"Too Smokey!"

As a non smoker being put in a smokers room completely killed any positive experience a might have had with the hotel stay. Every fibre in the room was marinated in a stale smoke odour.Free wireless Internet within the hotel was challenging to use, long numerical usernames and passwords, bandwidth strangled with pages reluctant to appear. Could not log into Skype or send a hotmail message. The wifi system was unencrypted also, not what you want on a semi-public facing system.The stay was in complete contrast to IBIS Kortrijk the other week. The wireless had a single WPA2 password in the hotel room on a laminated card. Very simple, no pointless splash screens, or banner ads on who provides the service, just good quick Internet without any problems.The phone in the room was a bit temperamental, but that’s not important. All other things, staff, breakfast, parking all OK.

Excellent location close to historical centre. No problem with parking. Quite and clean room. Minor problem with computer system upon arrival solved immediately.

the hotel advertised free parking in its very own garage, i was charged €6 on departure.the hotel advertised wireless, but failed to mention it was not free.there is no room service.no help was given with luggage.the ironing board and iron i was presented with was in a terrible state.the cleaner mixed up the hotels towels(clearly branded) with mine and took away my personal towel.someone gained entry to my locked room, at 5.50am whilst i was in bed.as the hotel usualy charges €62 for B&B, i was charged €158 euro for 2 nights without Breakfast. breakfast was charged at an extra €10+ per head.All in all, my experience with Hotel Ibis in Paderborn, was unfortunately quite shocking. i would not recommend this hotel to anyone, and it is my firm belief, that you would find cheaper AND better service in a hostel in the Paderborn area.

The hotel is very well situated and within walking distance of the city centre and the tourist attractions. A wide variety of restaurants near by. The parking is a bit small for the size of the hotel.When we arrived in our bedroom the bin was already full of rubbish and there wasn't a sheet on the bed. Things did improve the next day.
