Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 1.0 out of 5 stars "Very Disappointing"

5th March 2013, Jacques P, South Shields, United Kingdom

Long queue at reception. We had booked online a "Standard Queensize Room" (175€ per night) and were given a room with the toilet in the bathroom and no bath tube (obviously half a suite room). As we had pre-paid for dinner at the hotel restaurant (19€ for a two course meal) we were not allowed any choice on the A la Carte menu.At the bar and restaurant, service was slow and not really friendly.Definitely, not good value for money.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Some difficulties, but overall avarege accomodation"

8th February 2013, fasicioglu, Istanbul, Turkey

There was an renovation activity at the hotel. Because of this, First night we had to stay in a room at the heavy construction odor (dense smell made my astma worst). They changed our room next day, but at this room, we had to stand noisy of the construction activity goes on upper stage when it begins at 8 o clock every day. On monday we passed breakfast, because breakfast times are different weekend and week. It finishes one hour earlier than weekend. They did nor warn us about it, but of course we would read it on some documents. So we are have also responsibility for this inconvinience. But they are drecting you to the bar as a solution and serve you a simple, but good breakfast.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Disappointing service"

24th December 2012, Fatehunter, Singapore, Singapore

Travelled with family and booked 2 rooms 1 month in advance pre-paid, with a request for connecting rooms. Called also to confirm our request was recorded. However, at check-in, connecting rooms was not available. Checked again the next 2 days and still they cannot let us have connecting rooms which was frustrating. One time, I was told room is available but not cleaned as cleaners have left. It was 5pm. Not acceptable for a big chain.Another service let down was for breakfast. We went to their restaurant for breakfast, and when the waitress saw that we were with kids, they directed us upstairs. We went as told, and when we were there, the waitress there told us it is full, even if we wanted to wait, and told us we can buy some coffee and croissant at the bar downstairs! It is ridiculous! In my years of traveling, this is the first time I have experienced a hotel (whether budget or 6 star) not being able to accommodate its guests for breakfast! Having just stayed at Ibis London 2 weeks ago with excellent service, this hotel is in stark contrast.I really felt reservations did nothing to accommodate my request despite my early booking, and breakfast staff did not emphatise with my family's need for a good breakfast to start the day's touring. Location though, next to Gare de Lyon station is excellent. Room is sufficient, and with the sofa bed can actually sleep 2 adults and 2 kids. Our sleep quality was affected as our room is just outside the lifts, and there is also a shoe polisher right outside our room. We got wakened up with banging on the wall outside one morning, and when I opened the door, it was a man using the shoe machine and kicking his shoe against the wall while polishing it. This seems to be a family friendly hotel, lots of kids running about, and even a play room with Xbox which is good. But if you are on business or need some peace, this hotel is best avoided.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Would book again"

7th December 2012, doom-o-matic

Had "chambres communicate" (two connected rooms) for the kids. Very helpful and friendly staff. Everything was clean, decent pool, play area. Minibar was included in the room. For those who need it, they speak English as well.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Trip to Paris"

18th November 2012, IanL791, Cardiff, United Kingdom

Great hotel for 2 night stay in Paris with kids. The little pool was well used though a touch cold and the play area with a few computer games was a nice bonus. Good connections all over Paris from the station next door and plenty of Restaurants nearby.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 5.0 out of 5 stars "brilliant hotel in Paris!"

15th November 2012, stirlingscotland_12, London, United Kingdom

This is a terrific hotel in the centre of Paris. The staff were so, so helpful and the location is excellent for the main railways and for the metro. Highly recommended as it was clean, modern, friendly and provided more than expected.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Stay in Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon"

11th August 2012, DennyHsinchu, Hsinchu, Taiwan

Execellent location. Very lose to train station, metro station and the Air France bus stop. Easy to acess to the major sightseeing places by RER or Metro. Breakfast was excellent which was much better than our expectation for Europen hotel. Room was small for my family with 4 persons. Slow response for the request of extra blanket. Terrible WiFi.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Our stay at the Novotel - Rue Hector Merlot"

9th August 2012, ringer207, Melbourne, Australia

The location was only okay, as a family with young children it was not a particular family friendly area. The bathroom and toilet floors were not clean it was as though they had a quick going over but nothing thorough. We have never slept in such a stuffy room. The staff were friendly and helpful and if we ever get the chance to go to Paris again we would definitely not stay here again.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Fantastic hotel in Paris"

23rd July 2012, Bath, United Kingdom

I recommend this hotel! We arrived very weary and were initially told our room wouldn't be ready until 2pm, not 12 noon as previously informed. However, they made it a priority to get our room ready by 12, and indeed did so. They also upgraded us to a superior room (not sure why) which was fabulous, and this included a free minibar as well as a coffee maker. There was a swish glass wall between the bedroom and the bathroom which, at the the touch of a button, became opaque to ensure privacy. Really cool, but not a lot of point to it. The location of this hotel is very good as it is just opposite the Gare de Lyon and metro, also easy walking distance to Notre Dame and the left bank. Lots of restaurants nearby as well as two small supermarkets.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 4.0 out of 5 stars "first night in Paris"

21st July 2012, RobbosMaroochydore, Maroochydore

We found the Novotel to be very good value for a family stay. The room was not large with divan folded out but we were comfortable. The divan was made of separate beds so the children were very comfortable. All beds were very comfortable. the location close to train station meant travel to Venice was very easy. The buffet breakfast was excellent and there are plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area. We tended to walk to Cite from hear but the metro is easily assessable. we spent another 2 days closer to the cite at the end of our journey but missed the quality of the Novotel-good value in comparison.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Value hotel in downtown Paris"

3rd July 2012, Torino, Italy

Conveniently located, in the far from beautiful area around the railway station. Standard Novotel treatment: efficient front desk, fast check-in / check-out procedure, rather spacious room (according to European standards) and clean bathroom. Excellent bed. Breakfast was OK, although not memorable.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Staying By Gare de Lyon"

7th June 2012, DavidMcC_888, Sydney, Australia

Novotel was great value, a decent sized room, good room service (we'd spent a week eating out all night in the Loire) and efficient check in/out. Area is a bit dodgy as is around all stations worldwide but manageable.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 3.0 out of 5 stars "TGV Convenience"

28th May 2012, jamesTunni, Cape Town Central, South Africa

This Hotel is very convenient to the Gare De Lyon, but thus is situated in one of the less attractive parts of Paris. The upgrade to an executive room for 15 Euros was well worthwhile.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Aussie Family"

10th April 2012, Singapore, Singapore

Central heating keeps the room too warm otherwise a very good hotel catering well or children. Good location next door to Gare de Lyon train station and Metro.

Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Nice place"

17th February 2012, Elanor5

Great location and nice rooms, good breakfast buffet if a little bit expensive. Staff friendly but not always really effective.Pool, gym, free wifi, bar and restaurant in the hotel. Gare de Lyon at 2-3 minutes.
