ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Poor, very poor"

15th May 2012, Dublin

I have always been happy with the Accor hotel group. I have stayed in many cities and use a LeClub Silver Loyalty card, however, this stay was my second bad experience with the group. (The last was a Mercure, and I have stayed in many but St Domingo, Madrid was not good at all.) This time it was 2 nights the Ibis Brussels centre Saint Catherine. I have only stayed at one Ibis hotel before at that was about 15 years ago. The Room was basic, no mini-bar or safe. the bathroom resembled a shoe box, where you needed to turn at the door and reverse to the toilet. The breakfast was very sparse with 2 of the 3 machines short of juice. Tables were dirty with dishes (This was still the same 20minutes later when I was leaving). The biggest problem however was the banging of doors in the corridor early morning (approx 5.30) and the noisy guests after midnight. One good point was the ease of internet access. But I won't be going back and I will be avoiding the Ibis brand when booking through the website.

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 3.0 out of 5 stars "For weekends, a value for money"

23rd April 2012, Mike_BXL, Prague, Czech Republic

IBIS is generally no surprise, fair level of service if you get a reasonable deal and your demands are limited to bed and cleanness.Basically, the hotel is cheap - rooms and bathrooms are very small, and the design of corridors resembles an American motel, including the oil paint seen rarely in Europe. Compared to what they normally charge on weekdays (125EUR for pay-in-advance-no cancel), the hotel is a joke, but we were happy as we managed to get a weekend deal (40 EUR a room) via Accor Club e-mail (I recommend everyone signing in their scheme, although this was the first useful thing that came out in 2 years). The location is very good for both business and tourist visits as you can walk to most places on foot, or take several subway lines from nearby hub. The neighborhood has fairly low car traffic (i.e. relatively good air), but gets somehow noisy at night.A very positive thing to say is free wifi introduced quite recently even on rooms and I also found very useful their internet terminal located in the bar.The reception staff is friendly and helpful, but the bar staff leaves a lot to be deserved - it''s much better to head for another place. Same with their breakfasts - they are not worth the 15EUR they ask for it. You can get much better food and ambience for little less in the cafes in nearby streets.

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 4.0 out of 5 stars "location"

The location is very strategic, it is near to the shops and the historic church. the staffs are also friendly.

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great location, value for money"

10th April 2012, Sao Paulo, Brazil

Great location, value for money. The hotel was very good, near to a lot of good restaurants, the Grand Place and the metro station. But the AC was not working very well, so the room get hot often.

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Good budget hotel"

25th March 2012, Cambridge UK

Well placed near the city centre outside the main tourist traps. Well priced. Good staff, service, cleanliness, general layout. Basic facilities in room. Lacks coffee/tea making in room. Noise from other guests at night; hard pillows, so sleep was poor.

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 3.0 out of 5 stars "My stay in Brussels"

22nd March 2012, Spangdahlem, Germany

The NEGATIVE:I made reservations online for two rooms. My printout summary said that each room had a double bed, single bed, the third was a pull out couch. Upon arriving to my room it was only two single beds per room. If you reserve online make sure you call and verify you room. The POSITIVE:The location of this hotel is perfect for walking anywhere downtown brussels. Also located right next to a parking garage. The price of this hotel was cheaper than most in the area and is still nice, small but nice.

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 3.0 out of 5 stars "߀SLH4InI*"

17th March 2012, London, United Kingdom

The hotel is in close to St Catherine but next to a fairly shabby part of town where homeless people sleep on the streets - you will need to walk past them to take the most direct route to the centre of Brussels. The rooms are small, especially the bathrooms: you can't sit on the loo without twisting your shoulders or knees to fit. It is difficult to control the heating in the rooms - they have blanked off the controls on the radiators and there is a constant influx of cool air from a very noisy vent - which, thankfully, is turned off for a few hours overnight. Breakfast is expensive. Apart from the above, the hotel is OK, and relatively cheap for Brussels standards.

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Small and cold rooms, good location"

12th March 2012, Ankara, Turkey

I have stayed four nights at this hotel. The rooms are clean, however they are cold and small. There is no central heating. There is only a room aircondition system which is not working very well. In the bathroom, there is a small electirical heating which is not enough for this too cold bathroom during Winter period. The breakfast is very good! The location is very good. It is just 10 minute walk from Grand Palace and 20 minute walk from Central Station.

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good location and service"

3rd March 2012, Prague, Czech Republic

Hotel is very good located close to the city center and the main business area. Good public transport connection and good walking distance to the railway station. Very good restaurant and bar and quiet in the room

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 3.0 out of 5 stars "For the ones who seek a good location"

2nd March 2012, bijouM, Tehran, Iran

I've booked this hotel just a few days before my trip to Brussels so I couldn't look through all other alternatives. I am not dissatisfied with this hotel nor recommending it. Main strength is that it is very close to a metro station and too main market. (also there is other Ibis hotels even closer but a bit more expensive). There was nothing extraordinary in this hotel, pretty small room with a shower and a TV. Most Ibis hotels are like this. But the hotel was too old and not recently renovated so for example we had problems with the heat. I had a fidelity card of AccorHotels and in my previous stays there was always some special gifts/services (like drink vouchers, gifts...) but this time the receptionist does not even bother to ask us if we need any maps of the city or even if we are interested in having breakfast in the hotel. When I see these details in a hotel, I feel that they won't pay attention to much bigger things either. Brussels is a big city so I'm sure that you can find much better hotels with this price.

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 3.0 out of 5 stars "weekend in Bruxelles"

29th February 2012, Anna G, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg

The location of the hotel is quiet convenient, a little bit tricky to find although the big sign helped. Directly behind the hotel, there is a fishmarket, where they had a nice aperitivo on Sunday. The mattress is really comfortable. The bathroom is very, very small and the walls are not so clean. Overall okay for a weekend, where you only sleep in the hotel.

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 4.0 out of 5 stars "value for money"

20th February 2012, Vienna, Austria

I have booked by internet one night (prepaid). For professional reasons I needed to book a consecutive second night, again by internet (prepaid, at a higher rate). To combine these reservations in order the keep the same room, was managed by staff pretty well. An early quick breakfast could be arranged satisfactorily.

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good but WIFI should be free! PRICE to HIGH"

9th February 2012, Bladel

We had a nice stay in st. Catharine as we do every year. We visit FOSDEM and hotel is nearby center. Cleaning is good, parking at P58 is good and close, breakfast is good.I think that free WIKI is some sort of must have, 'like water from the crane'.

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Nice value midrange hotel, good central location, quiet room"

29th January 2012, afg225, Kranj, Slovenia

My second stay in this hotel. Ibis has a standard set of amenities, good beds, WIFI in the room worked great, friendly and helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast, For some reason, I tend to sleep uniformly well on Ibis beds, so within this price range, I try to find one as my accommodation. The location of the hotel is a block away from Metro and the main pedestrian district is within 5 minutes walking distance.

ibis Brussels Centre Ste Catherine: 4.0 out of 5 stars "IBIS: known quality/price/expectations"

24th January 2012, Palmer, Massachusetts, USA

Exactly what you expect at IBIS for those who have stayed at IBIS hotels before. Efficient, clean, dependable, snug. Only quibble is the too small left luggage area and exhorbitant cost for left luggage lockers (priced by size of locker)--most other IBIS we have been to have not charged to hold your lugagge for early arrival/late departure. Location is decent--make sure you get off at Gare Central not Midi to get from the intercity trains to this IBIS.Location great for tourist sites, just a short walk away to both the St Catherine area and the Grand Place. Breakfast (buffet) is as usual at IBIS overpriced for what you get--you can safely skip it. Cafes and ubiquitous Turkish kebab stands all round the area are more price/value reasonable. Two grocery chain stores--one of them a Carrefour--are just a block away although they tend to close early 19:30/20:00 ish. Numerous cafes and restos in the area--quite a few decent asian restos right around the corner from the IBIS. Avoid the Grand Place tourist restos--overpriced and filled with touts trying to get you in to their establishment.RV&GV
