ibis Portsmouth Centre: 4.0 out of 5 stars "IBIS Portsmouth 25 years On."

16th May 2012, peteandcharlotte, Salisbury, United Kingdom

The checking in and out was smooth and effortless. Breakfast was good value for money. The room was clean and functional. I like the fact that IBIS as a brand has an image to me and the hotel in Portsmouth met my expectations.

8th May 2012, mariabuckleyuk, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom

Reception didn't appear to be very freiendly. Good breakfast, friendly service. Room seemed to be small than other Ibis.

ibis Portsmouth Centre: 5.0 out of 5 stars "SMALL BUT BEAUTIFUL"

22nd April 2012, Port Harcourt, Nigeria

Ibis Portsmouth would initially look small from the outside, but as you enter, access the rooms, the dinning and the very friendly bar, you reach the inescapable conclusion that this is a wonderful place to stay. I must add, that, the Staff are dedicated.

ibis Portsmouth Centre: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Ibis Portsmouth"

2nd April 2012, Southampton, United Kingdom

Great location, friendly staff, and clean, although somewhat small, rooms. The biggest let down was that it was fairly noisy in the evenings as a result of its central location . Closing the window did little to alleviate this, and just made the room hot! The noise wasn't helped by being immediately next door to some student halls. Was an okay hotel, but I probably wouldn't stay there again by choice - personally I found the etap a better experience despite not being quite so central.

ibis Portsmouth Centre: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great location and super comfy beds"

21st March 2012, Bennieboy22, France

Great location- a few minutes walk from the Portsmouth & Southsea train station and the city centre of Portsmouth. I didn't eat or drink at the restaurant (although I was hungry) because the whole lobby seemed to be full of Spanish lorry drivers and lads on stag parties. (I arrived alone around 9pm on a Friday night).Room was very clean and there was a keyboard to connect to the TV screen to use if you wanted to pay for internet access (great but expensive, £10 for a few hours if I remember right!)Too tired I slipped under the fresh, clean duvet to one of the most comfortable bed I've slept in for years. (Double bed although I booked a single room). Unfortunately those rowdy stags came home at 5-6am and kept banging on the doors to their rooms...... but would come here again and would recommend anybody staying here.

ibis Portsmouth Centre: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Convenient and central for a short stay"

7th March 2012, London, United Kingdom

Offered exactly what we needed for a short stay - very good value in comparison with all the alternatives. Space in the shower room/wc is absolute minimum as others comment, but wasn't an issue. After booking online for best price I rang and asked for a quiet room at the back. They were very helpful - it was top floor, far end of a corridor, ideal.

ibis Portsmouth Centre: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Iain"

5th March 2012, Stonehouse

You really need to provide softer pillows...the current type in Ibis Hotels are awful and leave the guest (Me!) with a very painful neck and unable to get quality sleep. The bed is also to hard and the quilt is too thin. The bathroom is too small but well fitted and the shower is very good.Milk provided for tea and coffee should not be UHT...Millac Maid is much more pleasant. I have made this recommendation before

ibis Portsmouth Centre: 1.0 out of 5 stars "IBIS Portsmouth"

3rd February 2012, London, United Kingdom

The location of the hotel was convenient to the train station and the restaurants, and when checkin in, the woman at reception was friendly and helpful. Those are the only nice things I can say about my experience there. The room itself was adequate in size, however, the bathroom facility was incredibly small - the shower in particular. I am not a large peson so I was able to fit in there, but I imagine many larger people would struggle. When I got to my room (it is winter), the heat was turned off and the window was open! The biggest complaint is the bed - it was by far the most uncomfortable bed I ever tried to sleep in. I have sat on more comfortable rocks. Subsequently, I had a very poor nights sleep and as a result, would never be able to recommend this hotel to anyone. I am sorry to say this, but this was my experience.

Management responseDear Traveller,Thank you for taking time to share your experience following to recent stay at Ibis Portsmouth Centre.I am sorry to read that your stay did not meet your expectations.I agree that our bathrooms are limited in size. The original idea was to give them ‘cabin look’. All of them were refurbished and redecorated for getting up-dated standard and making them more functional. Moreover you will be pleased to know that we are currently looking in replacing our beds in order to provide great guest experience. The comments regarding the room temperature you raised in your review have been addressed with the housekeeping team to ensure there is no future recurrence. I can only apologise for the disappointment you were subject to and you should not take this as indicative of the level and service that Ibis strives to provide.Thank you once again for your feedback, which is invaluable in our efforts to assess and continually improve upon the quality of our service.Yours sincerely,Veronika RackovaAssistant General Manager

ibis Portsmouth Centre: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Does the job"

17th September 2011, FoodyJavea, Javea

if the rooms were a bit bigger, particularly the shower/loos, and the beds were somewhat softer then this hotel would be fine. As it is sleep was not restful due to the rock hardness of the bed and the toilet was almost impossible to get at, I am over 6 feet in height.

ibis Portsmouth Centre: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Very different to France"

4th September 2011, Nottingham, United Kingdom

Having stayed at several different Ibis Hotels in France over the years my wife and I thought it would be interesting to try out the Ibis in Portsmouth as a comparison.Cleanliness:As with all Ibis, spotlessly clean.Location:We wanted a hotel close to the ferry port as we would be docking at about 5pm on a bank holiday. The map and directions give the impression that the hotel is close by but the one way system means that you have to travel quite a long and complex way. Also the information give the opinion that walking to the newly developed dock area and into Southsea is relatively easy as both are close by. We did not find this to be the case.Rooms:Although very clean and well equipped (the tea and coffee facilities were a welcome surprise), the room was small by comparison to other Ibis we have stayed in. The bathroom, which didn't have a bath, was incredably small as was the shower cubicle and toilet.Service:We had a slight wait at the check in desk but nothing to complain about but we were greeted by the usual smiling "sorry to keep you waitng" said by someone who clearly wasn't and with a smile that was clearly false. We then had to submit our passports which were photcopied and then fill out registration forms. When asked why we had to do this the same smiling face told us that it is what we have to do. When asked why we had to do it when on the previous night in France the Ibis check did not require sight of any form of ID and no forms were needed to be completed tand that we are British and that we are members of Accor A1 loyalty scheme, the answer (still smiling) was it's because we have to. We gave up and did as we were asked. Perhap someone from Ibis reading this would advise me why this is necessary.I then asked about internet conection and was told that for £9.95 we could have full internet services including films. This I didn't need and didn't want to pay for something I thought would be free. On getting to the room I found that there was free cable supplied internet - this was not mentioned by the girl on reception. The cable was provided, but the internet socket was broken.Value:We got a discounted deal - excellent value.Sleep Quality:Ibis have the best beds that you will find in any hotel.

ibis Portsmouth Centre: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Parking"

27th July 2011, croydon

I wasn't impressed to be told I had to park in an unguarded overflow car park when there was space in the fenced off car park. The rooms were ok but its certainly deteriorated since last year! Why must it be 200 words is this an exam question?
