We picked this hotel for an overnight stop on our way from Switzerland to Cherbourg and it was perfect. The only slight 'down' was the size of room (tiny). It is not really in the town 'centre', but a 10/15 min stroll away, although a lovely location by the river, so may be better! Staff and cleanliness were tops.
The stay was exactly as what I would expect from an Ibis hotel: decent quality for a decent price. We chose not to take breakfast the first morning, but decided to take one the second - boy, did we miss something the previous day! Our room had a nice view of the city, but was a bit small - the foot end of our bed was only 20cm away from the wall. When wee peeked into the neighbouring room, it seemed much bigger than ours, while it was also a two person room.
Service, the staff were always friendly and courteous The room and hotel was very clean Value ias consider competitive Location was excellent, quiet free local parking (street) and a short walk from local restaurants. I slept very well both nights. The room was small, but adequate for my needs, it was warm, quiet and clean, bed was comfortable.
We stayed here for 2 nights on our way throught to our ski resort. The hotel team were very welcoming and even though we arrived fairly late we were able to get a hot snack. The room although a little on the small side was very clean and well kitted out and the bed was extremely comfortable. There is plenty parking just opposite the hotel and it is free. A good breakfast available too.The hotel is within easy walking distance to the town where there are plenty choices of restaurants. Very good value for money.
This Ibis may not be the most prepossessing hotel from the outside, nor when you enter the lobby, but given a room on the first floor overlooking the river, complete with minuscule balcony and views of the cathedral and abbey, our choice was vindicated. Secure parking is available nearby, but you are advised to choose it only if you have a very small car! Parking our Volvo V70 was a nightmare, and once in the garage (they are individual ones) it was almost impossible to squeeze out of the narrow door opening! The hotel serves the usual Ibis Styles excellent breakfast which is worth every euro. The bed too was one of the most comfortable we have experienced, and a minor criticism was that the room being quite small space to hang clothes was pretty lacking. The city centre's shops and restaurants, and the cathedral, are within an easy walk, if a bit uphill!
Very nice Hotel with excellent staff who are all cheerful and helpful, I have stayed here before and enjoy this hotel and the breakfast is excellent and the rooms clean but they would benefit from air con as they do get a little warm and if you open the window the traffic noise is a little noisy but this is only a little issue as this is a very pleasant hotel in a nice town also has a garage for our motorcycles
First appearances are disappointing but our room was extremely comfortable and the en suite bathroom (or rather, shower room) if small nevertheless had a luxurious shower and was clearly very new. The bed was big and exceptionally comfortable. The view over the river to the Cathedral and Abbey was sensational, the French window opening on to a (very!) small balcony. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the standard Ibis Styles breakfast buffet as always more than satisfying. On street parking was a problem, probably due to the very good group performing over the road; we actually enjoyed their playing well into the night, so much so that we kept the French window open! Having had our car broken into many years ago in an unsecured Mercure Hotel car park we opted to pay €10 for the Hotel's secure garage; be warned - it is very tight and having eventually managed to insert our Volvo into the confined space it was a struggle to get out of the car! Some forty years having elapsed since our last visit to Auxerre, we had forgotten what a fascinating city it is and will definitely make an overnight stop again there, and may well book into this Ibis again, at least if we are guaranteed the same view from the room.
