"Bijoux"
9th March 2013, salsatravellers5864, Poulton Le Fylde, United Kingdom
Staff friendly and accommodating. Bedroom bijoux and the door closers didn't have any accoustic or other compressible seal so unfortunately through the night when late revellers were coming back to their rooms the doors slammed shut. Very disturbed nights sleep. The breakfast was good, offering cereals, cold meats, cheese, fruit, egg and bacon, various breads, croissants, jams and pastries. Located on good tram route into centre of Amsterdam.

"Very Nice Hotel"
4th March 2013, Illzach
Mercure Amsterdam Arthur Frommer is a very nice hotel, with a great situation downtown.Welcoming is very pleasant, comfort is very good.Only a bad note regarding the price of the parking lot of the hotel (45€ for the night !)This price has never been communicated when I booked the room by internet... what a bad surprise...

"Small room"
6th November 2012
Good location. Walk about 20 minutes to reach the main attractions of the city. Small rooms, clean and quiet, despite being on the first floor and the window facing the street. Breakfast was disappointing. The hotel has limited parking spaces and extremely expensive.

"Good Place To Stay"
4th November 2012, TimRannMirfield, Mirfield
Hotel was very good with service, cleanliness and room excellent. Thought breakfast was expensive but plenty of choice elsewhere in the city. Located in a built-up but pleasant area. There are works being undertaken close to the hotel but they did not bother us as we were out all day. Easily accessible from the station by tram and a walk of about 200 meters. A good restaurant, Piet de Leeuw within 100 meters and easily accessible to other good bars and restaurants. Nicely out of the city centre, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Lovely hotel in canal loop"
22nd October 2012, Carol151, Glasgow, United Kingdom
Friendly welcome (arrived late at night), room quite small but perfectly appointed with lovely bathroom. Very clean and bright breakfast room with helpful and pleasant staff. Nice courtyard entrance, quiet area (except for building works in street, but obviously won't go on forever.) Only 10 mins walk from museums and Heineken Experience, half and hour from Dam Square. Tram stops nearby. Street runs parallel to canal so very picturesque for walking and sightseeing. Would definitely stay in this hotel again.

"Great service and rooms for our honeymoon"
2nd October 2012, dickonlove, Bromley, United Kingdom
Faultless. After a hassling trip to Amsterdam, we were met with such friendliness and helpfulness. The rooms were very clean (and my husband is used to doing room spot checks) and the bed comfortable. It was an easy and pleasant 10min walk to the centre of Amsterdam.

"fine location in the city"
13th September 2012, PPalko, Arnhem,
Great location, downtown Amsterdam is only a walk away. Received an upgrade on arrival without asking. Room was spacious, bathroom clean and efficient. Parking on site - don't try to leave your car on the street, parking fees are sky high.

"Great hotel"
12th September 2012, Susanne333, Adelaide, Australia
Excellent location. Staff very helpful and polite. Free tea and coffee facilities in room is highly recommended.Breakfast room very bright, clean and loved the white and blue decor. Needs to have a toaster, as English and Australians like toasted bread. Would definately stay here again

"Nice and quiet"
5th September 2012, John123471, Helsinki, Finland
Nice hotel in a quiet neighbourhood, clean rooms, some tram stops from the city centre, easy access with tram (16 and 24) from Central Station, also within walking distance from the city and the museums (Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum).

"Superb Location but a bit too noisy"
5th September 2012, nkorourke, Jakarta
This hotel is perfectly located, easy access to the tram stops, Cafes, shops and all. The staff is super friendly. the only thing was, I upgraded to a privilege room and they put me to the room outside the main building next to the street. During our stay, we can hear everything whats going on outside, especially in the early morning when you still want to rest a bit more. Other than that I highly recommend this spot. "Quiet location, beware the building noise from next door"
1st September 2012, robertpage, Bristol, United Kingdom
Ideally quiet location in this hectic city, positioned a short walk from all the action.Friendly efficient and attentive front desk and breakfast room staff, homely bar with equally attentive service. We booked a twin room and a Privelege room - the twin room was pretty much as expected, although the lack of tea & coffee making facilities seemed a little petty given the price of the room. The Privelege room was something of an anti-climax, with our wardrobe being much smaller than that of the twin room, one of the lights did not work - we were also allocated twin beds which was disappointing. The additional cost of the room only really appears to give you some tea & coffee making items and a bottle of water ?The real issue currently is the extensive renovation work that is taking place to the adjacent buildings - skip delivery, filling and the incessant use of drills and jack-hammers from 7.30am is not condusive to a relaxing stay.Appreciate that this is out of the hotels control but travellers should be made aware when booking at this hotel.Breakfast was of a good quality and plentiful in respect of choice

"beautifully designed room"
16th August 2012, syjeong, Columbia, Maryland, USA
I stayed in more than 100 cities in the world, but the parking charge in this hotel was most expensive. I can understand the space problem in Amsterdam, but 45 Euro per night was too much. Besides of that, I was satisfied with hotel room, the location and breakfast a lot. The color of carpet, the tiles in bathroom made us very delightful.

Management responseThank you for sharing your kind remarks on our hotel with us ! Indeed, parking space is very rare in Amsterdam and therefore very expensive.Francis A. Windt, General Manager, Mercure Amsterdam Arthur Frommer

"Quiet location in the city"
8th August 2012, Canberra
The hotel is located in a quiet area, which is very good when you try to get some sleep after traveling all day long. On the other hand, the location can be difficult to find at first. I took a taxi to get me to the hotel. After knowing the exact location of the hotel, I learnt that from the Amsterdam Central Station, you have to take a tram and then walk for another 2 blocks. I got a room on the third floor and it was quite small. But it was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. Overall, the hotel is good and clean.

"A Jewel of a Hotel"
2nd August 2012, Zitara, Brussels, Illinois, USA
After a 20 Euro cab ride from the Central train station, I checked into the hotel. The room was pleasantly appointed with huge fluffy pillows and not a lot of room around the bed. Luckily, I sleep in the middle. The shower and bath were spacious, modern, clean and beautifully tiled. Ten minutes to the city center from the tram stop a five minute walk away. I usually avoid hotel breakfasts but the breakfast was fantastic with fresh squeezed orange juice, scrambled eggs and bacon, and a wonderful assortment of cold meats, pastries and bread. The bar is comfortable and the guests convivial. I plan to stay there on my next visit to Amsterdam and will recommend it to my friends.

"close to Leidseplein, but still a quiet side street"
29th May 2012, misterchaps, Leeds, United Kingdom
I often stay nearer the centre but chose this as a little cheaper than my usual hotel although I still find Amsterdam quite pricey in general.Hotel was nice, easy to get to and quiet. Breakfast was so so for the price although the juice machine was good.

Room a little small but adequate for a short stay.Friendly staff, good area and convenient location, good restaurants a short walk away
"Thank you for the perfect service"
30th April 2012, AChristianto, Sydney
Polite and fantastic service. Requested to make restaurant booking and the staff are very helpful giving out direction to reach the restaurant. Room is a bit compact, but very well laid out. Love the bathroom!! There is construction going on next door so bit noisy in the morning & afternoon. As others have said, late night guests that just arrived do make some noise with their luggages in front. Overall it was a satisfying stay and won't hesitate to comeback if I should go to Amsterdam again. Thank you !!!
