Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Arthur Frommer: 4.0 out of 5 stars "central-effective-friendly"

excellent stay for a business or leisure trip to Amsterdam. Friendly, clean, modern stylish, effective. Central in Amsterdam

Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Arthur Frommer: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Thank you for the perfect service"

30th April 2012, AChristianto, Sydney

Polite and fantastic service. Requested to make restaurant booking and the staff are very helpful giving out direction to reach the restaurant. Room is a bit compact, but very well laid out. Love the bathroom!! There is construction going on next door so bit noisy in the morning & afternoon. As others have said, late night guests that just arrived do make some noise with their luggages in front. Overall it was a satisfying stay and won't hesitate to comeback if I should go to Amsterdam again. Thank you !!!

Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Arthur Frommer: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent Stay"

Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Arthur Frommer: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good location & service"

11th April 2012, Kortrijk, Belgium

Despite smallish rooms, the Mercure hotel AF is centrally located and offers good customer service. Next to that, the hotel offers its guests nice breakfast and good facilities (e.g. rental bikes). Try the neighbouring restaurant "Fyra" for a superb meal.

Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Arthur Frommer: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Mercure Amsterdam"

12th March 2012, London, United Kingdom

Certainly not a bad hotel, did not realise it had no restaurant so had to go back out to eat. Rooms nice, clean and had some good character. The common areas certainly could do with a face lift but not essential to the stay.

Management responseDear guest, thank you for giving your personal opinion about the hotel. In our cosy bar we do have a small menu but if you want to have an extensive dinner we cannot serve you in the hotel. Off course our front office team knows all the best places in the city (on walking distance) to have dinner. You write that the common areas could do with a facelift. Could you please describe what you mean with this? The hotel had a total renovation 2 1/2 years ago so I am curious what you mean with this. Kind regards,Willem Bleuland van Oordt

Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Arthur Frommer: 4.0 out of 5 stars "I AMSTERDAM"

27th February 2012, Santo Andre, Brazil

Friendly reception, very clean, nice foniture - Locattion very good - As all other hotels on ACCOR net, breakfast extremelly expensive, should never charge internet access nor parking. Except for the above, It[s an excelet option in Amstaerdam

Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Arthur Frommer: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great location"

25th February 2012, Seattle, Washington, USA

Great value within walking distance of sights, museums, restaurants, shopping, train station. Very quiet at night. Comfortable, very clean and stylish rooms. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Free wifi and use of computer & printer. Moderate sized standard rooms are just fine for most who require adequate space for sleeping. If you need jumbo sized space for some reason, go with the premium rooms.

Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Arthur Frommer: 4.0 out of 5 stars "No more Yoghurt tubs at breakfast"

21st February 2012, Brussels, Belgium

I travel extensively and I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past 6 months. It is always good. Last week someone took what appears to be a cost saving initiative and stopped serving the usual little yoghurt tubs of all flavours at breakfast. It seems there are only two big bowls of mystery yoghurt now. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth (the initiative that is, not the yoghurt) and I think the decision should be re-considered. One of the pleasures of staying in a hotel as a business traveller is this change at the Mercure Arthur Frommer has removed a bit of that enjoyment.

Management responseDear guest, thank you for your review. I know that you stay often in our hotel and off course I am very happy with this. You write that you miss the little yoghurt tubs at the breakfast. The reason that we do not serve this anymore is not a cost saving initiative. As you may know the hotel has a Greenkey certificate. One of the consequences is that we are not allowed to serve any mono items in the breakfast. The small tubs gave to much (plastic) garbage so we decided to replace them by 2 big bowls of yoghurt. This new yoghurt is biological while the old yoghurt wasn't.I understand that from your point of view you liked all the small tubs, but I hope you also understand that the reason we do not serve this any more is not for cost saving. Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Arthur Frommer: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Comfortable and Easy access"

7th February 2012, Kazem G, Tehran, Iran

We have a regular trip to Amsterdam and Mercure Artur Former is an excellent place for us.The service is acceptable and the crew is friendly. The room is comfortable and because of the cold weather at this season, it may equipped with double layer windows to have better condition at the room.

View management response »

Management responseDear guest, thank you for your positive feedback. With this cold period in Amsterdam we can save more energy with double layer windows. Unfortunately we are not allowed to do this because the hotel is situated in a monumental building.Currently we are looking for other possibilities.Kind regards,Willem Bleuland van Oordt

Hotel was nice but I was realy angry when I finf out that I have to pay for a bath robe and slippers and after useing one I have to return them . I was wondering how many people used this sllipers before me? That was realy discusting!!!!!

View management response »

Management responseDear guest, thank you for your review. I understand that you were very surprized to hear that you had to return the slippers. However, this is not the procedure in the hotel and you where given the wrong information. Our guest may always take the slippers with them after check out and we never use them again. the slippers are always new and packed. The bathrobes are property of the hotel and we wash them every day.I hope this information is sufficient to you. If you still want your pair of slippers we can send it to you. Please send your adressdetails to the e-mailadress of the hotel.Kind regards,Willem Bleuland van Oordt

Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Arthur Frommer: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent value close to the centre of town"

26th January 2012, Melbourne, Australia

We were very happy with Mercure Amsterdam Arthur Frommer. The room was not huge but was definitely spacious enough, the bathroom was modern and well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is in a good position in a quiet street, just a short walk to the centre of the city and close to many museums. We thought the breakfast was far too expensive so we walked to a nearby cafe where there was good food at a good price. Would definitely recommend to others.

Had a great week end. Nice room, rented some nice bycicles, close enough to the places to seem the restaurants to go to. Staff was helpful with all requests. Would advice to anyone. In the canals area but not in the overly busy canals
