Hotel is modern and a little bt far from the city. Has nice overviews of the water. The cleaning is not their best point, as the socks of the previous client were still in my basket. This is disgusting. When I complained at the reception, they found is also not ok, but that was it No compensation offered.
Dear Manuel G, Thank you for your response. Excuse us for not emptying the waste bin in your room. This should not be possible, but our routines failed this day. I can assure you that we work hard to prevent this from occuring again. Our cleaning normally gets high scores, as you can see in reviews from other guests. We will keep it this way and hopefully see you on your next trip to Göteborg. With best regards
The Novotel Goteburg is a little way out of the city centre near to the docks in a converted brewery. Despite that, it is easy to get to from the city by public transport using trams 3 or 9 taking about 20 minutes but you may want to select something else if you want to be in the actual city. The lobby is large and well designed and the staff are friendly and helpful. I think your opinion of the rooms may depend on which one you get. They are modern and well designed and the bathroom is nice. I got one facing the water which was a plus, but the windows were small and at an awkward position so there wasn't as much natural light as I would have liked and I had to duck to see out of them. The beds were comfortable and I slept well and the bathroom was also excellent with a good powerful shower. Laptop safes and free water was provided. Breakfast was included in my room rate and this was a buffet served in the restaurant with a wide selection of choices.
Okay, it's impressively located at the harbourfront and in the shadow of the Big Bridge, but it's way out of the centre. I guess perfect when travelling on, but then one wouldn;t go so far into Gothenburg. Fine rooms, and all is Novotell quality, but could we move more towards the centre please :-)?
I just stayed here and the hotel went from one of my highest ranking hotel in Europe to the third from bottom. Why? Because when I left my breakfast and came down to the ground floor one of the receptionists was talking to the cleaning lady who was vacuum the floor and when done around the table just lifted it up and continued on the table with the vacuum cleaner. Once I told the receptionist she said she had not seen anything. That made me lose the faith and hope of the hotel if you deny a wrong doing it gets worse in my view. In addition to that my water kettle for boiling water was leaking all over the electrical chords and it took some time to get a new one even if I first was told it would be up in a few minutes.
Dear Katarina, We remember the day you think you saw something strange happen in our lobby. You did not. We remember it because you were very loud and upset. This is your second review you are writing for TripAdvisor. The first hotel did also receive the score one and your headline “Horrible cheater”. Not so balanced, so whom are you writing for? By the way, the very reliable person that vacuumed the special lobby table had removed the brush, but kept the long extension tube on, to save her back. She has taken your accusation hard.
I'm a great Novotel fan. The only Swedish one in this chain is perhaps not as fresh as many newly built/renovated Novotels I stayed at in Europe, but I find nothing to cause complaints. We were to begin with not given the superior room we had booked, but the mistake was swiftly corrected by the service minded staff.
Despite to Hotel is located in the surroundings of Goteborg,It is a nice place in front of the decks. If you have a room that faces the sea, you will enjoy of a wonderful view. Wide room and friendly service. When I went to the restaurant, it unfortunately was busy. But, the staff did the best to sort out the situation satisfactory for me.
This Novotel is set on Klippan, a redeveloped historic dockside and warehouse district at a short distance along the waterside from central Gotenborg. The theme of the area is the Carnegie brewery which previously occupied this site. There are a few bars, an art centre and the most prestigious restaurant offering new Scandic cuisine in the area. You can stroll and watch people or the boats come and go including the Stena ferry. I had a superior room on a higher floor overlooking the harbour. It was spacious with a sofa and table, opening windows, a comfortable bed, and a superb bathroom, worth the extra charge. Minibar prices were not ridiculous. The breakfast room is well laid out with harbour views, big coffee cups and hot milk, and a good choice of hot and cold items on the buffet. Amongst other things I hadn't seen elsewhere were blueberry juice, pancakes with jam and cream, and a special section for gluten-free foods. The central atrium of the hotel has a comfortable seating area, a balcony seating area on the third floor, and a set of computers for use in the lobby. Wifi was excellent and fast in my room and parking is free. There are bicycles available for guests to rent. I cannot praise the reception staff and barman highly enough. Though we seldom heard English spoken anywhere during our visit the reception staff were excellent speakers. A slight concern I had from reading previous reviews was that the hotel is too far to walk to the central area. However visitors have a choice of cycling along a waterside path, taking the ferry (3 stops) or the tram. We chose the tram, a fast and frequent service even on Sundays taking around 10mins to reach Haga, a few more for the main shopping area. It turned out to be no problem at all. The receptionist annotated a tram map for us with the lines and stops to use, the tram numbers and the destination boards to look for on the journey out and back, and even worked out for us whether it would be quicker using tram or boat at that particular time. The nearest tram stop is a short walk away, the path passes under the main road and has an art project that produces music as you walk through. You can buy 24hour or 3 day tram passes from reception which are very easy to use.
The views are magnificent, taking in the entrance to Gothenburg harbour and the Älvsborg bridge in the foreground. For two centuries the old brick building was the Carnegie Porter Brewery. Big, professional, but still with a cosy atmosphere. All facilities at hand. Well suited for holiday, business, conferences, birthdays any occasion that needs the perfect setting. Whatever I write will only be an affirmation of the description on hotel's website. Enjoy! I did. Novotel's style tastefully furnished rooms. Parking.
Average hotel, a little bit below other Accor Novotels. During my first night the cleaning service simply ignored the cleaning and did not do the service. With a baby in the room, dirty diapers in the baskets it is possible to imagine the unpleasant environment created by the cleaning staff. On the other hand the breakfast is excelent, a wide variety of breads and food.
The Gothenburg Novotel is perhaps not the best solution for those willing to visit the city, being located a few miles away from the city center, but it could be recommended for those who want to explore the noteworthy countryside and coast. The Novotel is in a former industrial district now transformed into a residential area. The building itself gives the hotel a specific, and in my opinion pleasing flavour. Receptionists were efficient and helpful in both check-in / check-out procedures. We visited the hotel during a weekend in August, so the entire building was crowded with Swedish families with children; moreover, a wedding feast was taking place in the lobby and in conference halls; nevertheless, the sleep quality was not affected at all by this sort of ordered chaos. Rooms were just as like as one could expect from a Novotel. Among hotel's pros: good breakfast; good à la carte dinner in the restaurant terrace facing the sea. Among cons: slightly outdated bathrooms, with just the basic toiletries; slow and rather unstable WiFi connection. Parking is available free of charge in a public, unguarded area.
