ibis Aachen Marschiertor (Aix-la-Chapelle): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Overbooked"

4th May 2012, NaL0, London, United Kingdom

The hotel was overbooked and we were forced to stay in a smokers room. I don't have to tell any none-smoker, that that is disgusting. The room smelled of cold smoke and we had to sleep with the window open all night. I had booked the hotel several weeks in advance and will not book at the Ibis again. Smoker rooms are unacceptable for non-smokers.

ibis Aachen Marschiertor (Aix-la-Chapelle): 5.0 out of 5 stars "Best Ibis we have ever used"

30th March 2012, Deal

We often use Ibis hotels in various locations in western Europe, and this is the best we have ever used. It was easy to find and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The rooms are the biggest we have ever had in an Ibis. They were clean and well-maintained and the lift worked well. The car park was convenient and good value. The Hbf is nearby. It would have been good if the hotel were a little closer to the city centre but at 10 minutes walk this is not a major issue.

ibis Aachen Marschiertor (Aix-la-Chapelle): 5.0 out of 5 stars "Nice stay"

10th March 2012

Stayed at the Hotel with friends for 2 nights. The rooms were good value, the food and drinks slightly less so with .5l of beer costing 4.5euros. Breakfast was expensive at 10 Euros. However Aachen is fairly expensive place to eat and drink. Location was good and staff were very helpful. Any request was dealt with helpfully.

ibis Aachen Marschiertor (Aix-la-Chapelle): 2.0 out of 5 stars "Rude reception, hot rooms, no airconditioning and generally poor"

4th September 2011, remoh, st albans herts uk

1) Room was not airconditioned, room was very hot2) Asked reception for FAN, was told they dont have fans and "the weather is not their fault". Unable or unwilling to help, other hotels have fans, not this one.3) Reception guy obviously thought he was being funny by telling me that he couldnt change the weather, obviously not, I'm a paying guest and customer. Attempted to invoke their 15 minute satisfaction guarantee, was told by reception that "the weather is not our fault" and that it didnt apply..4) Cancelled room for last night of stay, didnt want to stay there anymore and put up with the traffic noise from the road which we had to endure which was quite bad from 5am onwards.5) Breakfast pretty poor to be honest, scrambled egg was cold, food quality not that great, definately not worth the money.I know in Germany there is a level of directness, but this wasnt directness, this was just rude service and a we dont care about our customer type attitude. Inexcusable. Manners and politeness cost nothing

ibis Aachen Marschiertor (Aix-la-Chapelle): 5.0 out of 5 stars "Ibis Marschiertor Aachen"

2nd September 2011, huntingdon

excellent location, not far from the city centre - about 10 minute walk in a quiet location. Secure car park a bonus. The rooms are clean and have very comfortable beds. The shower is very good, loads of hot water. Breakfast seems dear at 10 euros but don't be fooled into eating in town - the same breakfast will cost much more. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

ibis Aachen Marschiertor (Aix-la-Chapelle): 5.0 out of 5 stars "Convenient Hotel with excellent restaurant"

8th August 2011, Mansfield

This is not our first stay at this hotel. Arriving mid afternoon we were able to explore Aachan, something which we haven't done previously. The quality of the food in the restaurant is excellent as is the chioce at breakfast. The service from the staff was friendly and efficient. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

ibis Aachen Marschiertor (Aix-la-Chapelle): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Very nice place"

29th June 2011, Oxford

Hotel in a very good location. five minutes to hauptbahnhof and 10 minutes to city center.there is a computer in the lobby with free internet, wich is very usefull for city searches. i didnt had breakfast, so I cant say anything about it. Its a normal Ibis. very nice!

ibis Aachen Marschiertor (Aix-la-Chapelle): 4.0 out of 5 stars "smoking / nonsmoking rooms"

29th June 2011, Lille

I did not appreciate that we were not informed that the room we booked was a smoking one. Finally we could have changed it, only because we were travelling with our baby. But still, I found it unfair not to inform the clients prior.

ibis Aachen Marschiertor (Aix-la-Chapelle): 3.0 out of 5 stars "clean and tidy - good value"

28th May 2011, london

myself and some friends stayed for a couple of nights,on the whole a reasonable hotel, food and drink ok - staff are very pleasant, rooms perhaps a little dated but clean and tidy and would definately, and planning to, stay again

ibis Aachen Marschiertor (Aix-la-Chapelle): 4.0 out of 5 stars "aachen Ibis review"

9th December 2010, Madurai

The internet connection was poor. Some times it did not work and the M3 connect was not able to help much although they explained all the possibilities. The receptionist did not tell upfront about the 24 hours package would cost only euros 3 if packed along with breakfast as a business package. we had to probe to get these details. This happened last time when I visited them around second week of September. It did not happen during the last stay.
