one we were constantly told to go up to the corner and get a ride...Tuk tuks not easy with arthritis. As the hotel was located some distance from Night Markets etc., this was a real issue. Felt the location was too far from the night activities if taxi service not readily available. We booked through the Accor Club and rely on their rating but was well short of 4star. We have stayed in older hotels before and they were great this one really needs work; you could not lock the door in the lobby toilets. If it were rated appropriately, we would not have chosen this hotel. First trip to Chiang Mai so not familiar with costs and location went purely by club rating.
