ibis Brussels Centre St Catherine - hotel reviews in Brussels

We were slightly disappointed on our arrival at the Ibis St Catherine. The foyer was very busy and a bit dingy and our room (507) small. However once we had sorted our luggage out, we were there for 4 nights, we managed to find places to put things. The bed and pillows were excellent, in fact, possibly the best we have ever had in a hotel! The shower room had everything we needed and was exceptionally clean. We were well looked after by pleasant staff. The St Catherine area is handy for the Grand Place, about 8 mins walk, and has an array of good restaurants, We would stay there, by choice, again.Looking at other reviews of this budget hotel I can only say if you feel it is too much to pay half a euro for a map you need to upgrade to luxury status. Maps just are that price in Brussels but you don't actually need one, it is very walkable, there are lots of signposts and the natives are friendly.View management response »
Management responseDear Reviewer, Thank you for taking your time to submit a review on Tripadvisor after your stay with us.We are delighted to learn that your experience has left a lasting positive impression. Please note it was a little bit crowdy as we are having renovations for the moment to make it even more comfortable for our clients in the future. My team and I look forward to having the pleasure in welcoming you back for a return visit!

My stay was for 1 night only and had booked two rooms. I found both rooms neat and clean but a bit smelly, maybe due to dampness. It would have been better if there was an air freshener. Apart from that everything was fine. The staff at the reception was very helpful especially a gentleman called FAHAD who gave answers to all my queries and had a pleasant personality. Thank you
"Well placed, quiet hotel!"

We stayed here in August 2013 for 2 nights. Staff were very helpful and accommodating both on arrival and departure. Hotel is really well placed for St Catherine's Square and Grande Place (less than 5 minutes walk) and for the location is incredibly quiet! Rooms are a tad small compared to other Ibis' and the bathroom was tiny, but clean and absolutely fine for 2 nights. Beds are the new style ones with Memory Foam toppers and you are guaranteed a good nights sleep! I'm really glad we chose this hotel instead of the Ibis off Grande Place...the square it was on was busy at all times of day and night and not worth the extra cost per night in my opinion. There are also lots of really good places to eat and grab a drink near the hotel...look out for the lunchtime deals on St Catherine's Square. The Hotel was 2 streets away from the De Brouckhere Metro stop, which is 4 stops from the Eurostar terminal...fantastic! Would definitely stay again!
"Excellent location but avarage room"

Toilet - Toilet Bowl was broken and cracked, although the shower is pleasant.Bedroom - It was tidy and clean.Hotel infra-structure - Ok, although a bit old and needs a little renovations.Breakfast - Average. Don't go expecting many options and a 'nice breakfast standard', but it's ok for a 2 stars hotel.

Great Location, very centrally, yet quiet. 5 minutes from Grand Place by foot, 10 minutes from Central Station. Rooms are clean and comfy, TV with loads of English channels, bed is good toilet is bit too small though. All in all good hotel, good value, would recommend.
"Great city break accomodation option"

This hotel is very well positioned within Brussels, being about a 10 minutes stroll to the center and most attractions. Excellent value for money and I would definitely recommend it.Stuff is very friendly and professional

This hotel is the usual Ibis standard city hotel and well located fifteen minutes walk from Brussels central station. It is quite close to the Grand Place (probably the best town square in Europe). There are several Belgian beer bars nearby recommended in the Telegraph 10 best belgian beer bars in Brussels.

"Very good value for money"

The view was great in our room, and the room was very clean. The only problem was that the air conditioning started automatically (and resetted any settings) two times of day at a fairly low temperature for our taste (24 C) and the staff was fairly poweless with respect to customizing that behavior (all they could do is turn it off at specified times in the day, but they sometimes forgot)
"Decent room in a great location"

The hotel is a short walk away from the Grand Place, which makes it a perfect base for exploring the city. The room itself was small (especially the bathroom), but this was ok for us as we were only staying for one night. The shower pressure was good and the bed was comfortable and these are the most important points for me. The hotel staff were pleasant.View management response »
Management responseDear,It is always nice to hear that our staff wa pleasant during your stay. We know that the rooms are on the small side but I am very happy that you mentioned the good shower pressure (important to start the day :-)) and the comfortable bed!Best regards,

I chose the hotel because it was recommended by rick steve. rick steve is yet to disappoint me with his recommendations. true enough it was a good hotel. value and location were great. staff were very helpful except for the manager or supervisor (older guy) who seemed not to be happy to be there.View management response »
Management responseDear,Thank you for our feeback about our hotel and I am sorry to hear that you were a little dissapointed. Very good location, clean rooms, extremely comfortable bed. Corridor walls are ugly for me, but never mind. Breakfast should starts earlier (6:00 a.m. instead of 6:30). A simple city map with main attractions would be helpful inside the rooms. Good parking opportunity next of the hotel (Parking 58) is good for travelers.View management response »
Management responseDear,It's really great to read such positive feedback on our hotel and the comfort our beds offer. This is what a hotel is about no? A really comfortable bed and a good night rest! Please, next time when you visit Brussels and our hotel ask for a city map at the reception desk, we provide them for free.

A kettle in the room + some coffee/tea/milk would be really nice for people like me that often work late or get up really early to work.Breakfast was nice, check-in efficient.Fresh air in the corridors impressed me - some hotel corridors are really stuffy.View management response »
Management responseDear Sir,Thank you for your feedback, it ialways helps us in order to improve our service towards our guests. As a 3* ibis hotel we do not provide coffee/tea facilities in the rooms but we do provide a 24h service in the bar.
