Fine value for money, clean and comfortable but it is a good 15 to 20 minute walk from the train station. My daughter knows quite a bit of French, so we were able to manage but I do think that the staff know some basic English enough to be able to help a foreigner. For the most part, staff were smiling. Take the Maine avenue to get to the hotel because it is a lot straighter and wide sidewalks better suited to walking with luggage. The hotel is located at the bottom end of Rue de Chalet so the distance is not much greater.
The room was very small, but we were always kindly treated, even though we don't speak ant french. The hotel was localized in a safe region, we used to be back late in the night and never had any problem.
Cher Client, Je vous remercie de votre commentaire. Votre satisfaction est la meilleure des récompenses pour toute l'équipe de l'hôtel Ibis Maine Montparnasse. A très bientôt. Cordialement, Pascal Gurgui Directeur
We were in Paris for 10 days and enjoyed the city and location of the hotel. Many places to pick from for dinner and very nice people in the area of the hotel. Ibis has amazing hotels that are nice at which I have stayed in many across Europe. Sadly I felt I had to write my first ever poor review because of the staff and the hotel being way to warm even with windows open 24 hours per day. Now the down side of the hotel. First if its going to be warm in Paris make sure they have there AC turned on at this Hotel. We did request to have our room AC turned on when it was 86F/30C outside but was told "We cant just turn on one room for one couple" which made nights very long and very hot! To help we had to sleep with our hotel room door OPEN which didn't make us feel safe; as we spent most nights lying in our own sweet. They also have signs in the hotel saying there bar/drink area is open 24 hours per day, but found out this isn't true. Tried getting just some Hot water at 8:30PM for a cup of coffee in our room and yelled at because there was only two guest in the hotel and he shouldn't have to cleanup for one guess. I do understand people have bad days, but don't take it out on your clients!!! At the end after and only after I insisted I got our two cups of hot water. Over all we only found one person at the front desk to be helpful about anything. We will NOT be staying at this hotel location AGAIN!! However I will still stay at other trusted Ibis hotels but not this one.

I've stayed in Ibis hotels in several countries and I like the fact that they are cheap and have a standard quality everywhere (very simple design, small rooms but they are always well cleaned and everything works ok). This hotel was well located in Paris with good metro connections, it was calm, had free wi-fi and nice staff members. The only minus points were that there was only one plug in the room and the only trash can was in the bathroom. I would recommend this hotel for those who appreciate standard quality and who don't wish to encounter any surprises (good or bad) when it comes to accommodation!
Rooms are very small, but it is okay for being in Paris. However, the very bad experience is with the reception staff. On the first day we arrived, they gave us a very small room on the top floor with small window. We came to the reception and asked to change another room. They refused our request because of "the hotel is fully booked". However, there are still guests not checked in and why should we stay in such a small and stuff air room? we told the reception staff (a old man with not friendly face) so. He insisted it is not possible to change the room, and after about 5 minutes argument, finally, he agreed to change us another room. The staff is quite rude and not patient to answer our questions- I think because we are not Paris enough?! but we pay for what you live on, please show some respects!
ATTENTION!!! I've booked 4 nights at this hotel last month and we're very disappointed... our values (I.D. cards, passports, credit cards, cash money) was STOLEN from our room (266) in the last morning. The attitude of manager and his employees was awful. From my point of view was someone from interior or the staff were knew what is happened in the hotel. Is not possible to go for breakfast and in about 20-30 minutes, somebody enter in our room, (266 ), which was situated at the last floor, 6, and robed our stuff.
Located in Montparnasse in a charming neighbourhood with restaurants/bistros, grocery- and wine store nearby with a Metro approx 400 meters walk with access to all view points in Paris. Of all highlight spots you can also follow in Woody Allen`s fotsteps to discover the neighbourhood of 1920´s famous writers of "the lost generation" Ernest Hemingway, James Joyce, F Scott Fitzgerald and Gertrud Stein.
