"Room with a [carpark] view"
20th May 2012, Dallis_8, Auckland, New Zealand
Our first booking after becoming Accor members. We were disappointed with the room as it was very small, had no bag rack [we had to ask for one] and only one chair. The breakfasts were good as were the meals we had on two evenings. We would recommend the hotel to a friend - but they would need to ensure they got a larger better equipped room. The reception staff were very good tho they could not find the map of local runs from the hotel - these were mentioned in the room brochure.
"Comfortable stay"
18th May 2012, Greyseniors, Sydney, Australia
Good hotel but found a 15cm rip at top of bottom sheet just as we were going to bed the first night. Made sure room attendant could see it the next day so the sheet could be replaced. On going to bed late the 2nd night found the same rip at the bottom of the bed, obviously the sheet had just been turned upside down! Finally was replaced the next day. Otherwise we had a comfortable stay and would return. Had two enjoyable meals at their restaurant.
"Worth the stay and very close to Tram Stop"
18th May 2012, kippa67, Canberra, Australia
We stayed here for three nights in May. The staff are very helpful, especially the Managers and restaurant staff. Beds are very comfortable. Food is awesome and if you can get an Accor Card the benefits discounts in the restaurant are great. 50% off for two dining and 25% off for 3 dining. The only two I had was that I had booked this online including breakfast but when the booking went through for some reason breakfast was not included. The manager waved the fee here. I was also a little disappointed that accor had advertised through there sight that this hotel included parking but arrived to find out that it was $20 a night. The hotel also discounted this for me to $15. Overall though it is a very nice place to stay and lovely and warm when in winter with very happy helpful staff.
"Weekend in St Kilda"
17th May 2012, IanLSpencer, Warrnambool, Australia
We selected Novotel St Kilda as being central to things we wanted to do over the weekend - numerous restaurants within a few hundred metres; Ackland St cake & coffee shops & the Sunday market on the Esplanade.
"Quite disappointing"
15th May 2012, hsukkar, Melbourne, Australia
The room was really poor as a corner room, There was a missing sidetable next to my side of the bed. The ceiling as well as the walls were marked and unclean. It was truly disappointing. We've asked to change the room and we weren't even given that option. We were told by the trainee all rooms at this range look the same so the only option was to upgrade. If you are interested I have photos on my iphone to document the stuff outlined above. I'm happy to email them to whoever is responsible for the evaluation.

"Business Trip"
13th May 2012, King City, California, USA
I have stayed at the Novotel on St Kilda Beach many times over the years and have always found the location, room quality and general service to be of a very high standard.
"Family gathering"
12th May 2012, DianeMc114, Melbourne, Australia
Our stay at the Novotel St Kilda was excellent in every way. The rooms were warm and spotless. The service was friendly. The view across the Bay was magnificent. My only suggestion is that you go to breakfast early to avoid the crowds of conference attendees.
"Weekend escape"
11th May 2012, jamesvron, Wantirna, Australia
Its was a perfect hotel to get away for a weekend break for some fresh air pity the weather wasnt so kind. The room had views of the bay and was clean and tidy with all that we needed. The only complaint would have been the picture on the TV which was not clear and too small a screen. Not that we stayed in and watched TV perfect position to get to all restaurants and shops in the area and to walk along the beach you can also get a tram into the CBD right outside the hotel. The staff were excellant on arrival and when we checked out. thank you.
"Bay Views and Trams"
10th May 2012, BrisRon, Brisbane, Australia
One of our favourites when in Melbourne.Great location overlooking the bay and tram stop to city right out front.Spoiled for choice with restaurants etc in Fitzroy St.And cakes in Acland St.Sunday morning markets along the esplanade.Arranged early check in with "Jessica" as we had an early football game at Etihad Stadium.Could not have been more helpful.

"The upgrade that wasn't..."
10th May 2012, AccorRegular, Melbourne, Australia
Nice enough hotel, well positioned with reasonable facilities. $20 parking charge additional to the room, even at weekend. We've stayed here before and the standard room was spacious and comfortable, but this time I paid $80 for an upgrade to the executive room which really was not worth it. The room was little different, save for a corner spa bath. TV reception very poor, Weak shower, scuff marks on walls and water staining on celing combined to give a rather tired look. I certainly didn't feel like we'd been upgraded. The little things matter sometimes, and this hotel didnt quite deliver. Sorry, but I don't think we will be back.

Management responseSorry to hear you were not completely satisfied with your stay. We provide on site car parking for the convenience of our guests, paticularly on weekends when parking is limitied in the area. Our Executive Rooms are larger, have bay views & a spa, we apologise if the upgrade fee did not represent value for money on this occasion.Thank you for bringing the housekeeping & maintenance issues to our attention, I have passed these on to the management team to follow up. "Holiday"
1st May 2012, canberra
We were looking forward to our stay in St Kilda but our first night was terrible, the temperature outside was 40degrees and the temperature in our room was 29degrees, the airconditioning was not working. We were so hot and could not get cool, had someone up to check it out, but of course nothing could be done, requested a fan and we did get one evetually which helped a little. We also had to ask for the cover on the bed to be changed as it had stains on it. The cleaning of the room was not up to a good standard, there was hair and bits and pieces on the floor. My husband put a glass over a spider in the bathroon and that was never cleared away, we were there for 5 nights. We also has friends in another room and besides the heat problem the fridge in there room did not work, just as well we had a car fidge that we could use. This hotel needs some serious updating
"A tale of two sides!!"
1st May 2012, Perth
This was my second stay at this Novotel. Great location with good access to many parts of the city and the friendly caring staff made for an enjoyable stay. The only blemish was in the restaurant on our first night when the food was slow and not delivered as ordered. It was over cooked and one dish came with salad instead of the vegetables ordered. Restaurant staff tried to rectify the error but the kitchen was too slow to respond. Our room was very clean and well maintained.

"A contradiction"
27th April 2012, terrybowen, Lake Macquarie, Australia
The location is superb and the staff efficient and friendly. The room allocated to us was small and the bathroom setout was inadequate. Mould around bat was unacceptable. During our 4 night stay several conferences were held and morning and afternoon tea was set down in the foyer next to reception, an unsatisfactory arrangement. We felt there was a limited choice of menu and inadequate staff numbers for breakfast leaving some hot foods unstocked. the girl was run off her feet

Management responseThank you for sharing your feedback. We have a couple of meeting rooms off the lobby area & occasionally set up morning tea nearby, we apologise for any confusion or if they were in the way. We have recently introduced an "Old Favourites" menu as well as daily specials to add more variety. Hope you can stay again to try these new items.Breakfast service can some times be challenging when there is a rush of guests dining at the same time, we try to provide adequate staff coverage when we expect to be busy, sorry for any delays experienced on this occasion.Regards.Erkin Aytekin General Manager

"Overnight Trip"
24th April 2012, Sydney, Australia
Rooms are a good size, larger than what you often get by staying in the CBD area. Only an overnight trip but no complaints, room service meal of good quality and everything needed for a business trip on this occasion. Great spot for a morning walk along the water.
"Our stay at Novotel St Kilda"
24th April 2012, beston, Melbourne, Australia
My Husband and I had a wonderful time, the room was fine for an over night stay, it was within easy walking distance to the Palais and eateries. The staff were very helpful even the trainee at the time was great. Thanks

"Tastwo"
21st April 2012, tastwo, Hobart, Australia
This was our third stay at the Novotel St Kilda. The trip was part business and part pleasure. The service is always excellent with nothing a trouble to any of the staff. The location opposite St Kilda beach is a treat and it is only a short tram ride to the CBD and Melbourne's tourist highlights. This was the first time we have taken a Queen room and it was very small and really too cramped for two persons for a five day stay. It would be fine as a single. We ate from the room service menu on four occasions and the food was good quality with large serves. The only criticism is the public areas and rooms are looking a little tired and worn and could do with a revamp. Overall, a really good choice for a Melbourne stay especially if you are planning a trip to or from Tasmania as it is only a short distance to the Spirit of Tasmania ferry dock.
"Great spot"
19th April 2012, BallaratBoris, Ballarat
Staff very helpful, rooms clean and hotel in fantastic spot for beach access and the restuarants of St. Kilda. Across the road from the Palais and Luna Park -great!
"best location"
19th April 2012, Shellharbour, Australia
This hotel is perfectly located. A short stroll to amazing restaurants/cafes, the beach, a great day spa across the road. However, do not stay in a standard room they are tiny, dark and depressing. Instead pay the extra to upgrade to a superior room, it is totally worth the money.I would most certainly recommend & stay here again.
"Novatel StKilda"
19th April 2012, Shoota111264, Mildura, Australia
Good motel, the rooms a bit enclosed and needed something to make them seem more roomier, the service was good and friendly and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in, overall a good motel in a good spot but a bit pricey, thought it was a bit steep that you had to pay for parking considering the room was a bit over priced
"Novotel St Kilda"
19th April 2012, Queenslander538, Southport, Australia
The Hotel is ideally situated on the Esplanade at St Kilda. We were in Melbourne for the Australian Athletics Championships at the new Lakeside Stadium at Albert Park and the hotel was easily accessible by tram. The number and variety of restaurants and cafes nearby makes for dining excellence. I don't like the steps from the street into the foyer. They are narrow and slightly steep.
"Quick weekend"
19th April 2012, Blisster, Canberra, Australia
Quick visit for a wedding, hotel was good, included breakfast was nice, although the pancakes/fruit weren't very fresh at 10am. Overall we had an enjoyable stay, thank you

"Daughters Wedding"
19th April 2012, Magpie53983, Melbourne, Australia
Turning up at the Hotel at about Midnight after a wonderful Wedding and after I had spoken to the Hotel staff the day before about the late arrival I was given my keys and with my wife went up to our room and found my daughter and her new husband in our room who were given our keys and not the keys to the honeymoon suite. Quickly sorted out and we missed out on the champayne and chocolates. Not impressed
