Mercure Auckland: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Hotel is sagging!"

18th May 2012, Cagey261, Tauranga, New Zealand

Hotel is really showing its age. The standard of service has dropped. I had to wait 15 minutes past my pick-up time for my car. The menu for dinner was written using exotic words but the food did not match the menu. Breakfast, however, was great!

Management responseThank you for taking time to write us a feedback,I apologise for the delay in retrieving your car. We recently had many new staff starting at front office, but this should have been followed up as per standard procedure. I will definitely follow this up with the manager in charge of the department. In regards to the dinner, I’m sorry to hear the food was disappointing at the restaurant, this feedback has been passed on to the team at Vue to look into this matter.Hope you had a great weekend. Thank you,Regards,Edward JuddGeneral Manager

Mercure Auckland: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Good Experience"

16th May 2012, cdscons, brisbane queensland

Stayed 2 nights before and after trip to Bay of Islands. Hotel undergoing some renovations which are necessary. Rooms dated, but clean. Staff very friendly and helpful.Restaurant upstairs very good, although my steak was overcooked, compensated for by a complimentary glass of wine. Accor Club membership makes this very affordable and excellent value. Great location near harbour and close to centre of city, lots of coffee shops and restaurants around, easy access to North and South highway.

Mercure Auckland: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Average hotel"

15th May 2012, disgruntled777, Wellington, New Zealand

Travelled for business, booked online as Accor had a special pricing, I expect 2 things from a hotel:1) Good nights sleep- The noisiest air conditioning unit I have ever heard, means I had to buy ear plugs to try to sleep. 2) Good service from staff.-Rang up reception one morning and asked for car to be bought up (told it will take 20mins). Went to reception 20 minutes later to find the car had not been retrieved and had to wait a further 15mins until it was bought up - then I was made to feel like it was my fault..... late for my meeting ;-(-Check out time - found that someone else had charged a meal and 3 drinks against my room number, had to explain to the check out person 3 times that it was not me and they had made a mistake - kept insisting it was my colleague (was travelling on my own).

Mercure Auckland: 2.0 out of 5 stars "noisy at night"

Hotel location was good to go anywhere with ferry , bus or train.I hared loudly music and screaming on the street even if it's mid night or early morning.Awful location about this things

Mercure Auckland: 4.0 out of 5 stars "My Thoughts"

11th May 2012, jess_sabel, Christchurch, New Zealand

Hello,We had a fantastic stay a Mecure Hotel in Auckland CBD. The only thing i would suggest is a few changes to the movie hire. When you hire a movie via the TV it currently stops the movie as soon as you change the channel and you are unable to go back and continue watching the movie. You should be able to chop and change channels as much as you want without losing your purchased movie.Otherwise, keep up the fantastic work! We will definately be coming back!

Mercure Auckland: 4.0 out of 5 stars "comments"

8th May 2012, jericho35, auckland

hi, we dined in the restaurant on the top floor, we had ,sitting one table away 2 very young couples whom i doubt were drinking age, they had had far to much to drink when they arrived and the waiting staff kept serving them more, they were very loud and brash, this caused our party and a few others to leave,we did point it out to the staff that they were anoying others but no notice was taken, i must point out to you the law as regards serving intoxicated people and its consequences, thanks, Owen F.

Mercure Auckland: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Fun as a Tourist"

4th May 2012, monowai_12, Auckland, New Zealand

We live in Auckland but wanted to take time out and be a tourist in our own city. It was superb we discovered all sorts of little places and attractions we would never have thought existed and the Hotel was in the best possible position. The staff at the Mercure were very friendly and willing to help and advise. The Hotel was clan and warm and the views superb. We are now looking forward to doing it all again next year

Mercure Auckland: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Catering for the aging population"

1st May 2012, miniwagon, Melbourne, Australia

Fantastic location. Very good restaurant, nice booths views. Dined twice in four days. Rooms need complete refurb especially bathrooms, must have walk-in shower for safety issues. No new built has shower over bath these days.Staff generally excellent. Like all other hotels credit card fee should be absorbed by hotel. Imagine if all guests, after a multi day stay were to pay by cash and creating a cash handling nightmare for hotel management.

Mercure Auckland: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Comfortable but bedrooms/bathrooms could do with updating"

30th April 2012, Directornz, Paraparaumu, New Zealand

Comfortable and well situated to CBD. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy but felt a little tired and dated.

Mercure Auckland: 3.0 out of 5 stars "3rd time in Auckland Mercure custom st"

29th April 2012, Miffy2009, East Gosford, Australia

Good location, staff ok. Felt cheated paying $40 for valet parking when car stayed in alleyway overnight.

Mercure Auckland: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Close to city"

27th April 2012, RochelleBenJess, Kaitaia

We like staying here when we have a show to attend at the Vector Arena. It is in the centre of town, and has a McD's underneath to keep the kids happy.

Mercure Auckland: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Nice one"

Enjoyed our stay again. This time treated to a Harbour view room.In room Tip: check that the alarm is turned Off !! Something housekeeping should be doing.Dining tip: Vue restaurant has nice food & great views. Even the Bar. Breakfast great & seing kids under 15 are free a real bonus. Will return.

Mercure Auckland: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great location & value"

26th April 2012, KarenJ1957, Hastings, New Zealand

Mecure in Auckland was a great place to stay with the location in the city at the bottom of Queen Street. We went for many walks along the viaduct and could walk easily to the Vecter Arena for a show. The reception staff were great as were the staff in the fabulous Vue restaurant and bar. The restaurant was on the top floor and had an amazing view of the city and harbour, it was warm and welcoming and a great menu for both the bar and restaurant. The room was more than adequate but does need a makeover which apparently is soon to happen. Would definately stay again.

Mercure Auckland: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Position of hotel excellent"

Mercure Auckland: 1.0 out of 5 stars "Bed bugs"

24th April 2012, janmlr, London, United Kingdom

We were badly bitten at night in bed, and still have marks 6 weeks later. As we are now overseas, we would not recommend this hotel to anybody. Was it BED_BUGS ?

Mercure Auckland: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good value hotel"

24th April 2012, Cressida_7, Palmerston North, New Zealand

This hotel is in a great position for visiting downtown Auckland. Britomart is just around the corner and the ferry wharf is very close by. The Vector Arena is within very easy walking distance.Service at the hotel was excellent. The meals were very good and the restaurant offered a great view of the harbour.

Mercure Auckland: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Beware! they could be giving out your personal details"

22nd April 2012

Upon arrival and registration (prebooked and paid for), the registration form had the details on it of another person (name, address, ph no, email address). The only thing the same on the registration form was my first name. I was told just to cross out the incorrect details and write the correct details in and sign. Upon leaving and settling my account, I was again given on my receipt, the details of the person who was on the registration form before I corrected it. When I asked for a receipt in my name the receptionist appeared surprised and questioned why I needed this. I thought it was futher insulting that she then labelled the luggage we asked them to hold with the name that I had corrected twice already. The only reason I gave the hotel a 3 for service is because the housekeeping staff were great when I asked for extra teabags and towels, it was never a problem interupting them whilst they were servicing the rooms. The location was good for a city holiday and it is worth paying extra for an upgrade of room type.

Mercure Auckland: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Happy customer"

20th April 2012, grdeng, Auckland, New Zealand

Hotel is fairly old,but in pretty good shape although the elevetors seem to have a mind of their own sometimes..!!...but the room was comfortable, clean, quiet and everything worked, all the staff were very polite and friendly.Dinner was excellent, although as the restaurant was not that busy we were suprised to find the special of the day could not be served, but the only complaint was the low temperature in the restaurant in the evening.Would stay again or return for a meal (with a warmer coat)

Mercure Auckland: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Customs Street"

20th April 2012, CarolCee, Bundaberg, Australia

The reception desk was woefully undermanned - we waited half an hour for our bags, even though we had a small baby with us and had told them we were trying to change for a wedding. I offered to take the trolley up myself, but was not allowed to and the car parking charge was exorbitant. Also a long wait for a meal in the restaurant, and a lack of accompanying vegetables. The lifts often constituted a trip hazard - stopping not quite level with the floor.Several small niggly points with the rooms: It's a pity that they feel the need to hard wire lamps and radios in to the wall by the bed. This meant there was no power point available for a CPAP machine, essential for a sleep apnoea sufferer (though they were fairly quick to find me an extension cord to use). The light over the mirror was abysmal, the shower water temperature fluctuated constantly, and the magnetic keys stopped working several timesMost staff friendly and helpful

Mercure Auckland: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Handy to Britomart"

20th April 2012, wharetaare, Thames, New Zealand

A good hotel to stay if travelling by train. Comfortable and relies on customers for quietness. (We had a teenage netball team on our floor that were practising until 1.00am)Hotel is a bit tired (like we were the next day). and needs a bit of a spruce up but we have stayed before and we will stay again.

Mercure Auckland: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Rooms & Dinner"

19th April 2012, Hamilton

THe staff were excellent everywhere in the hotel. The rooms we had were disappointing, although the view of the harbour was great. We felt it was time the rooms were spruced up. Very tired looking. We had dinner in the Vue restaurant and even though it was beautifully presented and the staff were wonderful we all felt the meal lacked flavour. We had lunch at the Sofitel the next day and it was awesome.

Mercure Auckland: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Nice place, great location"

19th April 2012, DocMN, Wellington, New Zealand

Only problem was noisy party people in the streets after 1:00am. Loved the location near ferries and Viaduct Harbor

Mercure Auckland: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Impressed"

17th April 2012, New Plymouth, New Zealand

Although I had upgraded my booking to a "Superior 2 Double Bed" room, upon arrival, my husband and I were further upgraded to a suite. Wow, we were over the moon. Definately heading back there next week if necessary.
