The Convent Hotel Amsterdam - MGallery Collection: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Much to like, though minor letdowns"

26th February 2013, pja642, Leicester, United Kingdom

Excellent in many ways. My only complaints regard the tired decor in the room with wallpaper beginning to peel in the corners and holes in the curtains. There was little room between the bed and desk for the chair and its occupant. Also slow service at the bar for the snack I ordered (a pub around the corner was much sharper in this respect). I would hazard a guess that this hotel has been taken over by Accor fairly recently and though they have made a good job of the refurbishment as far it goes, there is still a little way to go. I had a similar experience at the Mercure Antwerp Opera (formerly the dreadful Residence Hotel) but the room there, at least, was superb. THese are relatively minor gripes and I would certainly recommend the hotel.

The Convent Hotel Amsterdam - MGallery Collection: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great Location! Great staff.....could do with a refit????"

31st January 2013, DBowManchester, Manchester

got an upgarde to a Luxury room when we checked in..a great start! Staff were responsive and attentive - a real asset to the Hotel. I think the public areas could do with a refit as they are bland which is not how I see the MGallerry Hotels. The ceiling has those awful ceiling tiles and - horror of horrors - mirror ceiling tiles as well!!!!!In all a great stay in a centrally located Hotel

The Convent Hotel Amsterdam - MGallery Collection: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Charming area in the heart of Amsterdam"

30th January 2013, Tom O, Sligo, Ireland

Lovely hotel in lovey location but still only 2 minutes walk to Dam square and very handy for Ann Frank museum and other attractions. Excellent recommendations from hotel reception for local restaurants. Rooms tidy but very clean and no noise at night time for perfect sleep. Warm hotel though cold with snow during our 2 night stay. Very well priced and would go back there. Only comment but not hotel is cost of taxi for local runs in the snow - E10-E15 a go !

The Convent Hotel Amsterdam - MGallery Collection: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Dreamy Description Creates High Expectations"

7th January 2013, ChinaJoe889, Hong Kong, China

Hotel sells itself as something amazing but in reality its just a very very well located tired spot. Breakfast buffet (if you pay) is simple but healthy. The first hotel I ever stayed in where the view from the room was a brick wall. Staff not very welcoming and were good a providing challenges at check-in.

The Convent Hotel Amsterdam - MGallery Collection: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Nice"

28th December 2012, pekjka, Riga

As for a platinum member my room was upgraded (although I did not have a card and I had to specificaly ask for an upgrade), but the rest was great. After a few hour walk in the city I came back to a bottle of nice champagne and sweets. I felt welcome. P.S.Cannot say about the breakfast as the full menu was the price of restaurant dinner and I chose to have breakfast outside the hotel every day.

The Convent Hotel Amsterdam - MGallery Collection: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Downgraded Room due to TV unavailable"

21st December 2012, Alex_Bkk_12, Bangkok, Thailand

I have booked a room (luxury room with King-Size bed) in the hotel as a member of Accor hotel (Sofitel, Novotel, Pullman...) and was disapointed to have to move to a lower grade room as the room issued had no TV connection. When my girlfriend and i enterred the room and unpacked the luggage, we found out the TV was not functional. After having someone to come investigate (time consuming and useless), we were offered to move to a different (similar grade room). After packing luggages and waiting in the corridor, we were told there was no more room available so we unpacked in the same room (without TV).Later (1h) we were told that we could move again to the same rate room so we packed again and once in the corridor to get the new keys, we were informed it was a downgrade.Even though the rpice was adjusted, it was a big disapointment as the reason to book this hotel was for the "luxury room with king-size bed".Overall bad experience with service. The position of the hotel on the other hand is very convenient and Amsterdam is a beautiful city.

The Convent Hotel Amsterdam - MGallery Collection: 3.0 out of 5 stars "A mixed bag. Wouldn't go back."

18th December 2012, journeytowhere, Wodonga, Australia

This hotel was a mixed bag. It was great value as we had a 50% off Accor deal. Reception was excellent and the location was an easy walk from the train station (probably about 1km so not right at the station). The room though was very old, dark and had wood panelling falling off (which was promptly fixed when we mentioned it). We had a three person room that had a full single bed extra rather than a fold away. The beds were strangely mounded up which made sleep uncomfortable as one rolled to the side. Our room was quiet.

The Convent Hotel Amsterdam - MGallery Collection: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Memorable Hotels By Accor?"

13th December 2012, SDG_Seoul, Seoul, South Korea

I've stayed in a few hotels that could be considered "memorable" but this particular hotel did not qualify as such. The staff, location and bed were all were great. The room had limited space to move around. This is a common trait in many older downtown Amsterdam hotels. The breakfast buffet had a rather limited offering for Euro 23.00 compared to other Accor Group hotels in Amsterdam. In general the stay was comfortable but did not offer value for money. In addition, shortly after I booked my room on line the rate went down by almost Euro 80. I was told I could have cancelled my original reservation and re book under the new rate. As an Accor Club gold card holder and a busy business traveller, I don't have the luxury of time to book, cancel and re book my hotel accommodations.
