Al Hamra Hotel Managed by Pullman: 4.0 out of 5 stars "good hotel, service could be improved"

14th May 2012, egcostop, Riyadh

Good hotel overall. Well situated, cleasn and with nice rooms but service by staff a bit slow and not all front-desk staff was fluent in English. Business Center printer was out of service and I could not find anyone to fix it.

Al Hamra Hotel Managed by Pullman: 2.0 out of 5 stars "First time to Jeddah on business"

25th April 2012, BizTravel_academic, Geneva, Switzerland

As a westernized woman, I knew that Saudi Arabia may not be the easiest place to conduct business. However, I assumed that in the hospitality sector, the customer was valued despite his or her sex. I was wrong when I arrived in Jeddah. I ordered a driver service for my colleagues and myself. We could not find the driver, and we ended up paying SAR100 for a trip that should have cost SAR80. Then, I attempted to check into my room. I specifically asked for a non-smoking room, but I was given a smoking room. I was not happy, but fortunately, the hotel changed my room immediately. (The only change was that my husband confronted the management, and they responded to his requests.) I then had to inform the concierge's that my colleague, who was to arrive on a later plane, has changed his itinerary. The concierge was rude and told me that I would be charged since I had to give them 24 hours in advance. Actually, when I told him, he had 30 hours notice, so his argument was not even valid. I informed me of this fact, and he did not even apologize for his rudeness. Regarding internet access, while they advertise that it is free, it is quite difficult to obtain. I called the receptionist to bring the code to my room, and after two hours of waiting, I went downstairs. They did not offer any apologize or explanation why they did not bring it to me. My colleagues could not even access the internet during their entire stay despite the use of different codes. For breakfast, we arrived exactly at 1000 (breakfast is served from 0600-1000), and they told us that we were too late for breakfast. We thought that the breakfast was served until 1100, and then we asked if we could still have coffee since the room was full of people still eating. Strangely enough, they charged us for the coffee. The room was not what I expected. The hot water handle of the bathtub was missing, and with the sign of the rust, it has been missing for quite some time. There was mildew encasing the bathtub to make matters worse. And, for a double occupancy room, we were only provided one bath towel. At least the AC was working, and we did not share the room with any critters that I saw...The last "memorable" experience was trying to order a taxi to take us to the airport at 0645. The first taxi did not have seat belts and since neither my husband or I speak Arabic, we asked the hotel to assist us. Luckily, the man on duty was helpful and arranged for another driver.

Al Hamra Hotel Managed by Pullman: 1.0 out of 5 stars "Not Good at All"

17th March 2012, Dubai

I recently stayed at this hotel in Jeddah and not only did they not have my room ready they gave me the wrong room when it was. The service in this hotel was the worst that I have had in this class of star rating. This hotel would be lucky if it got 2 stars. This is way overrated hotel and would only stay there again if it was the only hotel left standing in Jeddah.

Al Hamra Hotel Managed by Pullman: 3.0 out of 5 stars "A place to sleep"

2nd March 2012

Old, no parking spaces, no valet parking, the staff don't know how to smile, but still one of the best ( with almost a reasonable price ) in Jeddah. I have stayed in Pullman Mall of the Emirates, Dubai and the difference is huge.

Al Hamra Hotel Managed by Pullman: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Jeddah"

13th February 2012, Paris, France

Bit old but value for money, comfortable stay and friendly front desk. Good for business travel. Would recomend for business travellers, the bed was nice and comfy but room service quality of food was pretty average for the price, even the resturatnts were pretty expensive for the level of service, decor and food,Room no complains, housekeeping pretty good.

Al Hamra Hotel Managed by Pullman: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Average hotel"

8th January 2012, Enfield

The hotel was categorized as 5-star hotel which is totally not true. The furniture and carpet are very old. Very bad smell in the hallways of the fourth floor.Internet service is poor! It took the reception more than one hour to provide me with a user-name and password after several calls.

Al Hamra Hotel Managed by Pullman: 3.0 out of 5 stars "In need of some TLC, and staff training"

29th June 2011, CArlisle

I stayed at the Sofitel in June 2011, the purpose of the trip being business. The hotel although 5 star leaves a lot to be desired, in both service and the standard of the decor and food.I stayed in an apartment room, which had two bedrooms, a bathroom seperate WC and a living room. The room was in desperate need of an overhaul, the fixtures and fitings were very old, to the point where the fitings in the bathrom were rusting in places. The rooms were clean, and overall the housekeeping staff were the most helpful I encountered. We are only one night in the restaurant, due to the poor quality of the food. Firstlt our order was taken wrong, then when the food turned up it was cold and overcooked, breakfast was marginally better, and is buffet style.Front desk left a lot to be desired, each time I spoke to a local working behind the desk, they efered me to a collegue, ussually from India. This would appear to be because I disturbed their sesion of what ever game they were playing on their mobile phine, or friends they were texting.I had a couple of issues, and on each occasion a promise wa made to call me back, this never happened and I had to chase to get anything done. The leisure facilities, were very good from a gym point of view, the pool was fine, but again the fence around the pool was rusty and flaking paint, and should be replaced.I guess most people from outside Saudi reading this will be on business, there are much better options in Jeddah for the same money.
