Hi, I was in Lisieux for business and stayed in the Mercure hotel. The staff are friendly and the rooms were nice. The breakfast is also ok. But I have some problems with the dinner. It seems to me that it was not fresh. I ordered Duck and after 5 min my dish was ready. I believe that this dish was warmed up by a micro wave oven.

I stayed 3 nights with my family at the Hotel Mercure Lisieux (wife and two children) and we liked the hotel very much. The room was very large and comfortable, with good wifi and excellent breakfast. The only problem was the refrigerator which was not working. The hotel, however, is not located in the city center. It is located around 2 km from dowtown. But we really liked it.

We stayed at this hotel for one night on the way home from the south west of France and we were very disappointed with the state of the hotel. The shower in one of the rooms did not work properly and we had to move rooms. The toilets were brown from the hard water, the windows were filthy and the whole place needs to be totally refurbished. It was not cheap to stay at the hotel and did not compare to a similar priced boutique hotel we stayed at which was the same price. On a positive note, the staff were excellent and did their best to deal with our problems and were extremely helpful. The food we ate in the restaurant was very nice and the service was very good.
Booked a family room for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 baby for a 1 night stop over. Arrived at 11pm with 2 sleeping infants. On entering our room I discovered there was no cot for the baby and no bed for the child. Back at reception I was asked to wait one moment while they sorted it out. There followed a 20 minute wait, with the children sleeping on a sofa in the bar, while the staff ran around looking for a cot. Entered the room a second time to find a travel cot, un-built and thrown onto the middle of the floor with no bedding, and still no bed made up for the child. Returned to reception again to complain this time to be told to make the cot myself and pull down the sofa bed myself. I expressed my dissatisfaction and asked them to make up the room. At this point the receptionists huffed and complained and reluctantly followed me to the room. She crashed about (totally ignoring the sleeping children in the double bed) eventually saying she did not know how to build the cot. She moved onto the sofa bed which she only opened with a huge struggle, then told me to put the sofa bed with the child! I asked for pillows for the children and again she huffed and told me to share the ones on the double bed, only reluctantly fetching more when I refused. As it turned out, I slept in the double bed with the children while my husband spent a very uncomfortable night on the sofa bed with every spring poking through the mattress. there were no towels for the children and there were pubic hairs all over the bathroom floor and the shower was hopeless. All in all I feel a rating of 'terrible' is perfectly justified. if you need a family room for 4 people, book into Novotel!
The main drawback of this hotel, is the absence of air conditioning in the guest rooms. In a hot summer, the heat can be quite oppressive, and the resulting discomfort can make it difficult to sleep at night. However, this problem does seem to be reflected in the price. If you stay in this hotel, and you use the restaurant, be sure to make a reservation. Even if tables are available, the restaurant staff here, appear to be thrown into disarray by an extra client who has not made a reservation, and you might have to wait longer to get served.
