Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Newspapers and wifi"

18th May 2012, faytran, Torquay, Australia

We asked for a Newspaper on Sunday morning but did not receive it. Free wifi would be nice. Saturday night is very noisy even with the windows closed.

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 4.0 out of 5 stars "our stay"

nice and our room had a magic view but leave your car at home;$25 overnight for guests is out,the Baygarden restuarants buffet is highly recommended for dinner

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 5.0 out of 5 stars "One of the best"

10th May 2012, Wagga Wagga

Our stay at this hotel was most enjoyable. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. We were upgraded to an ocean view room without even asking for this. The room was very large and the bed was comfortable, everything was clean. The food was lovely and plenty of it. We were quite impressed with the location in relation to everything that we wanted to do. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to all travellers.

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 2.0 out of 5 stars "This was once a great hotel"

9th May 2012, rossalyn46, Sydney, Australia

At $ 309 in Sydney B&B this hotel does not represent good value for money. The hotel did not tell us it was being renovated. The rooms however still have the furnishings from 20 years ago. There were people smoking in the breakfast area....."the waiters response "they are not from around here"WIFI was charged at $25 per night. All in all from a great hotel in the past we will stay elsewhere next time

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good Stay"

4th May 2012, hwo144, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia

Good location and friendly service. Except for some renovations in the room above during the day it was OK.AC control was old and didn't work so well. cold or cold.

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Was great in the 80's"

30th April 2012, AnthP_03, Frankfurt, Germany

I recently stayed at the novotel at Brighton Beach after previously having hosted 2 conferences there in the early 90's, and I was very disapointed. The property needs a makeover and a good clean. The carpet in the corridors smelt like mould each time we stepped out of the elevator on our floor. The service was mixed from extreemly helpful as were the 2 young ladies in the breakfast area doing the cleaning up. To the other extreme when I asked an older lady with her hair in a bun for a set of cuttlery as there was non on our table , her reply.... "steal a set form another table".... To her credit the supervisor in charge was trying to hlep out as much as possible, to keep the staff motivated and working byt there was a big busload of visitors and obviously some reacted differently to others. We had the choice of staying in the city at a 5 star hotel for the same money as Brighton, and we choose Brighton as it was closer to our work and we were looking forward to the views of the bay. Well we enjoyed the views but after paying high prices for what is barely above a Motel standard I will not be visiting there again.

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Weekend leave"

28th April 2012, Rathmines2267, Wangi Wangi, Australia

Friendly professionally service received at all times. Our rooms were upgraded with a magnificent view. The weather was great and looking over the beach and watching the planes come in made it all the more interesting.

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great View"

27th April 2012, Dan_and_Jan_2012, Sydney, Australia

We stay here every year for our anniversary. Since we began in 1992 the service has always been great. However the hotel is starting to date and get a bit run down. The carpet beside the bed was soaked and we had to crawl onto the bed from one side. The TV reception was very poor on some chanels and the remote did not work. After saying that we asked for a new remote and recieved it immediately. One of the lights was out in the bathroom. A few little things wrong but we had a wonderful night with great views and a very peaceful sleep in a very clean and tidy hotel. I would recommend this hotel to any traveller. After twenty years we will still be going back.

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Stay at Brighton Beach"

26th April 2012, Sydney

Stayed at the Novotel Brighton Beach for a wedding nearby. Carparking was conveniently located. Staff on arrival were very friendly and welcoming and found the whole check-in experience efficient and prompt. I would not speak highly of the room I stayed in, It was spacious, clean and modern. From the balcony I had a great view of the beach and a clear view of Sydney's famous skyline. The spa in the bathroom was an added bonus. Concierge was very knowledgeable about all the cafes and restaurants near the hotel, and also with direction to get in and out of the area. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Novotel Brighton Beach.

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Perfect until "breakfast""

20th April 2012, randomgirl24, Wollongong

Everything was perfect, as usual, at your property. Last time we stayed, I also upgraded to a ocean view with spa room, and last time we had the huge spa and small balcony. This time we had the huge terrace and a very small bath spa which we didnt use because of the size.. Will know for next time but no big deal... Sooooo, then we went down to breakfast which I had built up as being the best breakfast in the city, not any more! We were told the restaurant was going thru renovations but did not expect what we found at the temp site, a disaster. At 9,10am we waited to be seated, then told to sit where we wanted, which was no where because there were no tables that were cleared and wiped. We found a table which was cleared but not wiped so then made our way to the temp buffet only to find other patrons walking around lost as there were no plates, no cutlery, no hot food in the servery, and food on the floors and counters. The fruit & yoghurt section on the other side was disgustingly presented. My partner asked a staff member where is the hot food, and he came back to say it was being prepared now. I know your hotel puts on an amazing breakfast and I was shocked and we reluctantly then asked for our breakfast docket to be reversed and we were leaving to eat downstairs somewhere. He assured us this would be taken care of, it wasnt by the way, the breakfast charge was put on my bill and I had to deal with that upon checkout, not good to follow through on that. We ate at Gecko Cafe, it was very enjoyable after what had happened. I am a loyal Accor Adv Plus Member so always enjoy my 2 for 1 eating benefits at your properties and had used my complimentary night for our stay.. Your hotel let me down and I need you to know this, I would not recommend your hotel until yr restaurant is back operational, as no restaurant would be better than the bad experience you are offering at the moment. Please take this feedback on board as you may not hear from the many other disappointed patrons that morning. (Michelle Horton 0414 640 470 - Room 1115)

Nice hotel however the noise is terrible. I heard drums most of the night. Which was a real shame. Breakfast was fantastic room so clean well done. The view awesome. Would I stay again yes however not facing the busy street with the drums

12th April 2012, Sydney, Australia

Lovely place to go with kids, professional and helpful staff, great location near the bay, great view from the window, tasty breakfast. The only dissapointment was remove playground and indoor swimming pool is from 18yo so kids missed on a bit of fun.

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good stay - Restaurants are a bit understaffed."

12th April 2012, Canberra, Australia

Great place to wind back - only comment I'd like to make is that the Breakfast and Dinner services weren't that great - more in the dinner part, where we felt the staff was not adequate as it was busy and the food took a long time to come, moreover, we had to let staff know when we were finished else we would have to be waiting a long while. Overall though, we were happy with the hotel.

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 1.0 out of 5 stars "not pleased"

11th April 2012, Sydney, Australia

me and my boyfriend stayed in your hotel room 1212 there were spiders and cockroaches everywhere we litereally saw at least 20 spiders just crawling on the roof and couldnt sit on the balcony due to all the webs it was rediculous!, we called downstairs to be hung up on 4 times and spoken to like we were worthless and unimportant .it was hard enough to get to sleep because of the spiders above us but someone in one of the rooms near us was being unnecessarily loud playing there music and talking loud enough to make our room feel like it was vibrating. the location was wonderful and i have stayed there before but never have i experienced this kind of accommodation at a hotel and i am extremely unpleased that my money was wasted as i had such a traumatizing and disappointing stay. we were forced to spend most our time outside of the room.

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Another nice stay after a change of room..."

11th April 2012, ShazAlOz, Sunny Coast, Queensland

We love this Novotel's location, but due to the mould/dampness smell it does seriously need an upgrade.... This is the second time we have had a problem but thankfully we were moved from our room & upgraded to a family room. The family room was very spacious (& did not smell like the dbl room we booked) and will definately look at booking this room type in the future.Breakfast again was fantastic except for one morning over Easter when staff were limited & service/food was poor.Other than the above problems, overall we enjoyed our stay & love the location of this property.

Management responseDear GuestThank you for taking the time to record your impressions. We were pleased to read that the family room better suited your requirements. Although you found our breakfast fantastic we take on board your impression of the staffing levels. We will be looking for improvement in this area & hope that you will notice a change when next you stay with us.RegardsAlan BurrowsGeneral Manager

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Novotel sydney Brighton Beach"

2nd April 2012, JoanAct, ACT

Generally satisfactory stay except for lighting in room. No light in ceiling and one of bedside lights not working. Prompt response from service staff, but light could not be fixed/changed as it was inset in bedside table. Immediately offered change of room, but as already unpacked for one night stay, did not accept offer. Floor lamp moved.

I have stayed here many times over the years, we upgraded our room and it was acceptable but very tired. The place needs a coat of paint and the ninth floor needs to be dried out and treated for odor, it really stinks! The room service is ok, but not great value. We will not be hurrying back
