"Constant renovations a drag"
19th March 2012, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
I have been to this hotel several times over the past two years. The staff are fantastic and the location (minutes from shopping, business and hockey) is ideal. However, the reception has been relocated three times as they very slowly renovate the place. Some of the sleeping areas have been renovated but the furniture and carpets in their rooms are starting to show their age. I come back because of the staff and location but the constant renovations make the decision to stay harder and harder each time. I would recommend this hotel but only if the price makes up for the shabby appearance.

Management responseDear Guest,Thank you for your honesty, as a regular client of ours, we sincerely appreciate your comments.I understand that the renovations may seem to take longer than expected, however the purpose was to completly renovate the area as fast as possible, to provide a better welcoming environment to our guests. We are presently on schedule, the lobby should be totally ready by the end of March. As for the carpet and furniture of certain rooms, we are working on those as well. As our property is very busy, the wear of certain piece of furniture and equipment is greater than usual. Finally, on behalf of the Novotel Montreal Centre, I would like to thank you for your loyalty and support during the renovations, and will certainly pass on your great comments about our personnel. We look forward to welcoming you back soon,Kind regardsXich-Vê

"Go Leafs Go"
7th March 2012, Toronto
My suggestions would be as follows:Replace and/or improve upon your pillows. Either they have passed their shelflife or are poor in quality. I had difficulty even with 3 under my head to get any support. I loved that you have a window that can be opened. The bathroom doors could stand to have handles also on the inside, so you can pull it closed. One thing that would have been fantastic would have been a night light of some sort in the bathroom, so you can find your way without keeping the bathroom light on all night, which is what we had to do. The staff was wonderful considering the construction in the lobby. I also suggest you monitor rooms that are supposed to be non smoking, as the room 614 had folks smoking with their window open and it conveniently made it's way into our open window. Love your location. Would have been nice if the hotel shovelled the snow away from the walkway and sidewalk in front of the hotel, so there wasn't a trail of super wet mats inside the hotel. Don't particularly like the sensored items in the room as something could get knocked over and then the customer is held responsible. Just some suggestions and I hope they help.

Management responseDear Guest,Thank you for sharing your comments and ideas to improve our hotel service, it is always encouraging to read constructive comments like yours.Your ideas have been forwarded to the appropriate department so they can look into it and bring improvements where we can.On behalf of the Novotel Montreal Centre Team, I apologize for the smoking smell you had to endure during your stay . Although we have a non-smoking policy in the majority of our sleeping rooms (we still have 5 that are smoking), some guests take upon themselves to smoke in non-smoking rooms . However, we charge the guests for the extra-cleaning we have to do.We hope to see you again, our lobby will be finished by the end of the month.Kind regardsXich-Vê

"Fair value but charged wi-fi is a negative point"
29th February 2012
Although the hotel's lobby was being refurbished, the reception could provide a good service. The downside here is that Novotel charges for internet usage while many hotels around the world does not do it anymore.

Management responseDear Guest,Thank you for sharing your comments about your recent trip, it is very encouraging to read positive feedback.Regarding the wi-fi , it is normally free in the lobby and in the restaurant. However, during our lobby upgrade, internet (wired or wireless) in the room is complimentary. If you were charged, I invite you to contact me personally so I can rectify the situation. You can find my coordinates on our website.Looking forward to welcoming again in our new environment,Xich-Vê

"Construction Zone"
19th February 2012, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
The whole reception area was a disgrace - an ugly, dirty construction zone. No advance warning given and zero compensation. The to be awakened at 4am by the horrible smell of someone smoking pot in a nearby room added to the disappointment

Management responseDear guest,Thank you for sharing your comments, we apologize for the inconvience and can assure you that your next experience will be totally different. The renovations became a necessity for our hotel to meet our guest’s expectations: the reception had been a subject of complaints as the area hadn’t been done in quite a few years, so we had to renovate it entirely to be up to date and maintain our high standards. The renovations will be finished in March 2012.As for the disturbance caused by the room next to you, we regret this incident.I remain at your disposal and hope to welcome you again soon,Xich-Vê HôDirector of Sales, Novotel Monteal Centre

"Good location, nice hotel, still under construction"
6th January 2012, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
This was a nice hotel, very conveniently located near the Bell Center. The staff was very friendly and helpful but the hotel is still under construction even though I was not expecting it to be.The doors in the bathroom were kind of weird to close and the room was not very sound proof - we could hear everything going on in the hallway since we were near the elevator. The staff however was very nice and very helpful and the room was spacious enough for 3 people.
"Great Value and Location"
15th August 2011, postaltiburon, Martinsburg, WV
We stayed for three nights, and the hotel met our needs quite well. The bed was quite comfortable, and the shower was great. The internet was difficult to connect to - make sure you ask the front desk at check-in for a password. We didn't use the restaurant, so I can't comment on the food at the Novotel. Overall, the hotel was perfectly suitable for us - it was in a great location, and a great value.
"Montreal"
12th August 2011, Branchburg
Loved it! Carpets in the rooms needed upgrading but other than that it was a great location and had good restaurants and Metro near by. Rooms were clean and the beds were so comfortable, but should have a few more pillows on the bed----3 just wasn't enough
"Montreal Get Away"
19th July 2011, Quebec
This hotel is in a great locatioon, just half a block from the main downtown street where shopping and restaurants abound. During our stay there was a music festival just one block from our place. The hotel is a short walking distance to two metro lines. The CAA is one block over and the Information Center//Gray Line Tours is just two blocks away. Car rentals are one block over too. I cannot say enough about the location. The hotel staff was very gracious. We arrived at 10:30 PM and were given excellent service by the front desk. The room was clean, and had a free safe. The quality of hotel amenities and room furnishings are more in ine with a 3 star, not 4 star rating similar to a Holiday Inn or Best Western.
"Mixed opinion"

Avoid the old not renovated room. Very disapointed. Mine was dirty and I had to claim very hard to have a renovated room.Very bad soundproofing.New room are fine with noce furniture. use only higher floor.
"Taken their eyes off the ball"
8th February 2011, martinbuckle@gmail.com
For some reason the decor in the hallways hasn't been finished which gives the hotel a somewhat rough look that it doesn't really merit. The food was good and the room was well designed. BUT our room wasn't cleaned on the second day - we mentioned this to reception and went out for dinner and came back to find that towels and coffee had been delivered but no toilet paper. When we mentioned this to reception we were told that the guy who made the delivery doesn't normally check rooms - so I guess that's okay then?????? Over all it's a good hotel, stayed there a few times before and will again but they seemed unsure what they were doing this time.
"Montreal Novotel"
23rd December 2010, Ottawa
This Hotel was to the standard i would expect at a Novotel.
"Wrong time"
3rd December 2010, JaconPhil, Bethesda
We were given a room on the floor where renovations are going on... So, after being waken up by the trash truck collecting for (I guess) the hotel and the YWCA at 5:30am, the crew started using their tools (drillers, nail guns... before 8:00am). I would not recommend the hotel right now...
