Mercure Hotel Hannover Medical Park: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Frequent stays because of location"

I stay at the Mercure Hannover Medical Park every month as a student at the medical school. The location is convenient and that is my primary reason for choosing this hotel. Pros-the staff is very attentive for the most part. Sometimes you have to wander around to get a person to help serve at the bar. The hotel is very clean and the lobby well lit and cheery. Cons-the rooms are about average for Germany but all amentities are quite expensive. The restaurant is extremely expensive (for instance, breakfast is 16 euros for scrambled eggs and toast, dinner is always at least 30 euros). In my most recent visit I had a service person walk into my room to place soaps and he didn't knock. I happened to have just stepped out of the shower and fortunately I had a towel on. The door was locked and the switch turned to lock. There is no way to actually lock someone out that has a room key which is a security hazard and obviously they should knock first which he didn't. Hallways are loud and for some reason they put the upgraded "prestige" rooms next to the elevator--the loudest place on every floor. Overall this hotel is the better choice between the sister hotel Ibis next door and there are no other hotels within walking distance of the hospital/school so it is my choice between the two. But I would not say it is a great hotel by my standards in terms of cost for value or by "American" hotel standards. Its about as nice as a Courtyard but 50% more expensive to stay.

I decided for the business package that included internet and breakfast. Quite good value for the money. The hotel is clean and confortable. Unfortunately the air conditioning in my room was not working what made sleeping a torture section.
