"Good, but could be so much better !"

I have been staying at this hotel on and off for the last 11yrs, and in all that time i have seen only 1 thing change, The Shore Bar is being renovated this year !I love this hotel, i just feel there is so much being missed out on.Location is great when driving from Bangkok, staff on the surface are very friendly, although not very helpful.This hotel claims to be a 4*. This hotel is 3* in my opinion. There is no kids club (although the website indicates an 'Indoor Children's Play Area' we did not find.The breakfast has very little on offer, but that said it costs only 412 Baht. Personally this is too little for a 4* hotel breakfast, the price should be increased and the quality and quantity of food increased to reflect the price...or lower your * rating and room rates accordingly.There are ZERO staff available around the 3 swimming pool areas. If you would like to spend your money on hotel food or beverages you must walk to a restaurant. They will serve to your poolside chair, but you must do the legwork. How much revenue is lost by the hotel from this alone ? People want to relax, chill, not go staff hunting to spend money.There is a pool bar in the upper pool, sunk into the pool with seating in the water, but in my 11yrs of visiting this hotel it has never once been open !?! Another waste of income for the hotel.Staff are very friendly, always start with a smile and friendly wai and are great...until you need them to do something ! From that point on you invariably feel let down by them, they seem to have a very 'Mai Bpen Lai' (never mind) attitude.Also, the treatment of an Accor advantage Plus card is handled differently at every outlet, every time i dined 2 adults and 2 children, my discount changed every time, some staff counting 2 children as 1 adult and offering 33% discount, some staff (correctly) excluding the children and offering 50%, the training on guests with this card seems lacking.Despite all of the above, i will continue to frequent this hotel because it offers a beach side venue, 2.5hrs drive from Bangkok geared up to families, but never at rack rate, i wait for 50% offers through Accor and pay what i feel is a fair price for whats on offer, for the rack rate to become fair then all of the above needs seriously addressing.I understand the senior management team has been changed here recently, and it is low season right now, so i'm hoping things will improve and we will finally see this hotel live up to the Novotel brand.View management response »

"Great hotel to relax for a couple of days"

Overall very satisfied with our stay. Good and big rooms and service, nice and quiet area, two swimming pools, SPA.There are two issues to consider however:1) Getting food is a trouble, especially if you expect Thai prices. There is only 1 restaurant nearby hotel, food quality is OK, but very overpriced. Nearest 7/11 is about 5 km from the hotel, nearest supermarket – about 12 km. Local transport is rare and not easy to get.2) Wifi in the hotel is SLOW and unstable. Not only in the room, but also at the lobby. It is extremely slow even by Thai standards.While the hotel management cannot obviously solve the problem with local food and 7/11, I believe Internet matter could and should be solved. "Novotel Rayong Rim Pae"

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful resort. All of the staff without exception went out of their way to make our time relaxed and refreshing. We were impressed by the choice of activites ranging from cycling to darts. One disappointing thing was that the aquarobics, napkin folding and flower arranging classes weren't operating - perhaps because it was low season? The a la carte food was delicious. The breakfast buffet was pricey and did not have as wide a range of food as we have had in other places. However there is a local restaurant across the road, which does a good breakfast for less than half of the price. The hotel provides a courtesy bus to Ban Pae twice a day, which is very helpful if you don't have a car. All in all a great place to be!View management response »

"The reception isnot well knowlegde"

I had booked 2 rooms for more than 1 month during the super sale-50%off. One is 1 single-bed and 2 twin bed. When I get to the hotel. The reception told me that I booked 2 rooms for 1 single bed and had fully-booking. I said that you were wrong and you had to read again. He asked me the reservation. I think he had the same reservation. I had to run to my car and get it. That time was about 5.00P.M. (I was so tried because I was driving 4.30 hrs from my hometown,Saraburi) I used to stay your hotel more than 7 nights and being the Adventage Plus member for more than 10 years. This hotel is one of a good hotel when compared with hotel services, quality of room and of course reasonable price. It valued to the money spent. However, some demolition of old restraurant annoyed us during staying.

Hotel is ok, nothing special, a lot of people - no possible to find a bed near swimming pool after 10 am(((, the bar in the small pool not working- it is bad.Reseption staff not friendly.No possible to find a printer!Breakfast was very poor((( (for 16 $)

This is my 2nd time staying in Novotel Rim Pae Resort Rayong. Last time, there was only 1 swimming pool near the main buidling. This time I found out there is one more swimming pool near the beach. The hotel is crowded with the foriegners.

I have been using Novotel Rayong hotel service more than10 years and hardly never disappointed until recently staying. Since we booked king sized room but it was not available when we checked in. the room booked for us was given to the other- that is the reason provided anyway, she upgraded us to the other room, which she thought that it is matched with initial need. It is twin bed with roof view-it is not better than our relevant expectation to " upgrade". Surprisingly, we fall down from broken leg chair- and we are a little hurt. ( why is chair repaired- especially leg). When we opened room curtain - handle stick ( equipped on curtain) fall down to our head- more than " surprise" - why this room has not been taken care well. We informed reception for disappointment and need to change but it seems hard and complicated if move us to the other room again. The coming guest would find difficulty like we were confronting ( the booked room is given to us). Therefore, we need to stay at that room but we asked for late check out (. actually we are not happy with that room at all). Anyway, the following day we again found some trouble with toilet ( not need to explain in detail) - it made us moody for whole day. This hotel needs improvement of profession in checking management and room quality. Keep promise to the guest is most important, and exceed the expectation is value added transfer to guest. This trip and staying is really disappointed.

the hotel is nice and the staff, at every level, is very efficient, professional and kind.the wifi connection, though, is really bad.we paid 1800 bath for a week and most of the time we could not access the internet from our room (we had to go on the stairs to check our e-mail).this could have been all right if the service was given for free, but since we paid for it we expected it to work a lot better.

Novotel Rim Pae Resort Rayong (in short Novotel Rayong) is an excellent hotel choice when visiting Rayong. Rayong is only 2:30 drive from Bangkok and Novotel Rayong offers a seclusive stay from the huzzling and buzzling lifestyle in Pattaya. Novotel Rayong prides itself in excellent service, facilities, and cleanliness. I was most impressed with the friendliness of all hotel staff - something a guest should always be able to expect but may not always receive. At Novotel Rayong, everyone from the reception staff to cleaning pool person was very respectful, friendly, and always looking for ways to please the hotel guests. Mr. Benjamin Dupont (executive assistant manager) was very warm and a perfect person to run this Thai resort. Novotel Rayong is a good organization for its employees and an excellent hotel choice for guests. I will return to Novotel Rayong in all future trips to Thailand.View management response »
