Room clean and basic. Staff nice. Breakfast is fantastic. Breakfast made the stay. Parking free and very close to front door. Shower is good too. Internet too expensive at EUR 12 per day. Internet should be free, at least for Accor Platinum members which I am.
Stayed for three nights, overall very good. Very friendly staff, felt very welcome and secure. Hotel and room are very clean and tidy. Breakfast excellent, 4****. What could be improved is the material inside the pillow, not sure but felt like polyester.
Dear Guest, thank you for taking time to rate your stay at the Mercure Hotel Kongress Chemnitz. Our pillows are all filled with 100% cotton, so its too bad, that you felt uncomfortable. But the whole team is very happy about your warm words and we hope to welcome you again soon! Best regards Your Mercure team
I stayed there before and was much impressed with the service. This is no longer the case. I got a room upgrade, which turned out to be so small, that one had to squeeze in between the door and the tiny wardrobe. How big would a standard room be ? The room was hot, and when opening the window a bit, the wind was whistling through the door it drove me mad. I only got wifi because I am an Accor Hotels Gold Member. Otherwise you would need to buy a scratch card. I thought all IBIS and Mercure hotels offer free wifi. Last time parking was free (at least for Gold members), now I had to pay. Breakfast was ok, but it used to be nice.
I like the architecture of the Kongress Hotel, it's a huge (modernised) DDR era building over 26 floors right between the old city centre and the new mall bit. There are great views from the high floors and you can see it from anywhere in the city so it's not hard to find. I was on the 18th floor in a privileged room which was a bit dated, though perfectly clean and comfortable. It also had a fridge which was handy and an in room kettle, which is something of a rarity in Germany and for someone from the UK the ability to make a cup of tea was very much appreciated. The staff on reception were efficient enough, and answered any queries. I also found a platter of fruit in my room on the first day which was nice. The gentleman who runs the bar was also very welcoming and friendly. His 'medium' red wine - I never did find out the grape - was also dangerously drinkable. A couple of minor niggles were that you had to specifically ask for Wifi cards, they weren't given as standard and for some strange reason, although there was a large double bed in the room, I was only given a single duvet. Breakfast is served in the Panorama restaurant. Its a reasonable buffet spread and the view from the 26th floor is great. A little tip, if you fancy experiencing first hand what life would be like as the sole survivor after nuclear annihilation, take a walk down the old main street - Bruhl Boulevard!!!
Dear guest, thank you very much for your great feedback. We really appreciate that. According to your feedback you mentioned, that you have stayed in a privilege room. All privilege rooms have a king size bed in it. So it is plus for your comfort zone. You can ask our reception staff (24 hours available) for an additional duvet any time. Somebody will come to your room so you don't have to come downstairs. We aren't happy with the WiFi situation either, but we will pass on your issue to the decision makers. We hope to welcome you again soon and wish you all the best. Your Mercure team
Good location but very small rooms without aircon. Great view if you get room on higher floor. Sauna is ok, if you have a car, parking is just next to main entrance. To sum up, in my personal opinion standard of the hotel should be upgraded - Mercure obliges.
Dear guest, thank you very much for your feedback. Our rooms with the standard category are the only ones which don't have air-conditioning. All other categories have some comforts included like the parking space (if it is available), air-conditioning or minibar. If you have any questions, tips or wishes please let us know. Our reception desk is maned 24 hours a day. In our next modernization topics your advice (upgrade) will be considered. We wish you all the best and we hope to welcome you again. Your Mercure Team
The Mercure is very centrally located with parking directly in front of the hotel. If you have a room on the upper floors you have a view over the whole city. Rooms are clean but basic. Unfortunately the restaurant on the top floor is nolonger open in the evening and you can only eat a limited selection of meals at the bar downstairs. Luckily it is only a short walk to the city centra where there are some decent restaurants to chhose from. Don't miss out on the breakfat. This is in the top floor restaurant and they have a good food selection to go with the view.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights whilst in Germany and found it comfortable and welcoming. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the decor was modern and the bedroom was very nice. We did stay in a junior suite so cannot comment on the standard bedrooms but I would think they are quite small. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chemnitz as it is close to all amenities too.
