"Nice hotel, but not deserving of four stars"

A nice hotel in a beautiful setting. Although not quite up to the luxury standards to which it aspires. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. The rooms were quite comfortable, although maintenance could be improved (mold in the bathroom and light bulb out when we checked in). The big disappointment was the food. The restaurant gets rave reviews in the guidebooks, but was a complete disappointment. Our first night we ate there. There was only a "menu", 3 choices for each of the three courses, with a la carte not an option. The real problem was that none of the dishes the three of us ordered were very good. (We later talked to other hotel guests who had a similar first night experience, the next night). From then on we ate at a number of marvelous restaurants in Gosier, all of which had much better food (and generally lower prices). The breakfast buffet was also a bit of a disappointment. The croissant were below par, and the breakfast was always under-staffed, so it was difficult to get hot coffee. One morning they were out of baquette before 9 a.m., inexcusable.
