"Not bad for city centre"

Booked two rooms, one double and one twin. Double was fine if not a little warm, but was quite shocked by the twin in that there was a 1cm space between the beds if that. Exactly same configuration as the double room, but two narrow twins making up a double bed essentially. Friends who stayed in the twin were not particularly impressed.Hotel location is good and close to all amenities, with benefit of underground secure car park for £10 a night which we paid. Be warned however, car park is very tight to manoeuvre around and could have done with a bit better signage on the road leading to the hotel as we went round the one-way system twice trying to find the entrance to the car park!Reception staff very friendly, quick check-in and out. Didn't use the restaurant or bar as we were only there one night for the cricket.View management response »

We stayed here before so we had a standard to expect, however on this occasion it was way below! On the positive side, location (the main reason for us to use this Hotel) has not changed, thankfully. We know that the noisy is an issue with this Hotel, but we can cope with that. What it is really irritating, annoying and frustrating is the attitude from personnel. It started at check-in and all the way they were obstructive and did not recognize the main reasons why we had to complain. As loyal Customers our requests to solve the issues were completely ignored! Requesting a twin room high floor (because of the noise), we were told that twins were only on the 1st floor, despite last time staying on the 4th floor in a twin; the facilities in the room were small size, broken window catch, shower broken as well. Even more frustrating was the fact that contacting the reception was not taken into account so we emailed as well to be once again ignored!!! Last but not least, what a lovely surprise to have a wake up call 2 hours before check-out. Thank you for running it completely! We are definitely going back neither recommending this Hotel!View management response »

Good value, as usual, and well trained staff - ditto. Always disappointing to see nasty Nescafe in rooms - time to switch to Fair Trade, Accor - it's the 21st century! As so often, there is a problem with plumbing in Ibis hotels - a smell of drains can permeate the room. We always take a plug-in room freshener.View management response »

Having stayed here many times before I re stayed here last week. The hotel rooms are always clean and well appointed. This stay was only marred by the front desk staff not being able to follow simple billing instructions and find it difficult to arrange split invoices.View management response »
