Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The entire overnight stay was severely marred by there being NO air-conditioning. We hardly slept at all in nearly 30 degrees of heat and humidity - some other guests had propped their windows open with plastic water bottles etc. In a modern hotel of Mercure status A/C is surely expected! Hotel was about half a mile from centre of Fontainebleau which was fine. The town itself though had become a drab and tired place from our remembrances of three or four years ago. Very disappointing overnight stay.
"Good for one-two night stay"

The hotel is good for one-two night stay for business or tourism. Conveniently located next to INSEAD and walking distance (1.5 km) to the center and castle. Bus stop to the train station nearby (plan 30-40 mintues) and shuttle service available at INSEAD.
"rooms a bit worn out"

the service at the hotel is excellent. staff are friendly and helpful. my only minor complaint about the hotel is the that the rooms are tired and in need of smartening up. Also the carpets are really old and worn out, thuogh that maybe was just the room i stayed in.
