This was our second stay here and overall a good experience.Easy walking distance to york centre Only down side previous occupant of room had obviously been smoking. This was quickly dealt with by staff who offerred change of room or clean by deodourising machine which proved acceptable. Food & facilities to a very acceptable standard. No hesitation in recommending to others. Will use again.

"Great service - shame about the pool"
17th April 2012, ThatsMrTtoyou, Chester, United Kingdom
Have stayed at this hotel numerous times. The pool area has been revamped to provide changing room and shower, which is an improvement, however the floor area is always very wet, with little apparent drainage, and because resifents will wear outdoor shoes through the area it can get dirty. The pool water on this occasion was very murky, and had a strange odour, which was a little off putting. We ate our meal in the bar, and the quality of food, and service was excellent, last two stays the evening bar staff have really been very good. Made a point of tipping the member of staff and thanking her.

"Another great stay at Novotel York"
13th April 2012, daleslassies, Richmond, United Kingdom
We have stayed here before as we find as a family with girls aged 12 and 7 that the hotel suits us well. It is very family friendly and great to have use of the swimming pool. We had dinner, bed and breakfast - the restaurant food is very good, with no extra charge for children on our tariff. Breakfast is buffet style with much choice and dishes regularly topped up. There are games and consoles for the children to use in the reception area and usually colouring activities for younger children to help themselves to. A short 5 minute walk and you are into the centre of the city. The staff are polite, friendly, helpful and cannot do enough for you. We well recommend this hotel for families.

"Good hotel, they need to work on quality of service and atmosphere"
12th April 2012
We stayed in Novotel York for the Easter break. We travelled with children under 5 and friends with young children.. The hotel is in a good location, quiet and accessible for city centre. The breakfast was a good mix of english and continental catering for a variety of tastes. Had dinner in the restaurant: good food but complete lack of atmosphere, no music in the background, the food was late and the waiters practically jumping on your table the moment your cutlery was down. Overall was a good experience! With a bit more attention to detail and customer care they could be better than average.

"Novotel-York"
27th March 2012, Hexham, United Kingdom
Having never driven into York before the hotel was easy to find using directions given on the website, though once we had parked the car it was great to be able to walk along the riverbank directly into the city centre.Checking in and out was very efficient and the staff welcoming. I particularly liked to phone call we got minutes after entering our room to check everything was OK.We didn't eat in the hotel or use the bar so can't comment on that but the facilities looked fine and we probably would of used them if t had fitted into our plans.I did use the small swimming pool (had it all to myself for half an hour) which was perfectly adequate. Changing rooms and shower were clean and there were plenty of towels.

"Capita Conference"
16th March 2012, Bolton, United Kingdom
I found the staff to be not the best in terms of customer service, and it was more service with a grump than service with a smile. I had a room with free broadband, my word I have never been in a hotel with such slow broadband, which was almost unusable. I like to catch up on emails and also maybe stream tv. The bed was comfortable and a nice basic pool for a swim, although there is no signs showing you how to get into the pool and its through the mystery white door. The bathroom shower was nice although the loo was a bit dated, the bed was comfortable and a quiet location although a bit out of York.

"Too many kids"
23rd February 2012, maureen029, Liverpool, United Kingdom
Nice hotel, very modern with decent facilities but they they tend to target families alot and we stayed at half term so the reception and bar looked more like a creche, noisy and full so we didnt get an opportunity to sample the food or bar so can't comment. On the plus side liked the pool, the car parking fee was reasonable (£7 per day) and the rooms were nice. But note that the the hotel is a good 10-15 minute walk from the pubs and main shopping area so I personally wouldnt stay here again unless there was a really cheap deal offered.

Management responseGood morning and thank you for your feedback. It is true we do get busy with family during half terms and I am sorry to read you could not appreciate all the facilities due to the sheer volume of customers present. Ihope you will however give us another chance to really appreciate our offerings. With kind regards,Christophe Ughetto

"WHAT HAPPENED TO GOOD FOOD"
11th February 2012, rodneywebb, Trearddur Bay
I am an A/club gold member and stay with Accor often.I stay at this hotel two / three times per year. The reception staff are always good, the rooms are good but then - the bar / lounge area always has sky sports blasting out, if you want a quite drink before your meal no chance. Then the resturant on this time, the starter was Brioche with Wild Mushrooms, the waiter is bringing it to the table half the Brioche falls on the floor so he brings what he has and collects the rest off the floor on his way back to the kitchen and thinks he never saw that ! The main course Lamb and Leek pudding - I was surprised I was given a steak knife before it came but when it did I needed a saw to cut the pudding. Please please can Accor hotels in the Uk learn to cook. Last summer I spent five weeks travelling in France and stayed every night in Accor Hotels not one bad meal. So far in the last few months I have spent six nights in Accor Hotels and only one reasonable meal. Can Accor say why ? French hotels are more interested in service and satisfaction.

"Barred"
16th January 2012, Nottingham, United Kingdom
Since my last stay the appearance of the bar/lobby area has deteriorated. Most of the metalic effect vinyl coverings on the furniture have de-laminated exposing the fabric backing. This lets down the overall look of the area.Evening power failures at the hotel, (Not the surrounding area), caused some disruption and suspension of services offered.
