"Never stay the same place twice"
23rd September 2013, adamnali, Perth, Australia
We chose to stay here for a 2nd time, after a good experience the first time a year earlier, we will not be staying here again. Very poor service upon checking in, no offer of help with our four large suitcase and other luggage (we had just finished 4weeks of travel around) 2 small toddlers. Had to ask down several times for a cot, that had been pre booked. When it finally arrived it was like a leaning tower or Pisa, very unsafe, with it collapsing with minimal touch.Poor design of bathroom, with not being able to have the shower on full as it soaks the toilet paper as there is not screen or curtain for the shower.Breakfast is very poor in quality, lack of freshness, things out of frozen packets I can buy from Woolworths, loads of fruit flies, strawberries and cheeses so dry, must have been put away and out each morning for days without being changed, nothing was labelled, several mornings I had to ask which was full cream and skim milk. On our second morning having breakfast, Trainee Manager, George Bell made a very rude comment to us as we entered about our kids were going to tear up his restaurant. Our kids were very well behaved. Many issues with checking out.Issues with parking and not being able to park.Very unimpressed and will not be staying here on future visits.

"Very happy overall with Mercure"

I went with my twin daughters to stay at the Mercure for a little shopping trip and to see a show at QPAC. We arrived early to ask them to hold our luggage and to our surprise our room was ready early. We loved the room décor, the beds were so comfy and the pillows great. After reading reviews on Trip Advisor so many people had written that they were lucky enough to be upgraded to a river view room. We had purchased a special deal that was for a city view room but I thought I would enquire about an upgrade. The rooms on higher floors were booked out for conferences and if I did want a river view room it was an extra $20 a night. I wasn't one of the lucky ones that were just offered a free upgrade but that didn't worry me. (I chose to spend the extra money on shopping instead of upgrading) We wandered down the hallway and looked out at the river view from a side window, that was enough for us! I got what I booked and we were still very happy. Helpful staff, great location, not noisy at all on the 5th floor except for some people arriving home late from partying, but that didn't last long.Buffet breakfast was lovely, I paid for myself and the kids ate free which is really great. It was a novelty to them so they enjoyed it. We'll stay again for sure.
"Very enjoyable stay at the Brisbane Mercure"

Very enjoyable stay at the Brisbane Mercure, although the hotel is a little dated, it was 4 star standard. Room was pleasant with views over Brisbane River and Southbank.Restaurant meals, breakfast and dinner quite acceptable and reasonably priced.Wine list a little limited but selection OK.

Drainage blocked and could not be fixed in 3 days after the notice. No adaptor provided at the front desk.Insects observed in the room.Good location, convenient to shooping center, and the Culture Ceter in South Bank is n walk distence.
"River View Room"
17th August 2013, pjl457, NSW Australia
Booked online for a 2 night stay in Superior 2 Double bed room. Upon checkin the room only had 1 Double and 1 single. Lucky only 3 in our party. Also nothing on website about parking. Had to pay $54 extra. View of river excellent at night and beds comfortable.View management response »

"Mercure- Location & Value"

Great location - handy to south bank , the city mall for shopping and restaurants, Hotel has a good restaurant and bar area and convention facilities, parking is easy although you can wait for your car to be free due to double parkingView management response »
Management responseThank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at the Mercure Brisbane. I am pleased that you were impressed with our hotel facilities and central location; it’s great that we have access to some of the city’s main attractions right on our doorstep. It is unfortunate the public car park utilized by the hotel does fill up very quickly which then requires cars to be double parked. I have passed on your feedback about the wait period for gaining access to your vehicle to the Manager of the Secure Car Park. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to welcome you back in the near future. Kind regards, Monika KolakowskiAssistant Night Manager

Overall had a great stay. Accessible. Close to City. River views excellent (only if you have a river view room). Room was recently renovated and very modern and comfortable. Seafood buffet has ceased which was a little disappointing.View management response »
Management responseThank you for taking the time to write a review following your recent stay with us. It was great to read that you enjoyed the hotel’s central location and were pleased with the new modern décor in our hotel rooms. Unfortunately our reputable and much loved Seafood Buffet promotion has ended. However, Quays Restaurant does offer a la carte menu with a vast selection of modern Australian cuisine items that are bound to satisfy your taste buds. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your experience and I hope you may have the opportunity to visit us again soon. Kind regards, Monika KolakowskiAssistant Night Manager
"Problems with accor website marketing"
8th August 2013, raul_perezcabrera, Brisbane, Australia
I stayed at this hotel for an event held within; my only real problem was that what I booked did not end up looking or having the same purpose as what I expected, as apparently the 'marketing team' had mistakenly used a wrong picture and description for the type of room I rented. This meant that I paid a considerably high amount of money (40%+) for a small bedroom, only in exchange of 'free bottled water, newspaper and complimentary internet'. Nothing better in the bedroom than otherwise normal ones. After making my complaint to reception, they couldn't give me the room I had believed to have booked; and after complaining to the rooms division manager I'm still waiting for a reply a few days after having let them known of my dissatisfaction. While front desk staff did try to be helpful and were always polite, I unfortunately rated service as poor because the 'big guys' don't seem to care as much about their clients.Housekeeping is random, some are very nice and efficient; while other housekeepers are just polite but a bit more lazy. For instance our bedsheets weren't changed during the entire stay despite us hoping they would be without having to ask for it, the tables were still dirty from previous guests (and were never properly cleaned) and even cutlery (tea spoons) were obviously dirty.Rooms aren't bad for a 3 star hotel, but the lack of balconies is pretty noticeable; bathrooms are very small even on the larger bedrooms. The only upside is that the hotel is surprisingly quiet for being right next to Brisbane's main streets.I don't think however that the hotel, being a 3 star accommodation is worth 250-260$ per night for the type of room I booked.

Management responseThank you for taking the time to review our hotel. While I note your more positive feedback regarding the friendliness of our staff, I am of course very sorry to learn that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations, particularly in relation to your room allocation, and the cleanliness of the room. I wish to assure you that we have reviewed our room allocation procedure to ensure that we are meeting all guest booking requirements to the best of our ability. I also welcome your feedback regarding the advertising pictures and have passed your comments onto the sales and marketing team. Thank you again for your review and I hope that this does not deter you from trying us again. Kind regards, Monika KolakowskiAssistant Night Manager

Everything except the food and the parking had improved since we stayed there five years ago. No choice with the parking at $27, but if we had not had the Advantage Plus discount we would have eaten elsewhere.
