"Good Value"

Obviously an older style hotel and the lounge and breakfast room were quite dark being below street level but it carried a certain old world charm. The location suited us as it wasn't in the middle of the city and easily accessible by metro, bus and hop-on/hop-off bus at Plaza de Espanya which is about a 5 minute walk away. Plenty of places to eat in the immediate area. The staff were pleasant and helpful but only when approached. Reception staff were courteous but didn't exactly make us feel we were 'special' guests. Breakfast (at 15 euros) was more than adequate but with a rather limited selection for a buffet - if you wanted eggs, you had to pay extra. The hotel also offered an express breakfast option at a reduced rate. The room was comfortable with a small balcony although I'm not sure which room would give you a view of central Madrid (as advertised on the website). The bathroom was small but probably average for European standards;it was well-maintained and very clean. Overall, we thought this hotel offered good value for money and we would stay here again.

"Nice stay"

I liked almost everything, first of all the hospitality of the staff. Our room was rather good, the only thing what I didn't like was that the location of the power sockets in the room.I had to reach it very down under the table to charge my cell phone or laptop.By the way,we had free of charge and good speed internet access in the room.Breakfast was also good,if not count that it was actually the same every day during our 4 days stay.As for me,I think it should cost little cheaper or at least the extra charge fried/scrambled eggs should be included in the price.Rest was very good.I liked our stay there
"Excellent hotel in Madrid"

Overall very good, good location, clean, kind staff, free wireless internet and confortable.I am very "picky" with hotels and definitely recommend this one. For both business or leisure is good and has a good price/quality relation.
"A comfortable stay at Mercure Madrid"
13th February 2012, ERNOLSHEIM-BRUCHE
The hotel is well situated and there was a friendly welcome from the reception. The breakfast was delightful, and the room was well cared for. Despite that the hotel is quite close to a road, the traffic noise was rarely perceptible in the room. The hotel is situated close to main town and one can easily go to main town by foot. Just about a fifteen minute walk.
"Excellent location"

The hotel is located wonderfully, just two minutes walk from Ventura Rodriguez metro station and a little further from the interchange station Plaza de Espana. The hotel itself has old-world charm in its lobby and the bedrooms.

"Possibilities to make it better"
7th October 2011, Munich, Germany
1. I can hear clearly what the neighbors are talking about in the midnight at 3:00 o'clock, because the sound just penetrated the wall.2. There is always cost on tiny little things, such as internet, drink, tv program. I would rather suggest to include all these tiny costs (especially internet) into the total room cost so that it makes much more comfortable.
"Good value and god transport links"

Obliging staff, good location for Metro and parks. Spacious, air conditioned rooms although a bit too stuffy even for the end of September. Close to a variety of of cafe/bars/restaurants to suit all pockets.
"Great location, but unfriendly service"
13th September 2011, Singapore
Stayed at Mercure Plaza de Espana for a total of 6 nights in August. Location is great, it's located about 5 mins away from the Plaza de Espana metro, and has a few good eateries serving a variety of food, from Spanish Iberian ham sandwiches to Churros and Cafe con leche. There's also your regular Starbucks and Macs located nearby. Supermarket VIPS sells snacks and water till late in the evening, which is always handy.Rooms were large, and quiet, there was enough space for us to place our luggage without tripping over each other.Service was friendly for the first few nights but largely inconsistent amongst the staff (typically 1/2 people manning the desk). I would like to commend ángel and Juan who were extremely helpful in offering sightseeing options. Angel was also extremely helpful and provided us a flask of warm water for me to take my medication. However, my last few nights at the hotel proved to be unpleasant when I encountered Enriquez, who worked the night shift. On 2 separate occasions, when we asked him for a flask of warm water nicely, he insisted that he was unable to offer us because 1. either he did not know how to operate the mini bar , or 2. he was alone and couldn't step away for 5 mins (even though there was no one in the lobby). Both reasons did not make sense because he eventually filled the flask with water and stepped away from his desk for 5 mins, after my insistence, and handled me the water with a killer stare.I am unsure if this is an isolated experience (maybe he didn't understand English or didn't like my face), but would appreciate that this be looked into. After all, customer service equates to extending hospitality to your guests, let alone in times of simple needs.Thanks.
"Good hotel, good location"
4th September 2011, Paris, France
Overall we found this hotel very comfortable and the staff were all friendly and efficient. Good location. Plenty of choice at breakfast. We had a very good deal price-wise, but felt that it would have been a little over-priced had we paid the usual rates. No complaints though.
"Great Rooms, Comfy Beds and Helpful Staff"
3rd September 2011, JennyWrenLuxembourg, Luxembourg
We really enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was comfortable, the beds and the duvets were great. The bathroom was large and clean. The staff at the front desk was cheery and helpful in spite of the fact that our Spanish is poor. The hotel has plenty of restaurants, bars and fast food places in the area so eating out was not a problem. In fact there is a Starbucks about 100m away where we breakfasted. The hotel is well situated for the Palace, the Plaza Mayor and the Puerte del Sol. Other sites are considerably further away. Metro access is easy but we chose to make our journeys by foot. It takes about 45 minutes to walk to the train station, so a bit less to the Reine Sofia and the Prado.
"Excellent Hotel"
15th August 2011, Buchares
The hotel offers great value, extremely nice and efficient service and has a great location....close to most of Madrid's landmarks but situated on a quiet street near Plaza Espana. We had a fantastic stay there, the front-desk personel was very helpful, excellent sleep quality, air conditioning was working fine and very decent breakfast. I highly recomment this property.
