Mercure Alencon: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Stopover"

25th January 2012, TreezeeC, Essex

Excellent stop. We have stopped before here and enjoyed the comfort and friendliness of the hotel. Excellent restaurant next door is a must!! Again, we have been to this before and it never fails to please us!

Mercure Alencon: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Just what you need"

7th October 2011, Chester, United Kingdom

We have been using this hotel for the last 10 years plus. We found it quite by accident when trawling around Alencon looking for accommodation. It is conveniently placed near the motorway and town centre. Dogs are welcome. The staff are very welcoming and the hotel is just what you need as a stopover when travelling whether you are starting or finishing your stay in France. Prices have not risen a great deal in the last decade and the cost of a room and breakfast is still reasonable and will not break the bank.Evening meals are not served but the Receptionist can give reccommondations as to where to eat in the centre and surrounding areas. If you have time you should explore Alencon there is a lot going on.

Mercure Alencon: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Good hotel, looks like a reborn Campanile."

7th October 2011, DewsWestMidlands, West Midlands

A useful stop over if traveling to Brittany or the Loire. The hotel looks to have been a Campanile in an earlier life, but has been reorganized and improved. Alencon is a pretty run-of-the-mill place. The hotel is good, clean and has a good breakfast. No restaurant, unfortunately, but opposite a brand ne shopping complex with Le Clerc supermarket, a Flunch and a range of good shops.

Mercure Alencon: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Mercure at Alencon"

13th September 2011, Hereford, United Kingdom

Excellent hotel, room to a good standard, plenty of parking, staff very helpful with an excellent independant restaurant next door. Very easy location to find. We very much enjoyed our overnight stay and certainly would recommend

Mercure Alencon: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Never on Sundays"

14th June 2011, rufa09, Leicester

We chose this hotel because it was convenient for the motorway. Another reviewer on Trip Advisor had said that its lack of a restaurant did not matter as there was an excellent one next door to the hotel. This is true. The restaurant looked very nice but it is closed Sunday night and on Mondays. There are no alternatives within walking distance so we ended up having a grotty fast food meal at the nearby shopping complex..One tip. If you do stay here do not pre-book and pre-pay for breakfast. The standard charge is an extortionate 10 euros but it is possible to just have a croissant and coffee for rather less.

Mercure Alencon: 5.0 out of 5 stars "First trip to Le Mans for Moto Gp"

24th May 2011, Cousland

Excellent hotel within easy reach of Le Mans via autoroute. Quiet location, very nice staff and high quality rooms. Excellent restaurant next door to the hotel; something very special at a reasonable price.

Mercure Alencon: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Not usual Mercure Standard"

10th April 2011, roamingroto, Hemingford Grey, United Kingdom

Decided to stay at Alencon Mercure to break journey home from our holiday home. Have stayed previously at Ibis in Alencon, which is a bit basic but OK, so decided to have a change and stay at the Mercure. First impressions very poor. Reception area STANK OF SMOKE - the man on reception duty also smelt heavily of smoke. He was not particularly welcoming. Room on 2nd floor (an up-graded room we'd paid extra for) was just about OK, but this too smelt of smoke even though it said it was a Non Smoking area. Went out to eat, but being a Sunday night there was little choice, and sadly the nice restaurant close by the Mercure was closed. On returning in the evening, went for a drink in the bar area - again the area was reeking of smoke with the windows and doors opened to try to disguise it. Mercure Management need to do something to stop their staff smoking whilst on duty. It's most off-putting and would have to say, NEVER AGAIN would we stay at this hotel.
