"Our experience"
23rd May 2012, Neatsb
While we found this hotel to be in a good location, the floor we were on was very shabby, and our room also.
"Mercure Budapest"
17th May 2012, mocove, Walferdange, Luxembourg
Budapest is a very affordable city and staying at the Mercure was a treat. The resteraunt was wonderful; we ate there every night. The air conditioning in the room was not adequate and it was in the 80's during our trip. The wifi was free and the signal was strong.
"GREAT HOTEL IN A WONDERFUL TOWN"
31st March 2012, Zwijndrecht, Belgium
Carpet in common areas such as restaurant may be refurbished. The hotel location is very convenient next to a major metro station and a tramway stop almost within 100 metres. Good view on the castle district.

Management responseDear Valued Guest,Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at Hotel Mercure Budapest Buda. We greatly appreciate your comments regarding our location. We consider ourselves to be fortunate as the fundamentals of the hotel are particularly good. One of the main railway stations as well as the nearest metro stop is only 100 metres from the hotel, and if you want to get to the castle district area which is part of the World Heritage Sites you needn't have to walk more than 10 minutes. I was pleased to see you generally enjoyed your stay with us. Our goal is to provide a totally satisfying experience to each and every person who visits our property. Thank you again for taking the time to post all of your thoughts and I do hope we get to cater to your needs again in the future.Kind Regards,A.Nagy

"Mercure Buda Hotel"
14th March 2012, darlington
I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past and will continue to use it in the future. Location is convenient for Metro No 2. The staff are very helpful and polite. Rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. Overall the hotel offers very good value for money for a 4* hotel in Budapest.

"Super hotel in super city"
3rd February 2012, Vilnius
It was my first visit to Budapest, City is fantastic, night view from Pest to Gellert, Parlament and Castle - unbelieveable. My overnight stay in Mercure was so perfect - clean room, comfortable bed, free bottle of water, tea, coffee, teapot. Location is great for travellers who came with railway as it just 3 min walk from station. Supermarket on the back of hotel, beautiful park in front. Highly reccomend this hotel.

"for business only"
14th January 2012, Los Angeles, California, USA
Over all not a bad place for the value if you are just on business. Not the best location if for leisure. If they offered breakfast at these room prices it would be much better. Rooms were clean and Bathrooms had shower only. Very close to trolly and train station so there is some street noise at night.

Management responseDear Valued Guest,Thank you for sharing your experience with us! I greatly appreciate your feedback on the value for price paid as well as the compliment on the cleanliness of your room. In my opinion we are a reasonably priced hotel offering good value and services, and apart of our excellent location - to visit the historical Castle District you needn’t to walk more than 10 minutes - this is the major reason why most travellers put their votes to us. Our rooms are equipped for our clients wishes and supplied with all the modern conveniences. A quick note on the bathrooms... we have rooms with bathtub. Regarding the noise coming from the streets we can not keep it away completely as we are a city hotel, but the air is all day fresh, and the wiev from the windows to the Buda Hills is simply wonderful. Many thanks once again for your comments and for the positive nature of your review. I do hope we get to cater to your needs again in the not too distant future. "Avoid the pre-authorisation of your credit card"
7th January 2012, London
I decided to stay at this hotel as a group of friends had already booked rooms there for the New Year festivities. The deal on the website for a three night stay was very good for a hotel of this standard. The hotel is less than five minutes walk from Budapest Deli station, but would benefit from some signage as it was difficult to work out which way to go when I reached the surface from the Metro line.Checking in was painful as the receptionist was far more interested in acting as a tour guide that checking people in. Eventually a second receptionist appeared and the check in process was fairly quick. At check in, I was asked for my credit card to pre-authorise any expenditure put down to my room. As I was going to eat there on New Years Eve, I agreed to this. I had a similar experience at Mercure Bratislava, which worked very well. When I came to check out, I asked for the cancellation slip for my pre-authorisation and was told that they had to inform their bank to cancel it and could not do it then as the bank wasn't open. I had no option other than to accept this and will be emailing the hotel for them to confirm that the pre-authorisation has actually been cancelled. This is totally unacceptable and brings discredit to the Mercure brand. A system must be set up allowing for these pre-authorisations to be cancelled at the time of checking out. If this is not possible, they should stop doing this. The staff varied from the very polite to the downright objectionable. One member of staff accused a friend of having had too much to drink when he complained about a WiFi fault. He was stone cold sober at the time. The room was very good, apart from the toliet seat that broke. In view of the problems with checking in, the inability to cancel a pre-authorisation and the rudeness of the staff to a friend, I am unable to recommend this hotel. Spend a little more and stay at a hotel that understands customer service

"Review"
8th October 2011, Stockholm, Sweden
It was not possible to lock the safe, even after contacting the reception. Obviously, they believed that I could not handle it. If this was the case, I would have expected some assistance. But I am convinced that it did not work, because I followed the instructions on the safe. The climate in my room was not good = too warm. It was not possible to get cold air from the ventilation system. The explanation I got was that the cooling system is switched of when the outside temperature is below 15 C. The outside temperature during daytime was 28 C, and I don´t think it was as low as 15 C during nighttime.

Management responseDear Tripadvisor Member...Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on Trip Advisor. I appreciate your comments regarding prices, however I do also note we are certainly price comparable with other 4 star hotels in the Budapest Market. In my opinion we are a reasonably priced hotel offering good value and services, and apart of our excellent location this is the major reason why most travellers put their votes to us. Our rooms are very comfortable and supplied with all the modern conveniences, not to speak about privilege rooms that can cater anybody's needs (double bed, coffee-tea making facilities, LCD TV, rain shower, special setup in the bathroom, bathrobes, slippers...). Unfortunately the usage of Pay Tv is not complementary in Hotel Mercure Budapest Buda yet, but the user's guide can be found in each room and you just have to follow the on-screen instructions. Regarding the breakfast our restaurant is well supplied with ample cutlery and crockery and as I’m informed most of the guests use them regularly. Again, I thank you for advising of your comments via this online channel and hope that we can one day replace your slightly negative experience with that of a much more favourable one.Best regards,Peter ParaczkyGeneral Manager

"Good business hotel"
3rd September 2011, Warsaw
The quality/price is very good. Location is also not bad in fact. The only problem I see is, unreliable internet connection. When it works, the speed is good, but quite frequently, the internet stops working.

Management responseDear Tripadvisor member,The team at Hotel Mercure Budapest Buda were delighted to accommodate you on your recent stay in Budapest and appreciate the time you have taken to provide us with your valuable comments. We are very proud of our high speed wi-fi internet service wich can be used not only in the public areas of the hotel but in the rooms as well, and from 1. January we offer it our guests on comlimentary basis. Certainly we have doubled the speed of the WIFi since mid September. "Park somewhere else :)"
8th August 2011, Krakow
Price for parking is a bit expensive (16 EUR per night), otherwise excellent hotel. Room is very nice, clean. As an Accor loyalty card holder I got a nice summer deal (stay 3 nights, pay only 2) and premium room. The location is nice, but Budapest is really big, so you have to use public transport to get to sights. You can also walk to the castle, the walk is quite nice.

"Great budget hotel"
29th June 2011, Silver Spring, MD
The restaurant is great. Rooms were large (compared to other European hotels) although not incredibly clean. The floors were gross. The location of the hotel was fantastic. Across the street from a park, walking distance to the castle district and to the metro into Pest. If you can overlook the dirty floors, I'd highly recommend!

Management responseDear Accor traveller from Silver SpringThank you for sharing your comments with us! I'm happy to hear that generally you enjoyed your staying with us. Yes, our hotel has excellent location and we are very proud of it. One of the main railway stations as well as the nearest metro stop is only 100 metres from the hotel, there are a lot of bus and tramstops in the near, and if you want to get to the castle district area which is part of the World Heritage Sites you needn’t have to walk more than 10 minutes through a nice green park. Our rooms are not only large but supplied with all the modern conveniences, have great view to the Buda Hills, but if you insist on luxury while beeing far away from home our privilege rooms definitely will cater your most sophisticated needs ( double bed, coffee-tea making facilities, complimentary water, LCD TV, rain shower, special amenities in the bathroom, bathrobes, slippers, beautifull carpets...). The supliment for this extra comfort really just a small sum, but the experience you receive is unpayable and can make your holiday unforgetable. For further information please, consult Accorhotels.com. Thanks again for your comments. Our team will continue to work on improving the hotel for the enjoyment of future visitors.Best wishes,Peter ParaczkyGeneral Manager
