This is the best hotel in Luxor, as best as I can tell. Great location; relatively quiet for a town which isn't; excellent service; superb treatment for Sofitel regulars. Great access to Luxor Temple and Museum and to shopping, such as it is.View management response »

"Winter Palace while freezing in Europe"

We booked a room with balkon and Nile view. We arrived late at night and received a warm welcome from several people. They were glad we didn't cancel our stay because of "troubles" in Egypt and so are we: They gave us the "Royal suite" and we really enjoyed it. Perfect service and clean rooms, excellent beds and veiw all over the Nile.Special thanks to Ahmed the butler, who was tehre all te time and helped us with erverything (don't loose your time with bargaining with the local people for organising felouka trips, or other things, it is much easier if the hotel organises it and in the end even less expensive) We had breakfast and dinner and were completely satisfied with the excellent food. We can recommend the "Beausoleil" local wine of Egypt.The garden of the Winter Palace is amazing and an oasis of silence. Excellent heated pool.You can choose for a room on the backside because there is more sun , but that is only because it is a little chilly in the morning in january , on the other hand the Nile view is fantastic.Special thanks to Mr Ruge, the hotel manager, he is checking everything every day and personally seeks contact with the guest to make everything confortable for them.View management response »

Excellent Reception, private seating rapid check in.Impecable service throughout our stay. Celebrated Nicola's bithday whilst staying.Meal in 1886 resaurant a must.Used the hotel for all our tours, could have probably arranged cheaper ourselves, but time saved using the hotel services far out weighed the time it costs arranging independent seperate. I did that last year so I can back up with facts.The only possible downside could be when the hotel and annex is full, the hotel was practically empty during our stay, I think the pool area would be inadequate for full occupancy.Location ideal.Excellent Tours by Yahia Abdou Ahmed, ask for this man and you will not be dissappointed.
