Great room with usual Novotel comforts

Hotel is ageing, but gracefully. Rooms are functional, clean and quiet. Location is good for access to CBD and city amenities. Nice walk to river. Food was good, with a range on offer. Struggled to get a hot meal however, with both restaurant and room service served lukewarm. Pub was excellent for food and drinks. Check-in was a bit slow, with only two clerks on shift. Made better on check-out.

As a platinum Accor member the hotel always try and upgrade me which is appreciated. Efficient and friendly staff on the front desk. Special mention to the ladies in the restaurant serving breakfast who work really hard and very welcoming.

 I am a Diamond ALL and Accor Plus member member, stayed with you earlier this week (7-12 April) and would like to offer you the following feedback. There was no recognition of my ALL status at check-in; however, the process was both professional and prompt. Thank you for the early check-in and room upgrade to 505 with a lovely view. I wonder what the view would have been like on the higher floors. Our Welcome Gift and bottled water were delivered to our room when we returned on the first night. Your Reception, Cleaning and Breakfast staff were all very professional. I was very disappointed that as a Diamond member I could not redeem a complimentary drink voucher for a glass of sparkling wine at your Champaign Bar. I was advised that they could only be used for red or white wine only! I chose to pay for the sparkling my wife wanted and had two complimentary reds myself. We have enjoyed a number of other Accor properties where they annotate the drink vouchers with the member’s ALL status and offer a range of drinks based on that status. Breakfast was good, but highly repetitive and some of the hot dishes could have been maintained at a higher temperature. I suspect eggs could be made to order, but kitchen staff were infrequently visible. The barista coffee was much better than that from your self-serve machines. Your On Demand movies and TV shows were terribly out of date and with atrocious sound balancing. This is a Novotel, not an Ibis Budget! Your public areas were in better condition than I was lead to believe from reading the Accor Plus Facebook reviews. However, the furniture in our room as quite dated and it lacked things like USB outlets or a convenient bedside outlet. No information was provided on charging Fenigans purchases to our room, but we did get the Accor Plus discount on our food purchased there. Your no-cash policy is understood, but it prevented me from easily tipping your Housekeeping staff on our last morning. Overall, our stay was enjoyable, but on balance, we will probably try another Accor property for our next. staycation.

The room was nice and big although a little dated. Staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful. Need power outlets near bedside to charge devices which are also used as alarms. TV needs a sleep timer function. Those suggestions didn't detract from our stay at all, and given as suggested improvements. Thank you.

Executive suite is very noisy

At check in, I was waved from the priority check in line without a proper greeting. It was as though the attendant didn't want to serve me or think I wasn't fit for using that isle. If he had have said, Sorry I'm busy please go to the other isle' or something like that it would have been fine. The people that served me, including the trainee were very good ☺️ On first impression the room was very good. Very tidy. Very close to the gym. The gym facilities were good. I enjoyed an approx 45 min workout. Beautiful view from the observation lounge. I set up for thr next day where I had a very important full day of testing. I tried going to bed at 830pm as I had to leave by 515am or so. I used ear plugs because it sounded like a laundry was above me. I took videos; water running constantly through the walls and big fans sounding like spin cycles on washing machines. I called reception and I'm very grateful that they moved me. I got a downgraded room which to be honest was still very noisy. I was honestly very grateful for the move and didn't want to complain again but there was a lot of noise coming from outside that sounded like industrial fans operating. The bed was so uncomfortable and hard that I had to use the spare blanket in the wardrobe and half of the blanket to lie on to feel somewhat comfortable. I think I got a couple of hours sleep which was very bad for my test. I did pass, but it wasn't a nice experience. The same man that was rude earlier at reception was very good helping me with a new room. I feel like he redeemed himself. I've stayed at lots of hotels. I'm a gold member and accor plus member. I stayed at the Mercure for 3 nights approx 2 weeks before Novotel Langley. I never experienced anything bad at Mercure, and I've had very good experiences with lots of hotels around the world. Sometimes I used other providers as my wife does the booking. I was offered a free breakfast but said that I'd be leaving by 530 latest so that was revoked. Overall it was a beautiful place but I can't believe how noisy it was and that noone has ever raised it or nothing has been done about it. Thanks
