"Not bad for city centre"
15th September 2013, boomstick79, London, United Kingdom
Booked two rooms, one double and one twin. Double was fine if not a little warm, but was quite shocked by the twin in that there was a 1cm space between the beds if that. Exactly same configuration as the double room, but two narrow twins making up a double bed essentially. Friends who stayed in the twin were not particularly impressed.Hotel location is good and close to all amenities, with benefit of underground secure car park for £10 a night which we paid. Be warned however, car park is very tight to manoeuvre around and could have done with a bit better signage on the road leading to the hotel as we went round the one-way system twice trying to find the entrance to the car park!Reception staff very friendly, quick check-in and out. Didn't use the restaurant or bar as we were only there one night for the cricket.View management response »
Management responseThank you for providing some feedback on your recent stay.It is important the guests do leave comments/suggestions in order for the hotel to continuously improve.I appreciate the twin rooms can be small as there is not much of a gap between the beds. I apologise for any discomfort your friends may have gone through.I certainly hope that you would consider coming back to stay at the hotel in the near future.Kind Regards
"Not to the standards expected!"
13th September 2013, pete191, Manchester, United Kingdom
We stayed here before so we had a standard to expect, however on this occasion it was way below! On the positive side, location (the main reason for us to use this Hotel) has not changed, thankfully. We know that the noisy is an issue with this Hotel, but we can cope with that. What it is really irritating, annoying and frustrating is the attitude from personnel. It started at check-in and all the way they were obstructive and did not recognize the main reasons why we had to complain. As loyal Customers our requests to solve the issues were completely ignored! Requesting a twin room high floor (because of the noise), we were told that twins were only on the 1st floor, despite last time staying on the 4th floor in a twin; the facilities in the room were small size, broken window catch, shower broken as well. Even more frustrating was the fact that contacting the reception was not taken into account so we emailed as well to be once again ignored!!! Last but not least, what a lovely surprise to have a wake up call 2 hours before check-out. Thank you for running it completely! We are definitely going back neither recommending this Hotel!View management response »

"Take your own coffee"
9th September 2013, RedLynne, London, United Kingdom
Good value, as usual, and well trained staff - ditto. Always disappointing to see nasty Nescafe in rooms - time to switch to Fair Trade, Accor - it's the 21st century! As so often, there is a problem with plumbing in Ibis hotels - a smell of drains can permeate the room. We always take a plug-in room freshener.View management response »
Management responseThank you for providing some feedback on your recent stay. I have certainly made a note of your suggestions!I hope we can welcome you back to the hotel in the near future.Kind Regards
"Stay at Ibis- Birmingham Centre- Ladywell Walk"
30th August 2013, philrturner, Langourla
Having stayed here many times before I re stayed here last week. The hotel rooms are always clean and well appointed. This stay was only marred by the front desk staff not being able to follow simple billing instructions and find it difficult to arrange split invoices.View management response »

We are quite a new team here, including myself, and I hope we are learning all of the time in order to improve our service.I certainly hope we can welcome you back to the hotel again very soon.Kind Regards

"Great, just don't order room service!"
4th August 2013, TicTacT0, Telford, United Kingdom
Great value, better than expected for the price. However did make the mistake of paying £9.95 for a pizza off room service and got a £3 Chicago Town pizza with a bit of parsley thrown on top, not worth the money at all. Bit of noise from nearby nightclubs, but knew they were nearby when booked so was expecting that.View management response »

The service offered at the hotel was top class. Once we called to reception from the room we were greeted by friendly staff who were more than willing to meet our needs. We felt most welcomed and have booked this hotel again in 3 weeks time.View management response »

"Lovely hotel shame about organisation of bookings"
1st August 2013, Sibz86, Nottingham, United Kingdom
Booked online for two rooms, on arrival, got into the car park, no problems and was lovely to be able to park at the hotel with its central location. However we got there at 11.55am and were told we had to wait 10-15 minutes to check in due to waiting for rooms to be released, then when we got to check in regardless of the fact the rooms where booked under one name the lady told us we were to be on two different floors. We asked that we get them on the same floor, and were told we would have to wait 1/2 hour in one room, to see i anything was available which when away for one night is totally unacceptable, staff did not seem to care at all. Ended up on two floors so we could enjoy our weekend away. However the rooms where clean and adequate although hot at night and if you opened windows very noisy, but were happy overall as location was fab for bullring and local bars and clubs.View management response »
Management responseThank you for taking the time to provide some feedback on your recent stay.I have looked into your comments in regards to issues at check in and can only apologise for any inconvenience caused. In order for this not to happen again, the only thing I can suggest is that at time of booking, you request for rooms to pre allocated. This way you will guarantee to have rooms next to each other.I know this does not help matters now but once again, my sincere apologies.Kind Regards

Good service, all staff friendly and helpful. Room basic but clean and good for the price. Location not great but suited our needs (visit to the Hippodrome). Breakfast self service, good selection, worth paying for.View management response »

"Adequate hotel, but beware of car park limitations."
24th July 2013, christoski, Alberta
I've stayed at various hotels under the Accor chain several times and have generally had a pleasant experience. For the most part this time was no different. The hotel was everything I expected: clean, affordable, comfortable, and consistent with my other stays. One small issue was that their car park was full for the night so I was advised to park in a third party car park, and was promised I would pay the same price as their own car park. My instructions were to park, retain the ticket stub, upon departure get a stamp at reception, bring the stub to the car park attendant and pay the discounted hotel rate (10 pounds vs 14). I did as instructed except that when I went to find the car park attendant, it turned out there wasn't one. The attendant's booth was empty and I was forced to pay the regular rate. When I brought this up at the hotel reception desk, they apologized but said there was nothing they could do as they do not manage the car park, they just have a deal with them. I didn't press the issue as it's not a big deal to me, but it's just something to be aware of for future hotel guests. If the hotel car park is full, and there is no attendant at the third party car park, you will likely need to pay the regular rate. Otherwise the hotel itself was fine, I just wish they had a better system in place in the event that the car park attendant is not there.View management response »
Management responseThank you for taking the time to provide some feedback on your recent stay.I have taken your comments about the car park and will look into a solution to stop any further occurances.I am pleased you did still enjoy your stay and look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel again soon.Kind Regards
"Great budget hotel"
23rd July 2013, Amanda B
Stayed for two nights, and the hotel was exactly what we were looking for - a cheap and cheerful hotel in the centre of town. Close to New Street Station, & shops, restaurants etc (which meant some late night noise - but this is obviously expected in the city centre). Secure overnight parking was a plus. Staff were great - helpful and friendly, and the room, whilst basic, was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was compact, but clean and modern. Would use again.View management response »
Management responseThank you very much for your kind comments and feedback on your recent stay.I will certainly pass on your feedback to the staff members on duty!We hope to welcome you back to the hotel again very soon!Kind Regards
"A great location for a budget hotel in the City centre for business or pleasure."
23rd July 2013, Bee_Norway, Oslo, Norway
Ibis is always consistent in its high standards - no frills, but clean and comfortable and well located for the City centre close to New Street station. I always choose this hotel when I need to be in Birmingham.View management response »

"A lovely stay in Birmingham"
17th July 2013, Adueni J, Cambridge
I have stayed at the Ibis Hotels on a few occasions and have always found them to be excellent value, very clean and friendly and I can not fault the rooms at all.My stay in Birmingham was interesting to say the lest as I got a taste from my hotel room of the local night life! I observed that being up till way past dawn is the custom of the locals! Although it did not bother me as I do not sleep much anyway - it may not be good for those folk who do not like to be disturbed - but it kept me well and truly entertained! Some rather lovely views of the Chines quarter from my hotel window too :)All in all a very pleasant experience :)View management response »

"Another excellent stay over"
4th July 2013, cuddlybear_1, Nuneaton, United Kingdom
Again the hotel was fantastic, the service and all round cleanliness was outstanding as always. We always stay here when we visit Birmingham, this time it was for my wife's birthday, in which we went to the hippodrome, which is 50 yards from the hotel, to see lion king . Then moved into the acacia for drinks and food. All the staff were present, friendly and approachable. The rooms were excellent.View management response »

"Ibis Chinatown Birmingham"
4th July 2013, PaulaandAnthony, Shrewsbury, United Kingdom
Poor staff and breakfast was so poor we asked for a e fund.Ibis have this promise that if service is not acceptable then it will be sorted in 15 minutes. Really! All we got was " I am doing my best but if you are not happy then you can have your money back" we did and got a cheaper and better breakfast at Weatherspoons. No wonder they were offering two fo one breakfasts!Stay at the Holiday Inn around the corner - so much better.View management response »
