"What a surprise!"

We were delighted to discover that this Ibis (we have been to several) was in a converted Church right in the very centre of La Rochelle. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast as always was plentiful tasty and fresh.With the change in Pet passports next year I was delighted to note that for 5euros your canine friend can stay in your room, so our mobile mop will pack his toothbrush next year and stay at Ibis.Ibis as always does what it says on the tin cheap, clean accomodation.
"Functional without charm"

As a business traveller just needing somewhere to stay, the hotel basically does the job - with one major exception: the internet connection. The internet connection is slow, but even worse, you get a license supposedly valid for 24 hours which in my case repeatedly expired after less than an hour. Staff comments indicated that they were aware of a problem when you check your e-mail and get attachments, but apparently this is not considered as crucial.If you are in La Rochelle as a tourist, you may want to consider another hotel. The old building has a charming exterior, but the interior has been totally ripped out and looks like any other Ibis hotel - very dull. The central location is of course an advantage, and it's very clean.The staff does their job and are polite, but service isn't exceptional.
