ibis Porto Norte: 3.0 out of 5 stars "OK hotel but poor food"

9th July 2012, Dublin, Ireland

I stayed in this hotel with my wife and son (and our two dogs) in June 2012. I used a Satnav to find the hotel and got completely lost. The GPS co-ordinates on the website were completely wrong. I could not find the address via satnav, as it was so similar to other addresses. The food in the hotel was very basic (only a very small range of frozen pizzas, burgers etc.). These very basic items were not cheap. The only other food option was an adjacent restaurant, but this only served cold sandwiches and some rice-style dishes. Breakfast was also very basic in the hotel - no hot items at all.The standard of rooms in the hotel was fine - good clean rooms, with plenty of space. Good basic standard at a cheap price. My main advice is get good directions and eat somewhere else!

ibis Porto Norte: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Standard Ibis hotel, but very poor road access"

16th February 2012, melrand, france

We have stayed in many Ibis hotels over the years, and this one was of similar standard, suitable for our one night stopover. However, the location and road access were extremely poor. The only route is via a toll road, which is currently under major construction. To add to this problem the signage to the hotel was non existent and the satnav takes you to a completely different location! The nearest restaurant was in Maia which meant returning to the toll road and having to pay again. So despite the very reasonable room rate, this was offset by the cost of the tolls.
